[[ Looking for signs of Kenna would indeed be survival, but it sounds like you maybe also want to scan for threats? I'll roll you a perception check for that as well with Vira's help. Perception: 21]]
B'Reh cautiously enters the room, her attention initially drawn to the bright green puddles that remind her of the acidic slimes the party faced just a few hours before, but her training quickly kicks in, reminding her to scan the rest of the room for threats before moving on to any other matters. Lucky she does too, as she notices a few lumps near the ceiling that aren't quite shaped like stalactites. She has just a moment to cry out in warning before the slimes drop down to the floor in an attempt to ambush their prey.
Combat Round 1
Two of the same bright green slimes with a few bones floating within them drop to the floor, one behind the party and one in front. Along with them, two of a different type of slime, this one a strange mix of blue and purple, drop as well. These slimes don't have the same bones shifting around inside of them, but one does have a shortsword embedded in it up to the hilt.
[[ Players' turn. Remind me after combat to come back to the survival roll if I forget. ]]
B'Reh’s sharp cry of warning echoes through the cavern as the slimes drop to the floor. Without hesitation, she raises her amulet with her holy symbol and grips her quarterstaff tightly. Whispering a prayer to Tyton, the Nightfather, she extends her will outward, her voice calm but commanding.
“Blessed be our steps and strikes, for we stand together in the shadow of the Rhythm.”
A faint shimmer of golden light envelops Vira, Brynlee, and Aric, infusing them with divine favor. The light pulses briefly before fading, leaving a soft glow that bolsters their resolve. B'Reh steps back toward the rock formation, keeping her movements deliberate and measured, positioning herself near her companions. "Stay together. Watch the edges of the space," she says, her voice firm but quiet, her gaze fixed on the advancing slimes.
Move: one square to the right Action: cast Bless @Vira, @Aric, @Brynlee. (Please add 1d4 to your attack rolls and saves.)
Vira’s head snaps up as B'Reh cries out a warning, her eyes immediately locking onto the green and purple slimes as they drop to the floor. The sight of the bones floating in the green slime behind the party makes her feathers bristle with disgust, and she feels the familiar heat of her rage rising within her.
The blessing from B'Reh fills her with a surge of confidence, and she lets out a fierce battle cry as she charges toward the green slime behind them. With a powerful swing, Vira brings her greataxe down in a wide arc, aiming to cleave through the gelatinous mass before it can pose a threat to her companions.
Bonus Action: activate rage
Action: Greataxe on slime yellow to hit 22 with bless, damage 13 slashing
As B'Reh's divine magic suffuses the room, bolstering her traveling companions, Vira lets out a mighty screech and swings her axe at the nearest slime. It enters the slime's body, and suddenly she feels a sharp jerk as it sticks in place. The force of her swing does carry the axe forward, and she manages to free it from the thick mucus, leaving a thick gash across the slime's body, though it seems less bothered by the cut than it should be.
Quickly following up on Vira's attack, Aric swings with his quarterstaff and also nearly gets it stuck in the slime's body, but just manages to pull it back before it sticks too much. Following up with a kick, he sends the blue-purple slime in front of him to the ground.
Brynlee takes this opportunity to retreat slightly, retrieving her crystal and focusing on the next closest slime, one of the acidic green ones that stands next to B'Reh. She focuses her magic (BA: Innate Sorcery), the thumping of the Great Rhythm growing louder and louder in her ears until it seems to fill the entire chamber. She holds out her hand and releases a bolt of lightning towards the slime (A: Witch Bolt18 to hit for 15 lightning damage), severely injuring it. A thin beam of electricity connects her body to the slime as she concentrates on maintaining the spell.
With no visible reaction the the death of the first slime, the others move in. Their bodies morphing slightly to form some semblance of limbs, they all take swings on B'Reh and Vira. (Red: 13 to hit B'Reh; Green: 21 to hit B'Reh for 3 bludgeoning damage; Blue: 12 to hit Vira).
[[ Need a concentration check from B'Reh for bless. ]]
Combat Round 2
[[ Players' turn. Concentration B'Reh (?) and Brynlee. ]]
Brynlee flares her magic once more (BA: 12 lightning damage), and the first of the green slimes collapses into a steaming puddle on the cavern floor. She quickly turns her attention to the blue-purple slime that just hit B'Reh and releases another burst of lightning energy towards it (A: 20/21 to hit for 5 lightning damage).
[[ Brynlee loses concentration as her spell ends. ]]
B'Reh staggers slightly as the green slime's blow lands, the force jarring her but failing to break her focus (rolled 13). She clenches her jaw, gripping her amulet tightly as she steadies herself, the light of her Bless spell still pulsing faintly around her companions. The Nightfather’s favor was with them—she wouldn’t falter now.
“Your wrath does not go unanswered,” she mutters under her breath, raising her amulet high. The carved holy symbol glimmers faintly in the dim light of the cavern as she directs her focus toward the slime that Vira struck. With a steady voice, she intones, “Let the echoes of your trespass sound your demise.” A deep, resonant toll reverberates through the chamber, the necrotic vibrations focusing on the injured slime.
Action: cast Toll the Dead for 6 necrotic damage (assuming the slime has been damaged already, other wise it is just 3) unless the slime succeeds in a Wisdom save with DC 13.
