Moss' duties include acting as the tribe doctor, aid of the tribe leader sorceress Lady Yusdrayl, and overseeing the hatchery. Moss does also have a secondary purpose of trying to discover magic to free their imprisoned god, Kurtulmak. Moss is very practical about this and understands it will be nearly impossible for them to free Kurtulmak, but is trying by continuously experimenting with different types of magic. Moss will also read anything they can come upon.
Moss is a middle aged parental figure who always keeps their calm, but will do anything to protect their tribe. They will often try to cite some religious passage appropriate to the situation, but will almost always stumble on their words.
Donk, like many other kobolds, strove to please Lady Yusdrayl since he was a hatchling. He picked up hunting, an alternative form of food-gathering to trapping, from a young age and always sought out the approval of his fellow hunters. Because of this need to impress, Donk can often be found taking headstrong, aggressive approaches to conflicts in order to demonstrate his strength to superiors.
The barbarian kobold puts his own race above all others and is heavily subscribed to the traditions of his tribe and their continuation. Of course, it goes without much mention that this would include the fervent worship of Kurtulmak, the ultimate authority figure in kobold society.
Hi everyone! About when we will start: I am thinking Monday evening.
With regards to further background, yes, I would love that, but just a paragraph is fine, you don't need to write a novel, haha; Moss and Donk's writeups are perfect. There are a few things you might want to address in thinking about your character's backstory: What is their place in kobold society? What is their opinion of the current kobold leader, Yusdrayl the sorceress? Why were they selected for this dangerous mission? If they are religious, who do they worship? And what do they want most in life?
There are also open worldbuilding questions that are ripe for collaborative imagination. The kobold tribe is never given a name in the Sunless Citadel module, for one; maybe we could come up with a name for it. And I haven't settled on the reason that the kobolds need a new home, so maybe we could think of something interesting. Things like that.
Very much looking forward to playing with you all. : )
I'm still working on the sheet, but here is my backstory!
Ukoo was hatched along with other kobolds. This was strange as she looked very different from the other hatched kobolds. With no one claiming her, an old kobold, Ulla, took Ukoo in. Ukoo was named such, for that was the first sound she made. Ulla was an old hunter for the kobold tribe and taught Ukoo how to hunt and track surface dwellers and other humanoids, for they were among the most threatening foes the kobolds could potentially face. Most kobolds did not like the kenku participating in kobold rituals or society, and so Ukoo typically kept to herself within the tribe. It wasn't long before Ulla died, leaving Ukoo to fend for herself.
Finally, the priestess accepted Ukoo as an official member of the tribe. Ukoo is forever indebted to the priestess and would do just about anything. Once word came that there were goblins inside the potential new home, the priestess thought of Ukoo's experience dealing with such creatures before. Ukoo worships whatever gods the kobolds hold dear, though she practices in private due to past experiences.

Ginko doesn't act like a typical Kobold, when he was young he found his way into one of the many Underdark forests around, he never returned. Somehow he found his way into the Feywild. Like any young, hungry Kobold would do, he chased all kinds of small fey creatures around eating the ones he could catch. Eating all of these fey creatures changed him, his red scales turned a deep royal purple, and if he is ever exposed to light, his scales have an iridescent change, making them change many different colors. Eventually a dryad found him, she had never seen anything like him before and took him in as a living companion. After several years she got bored of him and banished him back to the Material Plane. Now that he is back he is prepared to do anything his sorcerer queen needs, but his true mission for himself is to find his way back to the beautiful Feywild where he can find his Dryad - who he assumes is worried sick - so he can show her he is safe.
Ginko is a druid, he is a trickster, and a nature lover. He believes no button should he unpushed, no lever should be unpulled, and no door should be left closed. He believes orcs and gnomes are the same exact creature. He is absolutely fascinated by the most mundane of foliage.
/e Ginko is not a healer, but for the sake of not screwing our party over, he will have healing spells and will use them when needed.
Having spent most of his life securing his sleeping perimeters with proudly crafted DIY traps, and sneaking around his other tribe members to gather what he esteemed to be his "fair share of shinies", Soup is a very proud Kobold when it comes to his skill set and expertise. He owes his talents to Kurtulmak, who bestowed his knowledge on Soup upon his birth-- or so Soup's mother says. But Soup has come far since his he put together his first tripwire, and now serves under the powerful sorceress, Lady Yusdrayl.
As much as Soup recognizes Lady Yusdrayl's authority on his tribe, he's still fairly certain that her powers are nothing compared to eternal Kurtulmak's; although, no one's powers really are... and Soup often smiles at this thought.
Nice! I just have one request. There's a prominent kobold NPC named 'Meepo' that will be appearing a lot, and Meeko's name will probably cause confusion between the two; maybe consider another name?

Sparkle was hatched and found to be quite health and fit, he seemed to take to a sword a shield, like a duck to water. So he was chosen to be a guard for the tribe, his name came about as the first thing he did when he saw the Queen of his tribe was point and Shout SPARKLE and the nice jewels and gems she was wearing, from them on he adopted the name and started to use the word Sparkle as much as he could, mostly using it when he saw a shiny fing, that caught his attention.

Traxx is a deep gnome sorcerer who is seeking knowledge and adventure. He heard about the kobolds looking for a new home and decided to tag along and help. He is also looking to learn as much as he can about the Kobold religions and spells from the leader Yusdrayl the sorceress. Traxx also loves adventure and since he is well suited for the Underdark he thought this would be a perfect adventure for him. Traxx grew up poor and without any knowledge of his family. He knows he has a draconic bloodline and he fights to keep it in check everyday. He has been around Kobolds many times before and has never had any issues. He actually enjoys their company.

Since we have two druids I'll PM Jusblazm about keeping Moss' and Ginko's skill sets and spells differentiated.
This is my first PbP-game. How is combat usually handled / how will Our Merciful DM handle it? If initiative is handled sequentially it might take forever to have people in different time zones waiting to post when it's their turn. Or is this usually not a problem in practice?
On that note, I'm interested in what time zones / countries y'all are from? I'm in Finland, UTC+3.
I'm also super curious on how our divine DM will handle the pbp. I've done a lot in the past, but this is my first time doing it with actual stat rolls, which will be interesting!
I'm from Toronto, Canada, which is under Easter Standard Time, UTC-5!
For my pbp games, I have all my players post their turn whenever and then I write a big summary post of it including enemy turns. It seems to work out for the most part.

Pacific Standard Time UTC-8 here! This is both my first D&D and PBP experience, so I'm hyped to jump right in with you guys. I've been reading as much as possible about how the mechanics and rules work, so hopefully everything will go smoothly.
I own all the books, so I can temporarily let everyone use mine to make characters! I can share it in the campaign, if DM would like an easy place to view them.
