Officer Barnabas takes Gaelen's statement and asks, "I laude your civic mindedness in aiding the steamboat crew but do you know the cause of the explosion?"
Once Officer Barnabas reaches Modoc and hears about the protesters, he steps out of the interrogation room briefly. Through the door you can hear a muffled conversation where search parties are being deployed to find the protestors. He then steps back in and asks, "Do you believe the protestors from Verdestone had something to do with the fiery creature that turned to ash?"
"I'd say they felt validated with their warnings about ghost rock and the destruction that occurred, but I can't say if they were the cause. They were so far from the boats on the shore, so it would have been powerful magic indeed if they did. Has anyone that we saved on the boat given an account of what happened?"
Erikur takes a look at the wanted poster and does not notice any familiar names or people. Officer Barnabas has a skeptical look. "Were you part of the Civil War? I have heard some are mentally affected by the horrors seen on the battlefield"
Eirikur shakes his head. "I'm from across the pond, so nothing as grand as your Civil War, but I am a used up soldier." He sighs deeply. "I'm sorry. To your question, I am not a reliable witness. I just did what I could to help as many as I was able. The person who started the fire was some kind of fire creature that appeared to have once been a man. I did see clothing that matched the workers on the boat. I think it may have been the skipper. Whomever he had been from before was burned up into nothing but fire and rage. When we arrived below deck, he had smashed another's head in and immediately attacked when we asked what had happened. We barely survived."
Eirikur holds his hands out, drawing attention to his many burns at various stages of accelerated healing. "If what I had seen was even what I had seen, of course."
In response to Modoc officer Barnabas says "Scattered reports with many in shock. Some even too fearful to speak. Though some spoke of your heroics in saving them. They are being treated at the hospital. You may leave but if you remember anything else, please don't hesitate to contact me." He stands and opens the door for Modoc telling him how to leave the precinct.
Officer Barnabas writes down in a file in neat print that Erikur was mentally disturbed. From his body language you can tell he was done with Erikur and takes the news about the skipper with a grain of salt. "I could recommend a stay at the mental asylum. I believe that new therapies like shock therapy may help with your mind. Just let me know and I will give them a call"
"That won't be necessary. I can't trust my eyes, but I can trust my friends."Eirikur waves away the offer, then shifts his weight forward in his chair to indicate that he too is ready to leave. "Do you need anything else from me?"

Whups missed this one.
"Sorry, the cause of the explosion is not something I am knowing. We were in the restaurant at the time."

Union Station is built in the Beaux-Arts style, exudes grandeur and efficiency. Its exterior features a monumental façade of stone and brick, adorned with classical columns and intricate detailing that speaks to the city's ambition and wealth.
Inside, the station bustles with activity. The Great Hall, with its soaring ceilings and massive windows, serves as a gathering place for passengers awaiting their trains. The space is filled with the sounds of steam engines, the calls of conductors, and the murmur of travelers from all walks of life. Wooden benches and ticket counters line the concourse, while polished floors and chandeliers add a touch of elegance to the utilitarian setting.
Railway platforms stretch out from the station, connecting Chicago to destinations across the Midwest and beyond. The platforms are bustling with porters loading luggage, passengers boarding trains, and vendors selling newspapers and refreshments. The air is thick with the scent of coal smoke and the rhythm of departing and arriving trains punctuates the atmosphere.
Outside, horse-drawn carriages and early automobiles vie for space with pedestrians on bustling city streets. The surrounding area is a mix of warehouses, factories, and emerging skyscrapers, testifying to Chicago's rapid growth as a commercial and industrial center.
Modoc checks the time, then heads to the ticket office to pick up their tickets under Earnest Harrington's name. "This is place is such a mess. Any sign of Dr. Bailey?"

"No, you may leave" says officer Barnabasas he escorts Erikur out of the interrogation room and shows him the way out of the precinct.
"Alright then" Modoc walks out and waits just outside for his friends. He'll take a look around as he waits.
Gaelan joins him outside. That is, if he's free to go.

"Well, I'm glad that didn't interfere with us getting on the train tomorrow. Shall we head back to the inn?" Modoc asks.
Officer Barnabas excuses Gaelen and the party heads back to Pacy for the night as the room is already paid for.
Morning soon comes and breakfast is eggs, bacon, and coffee or tea. Afterwards the party makes their way to Union Station.
