The Wizard's Challenge

Bolting upright, Croak grabs a handaxe and a small utility knife.Croak takes a moment to listen to scream while he gathers himself.

Perception: 16  (Male or female scream? In the house or out in town? Horror/surprise/drunkenness?)

"Shalech. Awake." He says strongly, but barely above a whisper while giving three quick knocks against the floor board with two knuckles.

• Croak thinks Northbank is a dump.

• There are a lot of them, trying to keep track but it is fun.

Urselles wakes up and heads to the ""haunted house"" after turning in her room key to whoever was behind the counter 

"Shalech, there's trouble" Croak storms down the stairs and out the front door, looking for the source of the sound.

Perception: 18

Shalech, woken by Croak, is surprised to continue hearing the scream that he though was part of his nightmare.  Throwing his pack on his back, he chases after Croak and also attempts to pinpoint the source of the scream.

Perception: 15

As you exit, Croak sees a wall of flames engulfing the doorway to Dar's tower.  There appears to be movement and continued screaming on the other side.

Theodore, you wake to see Isa burning in the doorway.  Han leaps from the bed, blankets in hand, and smothers out her flames; before feeding her a potion.  Her burns fade away and wounds heal.

(By the way, everyone got a long rest as the morning light has risen.)

Croak stands outside the haunted house looking toward the scene unfolding, taking a quick look around to observe anyone fleeing the scene, he runs toward the burning tower.

Shalech runs to Isa, and guesses, "Isa, did you set off the tower's defenses?"

Urselles quickly dashes towards the source of the screaming, she grabs onto her amulet with a determined look in her eyes 

Shalech, you run for Isa, but stop short as you feel the heat from the burning wall blocking your path.

At this moment Dar burst forth from the basement door, in a maroon sleeping robe wand at the ready.  Upon seeing Isa half burned on the floor; he curses at her, referring that she knew of the defenses and not to trip them, before finally turning off the defenses.

Croak digs his heels in as he comes to a screeching halt in front of the wizard's tower. "**** this." Croak heads towards the Clansmen, unable to shake the dream from his mind. To Shalech "Breakfast... then we find this hermit, unless our companions found any more compelling information."

I like it

It's an odd place but, people need help and that's what matters

What do you think of the other characters?

They're an intresting bunch, to early to say much more

To Croak, Shalech confirms, "I'll meet you there, although I'd prefer to eat real food.  I'm just curious to know why Isa would do something that dumb."

Can Urselles see Isa 

"Her wounds are healing already. See you at the Clansmen." 

Croak gathers his gear from the haunted house and changes into some respectable garb: sans armor. He carries off to The Clansmen.

Upon entering he is gripped with anticipation, weighing the outcomes of seeing Boabby or the orc from his dreams. 

Shalech resumes his approach and asks, "Isa, is there an emergency?  Why would you enter Dar's tower without being invited in?"

Going to take a real good look at Isa.  Is there anything that would show evidence of her being compelled, or "her" not being her?  Use the appropriate roll:

Perception: 19

Investigation: 17

Insight: 21

"I saw a ghost!!!" She calls out loudly.  "I saw a real ghost!"  She moves from the floor to the couch mattress.  "It was waiting for me in my home.  It said I had three days to agree to become a ghost too or die!"  She is terrified.

Urselles, you run up to the door and see a winded and terrified Isa sitting on an unfolded couch.

Nathan, arrives at the top of the stairs; a screaming in his ears.  You realize that your owl is calling out to you and has been for a while.  Somehow it didn't reach you during sleep.

Shalech, Isa looks terrified, and she is winded enough that it looks like she just ran a long distance.

Croak, you enter into the tavern, unaware of Isa's cries of ghost, and are surprised to not see Boabby behind the bar.  Instead is a smaller, but still muscular, man whose face looks about five generations past Orc.