Vira swings at the slime that hit B'Reh, her axe striking true, but once again catching strangely in its body (need another STR save DC 12).
Success:
She is able to jerk it free once more, and Aric follows up on her attack with a blow of his own.
Failure:
The momentum of her swing not being enough this time, the axe is ripped from Vira's hands, sticking to the slime's body. Luckily, Aric follows up swiftly with a blow from his quarterstaff.
The slime manages to shake off the effects of B'Reh's spell, but Aric's first blow sends it melting to the ground in a sticky blue puddle, leaving the weapons stuck to it free to be reclaimed. In need of a new target, the jerbeen quickly dashes over to the only remaining slime, one of the same bright green ones from earlier, and kicks at its body, his foot sinking into the verdant ooze slightly (please make a DEX save DC 12).
Success:
Luckily, he pulls free quickly enough that the slime's acidic body doesn't deal any damage to him.
Failure:
Before he is able to pull free, the acidic slime eats a small hole in his boot, dealing 3 acid damage as he quickly stumbles back from the monster.
Combat Round 3
Forming another arm-like appendage, the slime swipes out in the direction of the kick (21 to hit Aric for 5 acid damage).
[[ Players' turn. Concentration B'Reh. ]]
Brynlee lets out a shout seeing Aric injured. "Aric! Are you alright? Stay back B'Reh!" Raising her crystal once more, she releases an icy burst of energy towards the slime (holy crap 27 to hit for 6 cold damage. I love new sorcerer so much).
Vira is shocked when her Greataxe is pulled from her grasp by the sticky slime. Still consumed by rage, she instinctively reaches for her spear, aiming a heavy thrust at it.
[[ The slime that your greataxe stuck to is now dead so you're free to reclaim it from the ground as an object interaction at the beginning of your turn if you'd like. Also slimes don't wear armor or have dexterity so an 11 hits and you can roll damage for the spear/greataxe (whichever you're using). ]]
[[ Also I just realized I mistakenly typed CON instead of STR. I don't think it makes a difference for you, but that's my bad :/ ]]
[[ Forgot the rage advantage on STR saves, so it would make a difference! If we treat that 19 as your second roll for the previous turn, you never would've lost the axe in the first place ;) ]]
Meeting no sticky resistance this time around, Vira's axe slices clean through the slime, sending its upper half sliding off diagonally to the ground as a small spray of green droplets follows the axe and falls towards Vira's feet (DC 12 DEX save or take 4 acid damage).
However, as she exhales and relaxes slightly, having just decapitated the last remaining slime in this chamber, its remains begin to shift. This slime didn't melt into a puddle as the others had, but instead split, and the two masses left behind by the axe swing now rear up once more, smaller than before, but just as menacing.
[[ Slime Reaction: Split. B'Reh and Aric's turn. ]]
B'Reh steadies herself, quickly taking in the situation as the larger slime splits into two smaller but equally menacing forms. Without hesitation, she jumps and flies behind the slimes gliding over Aric and Vira, her focus unwavering (Concentration21, though I'm not sure why it is needed. I didn't see any damage, what did I miss?).
“This battle isn't over yet, but we end this now!” she declares, her voice firm but calm. Gripping her spear tightly with both hands, she thrusts it toward one of the smaller slimes with precision, the sharp tip piercing through its gelatinous form. The green slime quivers under the impact. “Stay sharp, both of you!” she calls to her companions, positioning herself to shield them should the slimes retaliate. Her feathers puff slightly, her resolve stronger than ever as she prepares to strike again if needed.
Move: jump and glide to the space left of the blue slime. Action: Attack @Blue, hit 16 for 4 mundane piercing damage.
(Sorry for the delay, I thought that I had replied to this already.)
[[ Didn't need a concentration check, was just marking that you were concentrating to keep it fresh in our minds since combat moves slow in PbP ;) ]]
[[ Still need a DC 12 DEX save from Aric for last round (details above in the spoilers), and forgot to ask Vira for the same in my post yesterday. Editing that right after this to include it. Everyone remember to add your d4 from Bless! ]]
Ignoring Brynlee's warning and moving to protect her companions instead, B'Reh glides over their heads in the open cavern and spears one of the smaller slimes from behind. As she withdraws the spear, another spray of acidic sludge is released from the wound towards her (DC 12 DEX save or take 1 acid damage).
Aric retaliates with two quick attacks, dispatching first the injured slime, and then the other, but is forced to dodge away as both collapse into steaming puddles (DC 12 DEX save or take 2 acid damage, and then another or take 2 acid damage).
[[ Combat over. ]]
"Is everyone alright?" Brynlee asks, making her way over to the group. As she walks, careful to avoid the green puddles left behind from the acidic slimes, one of her feet lands in a trail of blue residue and sticks in place. She tugs at it once, making no progress, and then gives a strong jerk, finally freeing herself. "Seems like those blue ones are stickier and the green ones more acidic. I'm starting to see why Kenna would be so interested in the different slimes that live here."
[[ Looking for signs of Kenna would indeed be survival, but it sounds like you maybe also want to scan for threats? I'll roll you a perception check for that as well with Vira's help. Perception: 21]]
