In the room above, the ghostly young girl robotically goes to the ice-covered pool, reaches her hands through the ice, and pulls out another turban-covered head. Then, she slowly floats toward the 5th pillar and the body of another dead guard slowly appears. Head attacked, it stands. "Taw"
Lev and others hear a gasp or scream from the well, echo up. The only noise in the silent room. Adrenaline flows and heartbeats quicken, as the enormity of the situation and the unknown risk Lira faces hits you as you witness the macabre scene unfold. (EVERYONE MAKE A WISDOM SAVE VS FEAR, DC 6. Failure=urge to leave the room)
Lira comes up for air and has an urge to vomit, and although fear, disgust, and a sense of claustrophobia grip her, she feels certain she must go and retrieve what she is able and reclaims her composure.
The ghost methodically repeats the sequence, "Zurgaa."
Lira steels herself as she catches her breath. She must retrieve the girl's body and the mother's skull. Perhaps then they can be laid to rest together and the girl will stop repeating this cursed cycle. She will rub the spider web sack on her hands to help strengthen her grip, and then dive again, attempting to grab both.
Lev keeps an eye on Lira, in shock at her bravery. He watches the girl as she rhythmically goes about her task, counting as she places heads on bodies. His eyes see something disturbing. The floor tiles in the center of the room have taken on a wet red appearance, and the red ghostly liquid seems to be slowly flowing toward the open doorway and beyond.
Upon hearing the gasp and scream from Lira inside the well, Lev moved to lean over the edge. One hand still gripping the glaive, and the other resting on the lip only the well.
“Lira!” He says sharply, “What’s going on?” His hand moves to the rope, instinctively wanting to pull her back up even though pulling on the rope will do nothing if she doesn’t have the other end.
He glances towards the others, eyes widening by slightly at the grim sight… a river of blood? What is this? Some unholy ritual?
He grits his teeth, turning back to Lira as the sense of urgency hits him tenfold.
Wis save: 4
Icy fear grips him, something that he hasn’t truly felt since before that fateful day. He shivers, the urge to grab his comrades and run overcoming him as he stands frozen by the well.
”Hurry Lira,” his sharp words took on a new tone, filled with newfound urgency. He’s clearly shaken, but even with that clawing fear he isn’t about to just save himself. “You need to get out of there, we need to go. Now.”
Anyone who looks his way would notice that he is not acting like himself. He’s showing fear, and that isn’t really something he’s shown before.
Vydar feels a sense of panic rising in his chest as the girl continues her counting. Though at the back of his mind, he feels as if none of this matters. If this is a ritual that has been stuck on repeat for who knows how long, can any of it really hurt them? Though, despite thinking this, it’s hard to completely dismiss such a gruesome scene.
Hearing panicked sounds from Lira, he rushes to the edge of the well. So far the actions this ghost is taking align near perfectly with the story they’d been told. That said, it’s almost certain that there are bodies down there.
Squinting into the dark hole, he sees the water ripple where Lira had dove in once again.
Vydar notes a rather unusual sight. The rather stoic Lev seems to have lost his wits. Looking down, he knows Lira has dipped back down below the surface.
For Lev, the enormity of the situation and his brother's name on the glaive, was just a bit too much for him to handle psychologically. He can stand his ground, but he feels a sense of impending doom.
LEV
On the ground in front of the coffin, Lev sees the transparent body of a beautiful elven woman wearing a crimson red dress lying on the ground.
Going back to the bottom of the well, Lira carefully exhumes the small skeletal body of a child and the full-sized decapitated head from the silty bottom and rises back to the surface. She hears Lev above, a strong sense of urgency in his voice. (Perception roll for Vydar looking down, Lira athletics/ strength check DC 12 with advantage to climb up, lower DC due to sticky hands as well(Each success=10 feet of climbing up).
"I'm alright! I've got them!" Lira yells up hoarsely. The small body and skull aren't very heavy, but she is hyper aware of what they are and eager to get out of the dark and cramped space. She begins her careful climb up.
"A rightful place awaits you in the Realms Above, in the Land of the Great Light. Come in peace, and live beneath the sun again, where trees and flowers grow."
— The message of Eilistraee to all decent drow.
"Run thy sword across my chains, Silver Lady, that I may join your dance.”
Lev quickly helps Lira ascend from the well, eyes darting around as he methodically pulls on the rope. Finally his eyes come to rest on the coffin.
When Lira finally exits the well with skull and skeleton in tow, he nods to the coffin, where the spectral woman is laying, “I’m assuming that is the mother.” He swallows, trying to force the shakiness out of his tone.
“Whatever you are going to do with those, hurry. We need to get out of here before what we see around us becomes tangible.”
The little ghost continues her tedious task, not at all disrupted by Lira's actions. Unseeing, methodical. There are now seven sultan guard skeletons, standing, armed, and unmoving, still partially transparent.
For some reason that escapes Lira, Vydar, and the shaken Lev, the child-sized skeleton survives the climb and remains together. The head is that of an adult elf. Affixed to her forehead is a silver tierra.

"Uh...I guess we put the skull with the rest of the mother's body. Maybe try the Speak with Dead scroll? Hearing her mother's voice might snap her out of this."
This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.
Zarbyn feels a deathly cold chill ripple up his spine as Lev calls out for everyone to leave now. Realizing this is all connected somehow to what the ghostly child is doing with the decapitated heads of the guards he tries to warn the others.
"It's a ritual of some kind. If it's disrupted at the right moment the cycle can be broken but at the wrong moment... something horrible would likely occur. Unless someone has a better idea I would say disrupting it when there are no heads attached might be better."
Seeing Lev acting so out of character Zarbyn thinks he may of been affected by the ghostly child or ritual so goes over to Lev and grabs him by the shoulders, he momentarily releases one and slaps Lev, not hard enough to hurt him or do damage but more to try and snap him out of it, before grabbing his shoulders again and giving him a little shake.
"Lev, snap out of it! It's the ghostly ritual! We have to try and disrupt or stop it! This isn't you, Lev, you are one of the strongest willed among us! You can't leave yet as we will need your strength to help pull Lira up!"

Lira carefully sets the child's body and mother's skull down before shakily taking a seat near the well to catch her breath.

What in the abyss…
Lev frowns at the child skeleton. What sort of sick twisted… why would anyone do this, desecrating not one body but two—one of which was a child.
He sets his jaw, then grabs the skeleton and moves towards the coffin.
The spectral woman must be important, but he isnt sure if bringing the body to the ghost will do anything at all.

Lev flinches when Zarbyn first grabs him, then gives him a slap and a shake. He frowns, heart still pointing even though the unnatural fear subsided.
He lets out a breath, then nods to Zarbyn, “Thanks.”
