As Charlotte cools down, she looks at Orla and says:
"I have no clue, but if we don't want these Welcomers to come after us, maybe we should consider getting back to that Harper and letting him know what went down."
Using a combination of supplies he carries with him, the bandit's own clothes, and some of the available hay on the loft, the sage is able to stop the bleeding. You are pretty confident this is enough to prevent him from bleeding to death.
Some tid bits to inform your decision:
- First batch of enemies will regain consciousness in about 3.5 hours (previous roll).
- Thug and two of his bandits will regain consciousness within 2 hour.
- The two bandits that were put to sleep, Charlotte deduces, will wake up at any moment now (before Cato finishes writing his note).
This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.
Utar busies himself removing the weapons from The Welcomers and adding them to the pile he made earlier. He takes particular care in looking over the half orc, he seemed to be their leader, and might be carrying some instructions.
"Let's not wait around for a third surprise, let's go get some answers from that pox ridden Harper."
Something occurs to Cato. "We should rouse the seller or one of her guards before we leave. We hit them a lot harder than we hit these bandits, and I think that, without our intervention, they will remain unconscious for some hours after the bandits awake. It seems likely that given the opportunity, this one," he gestures to the unconscious thug, "will dispatch them in the same manner as the third attendant."
Orla and Utar start disarming the Welcomers. As the cleric stays behind to perform a more thorough search of the Welcomer leader, Orla moves on to the loft to ensure the bandit left there is also relieved of his weapons. They manage to add to the pile of weapons four scimitars, four crossbow, light, one crossbow, heavy, and a mace by the time they are done.
A careful search of the Thug’s pockets and belongings turns up nothing of interest at first, but a last check within the Welcomer’s boot reveals a small piece of parchment that reads, in Common: We apprehended a mercenary running for his life. Said he was hired to protect a female merchant who was buying something BIG. Go to the abandoned barn and make sure to get it for the guild.
Bandits #1 and #2 are now awake. Seeing Utar searching their boss, and the rest of the party standing not too far from them, they realize they have been thoroughly bested. They don’t say anything, but their eyes shows they are defeated. They start slowly making their way towards the door, raising their hands to show they mean no threat.
(Cato has finished his note by now. The Spy now has the bag of fake gems with the note inside, as well as the enchanted pin hidden within his cloak. All enemies are disarmed. All enemies are unconscious, except for the two Bandits that just woke up).
"It would behoove us to make ourselves scarce. Surely those two louts will return with more of their compatriots," Cato says. He opens the door to the barn and looks back, waiting for his new friends to follow.

Utar, having previously relived the lady of her gold as penance, divides the coin evenly between the group (8 gold each).
"Torm can always use the gold for a worthy cause, but you all earned a part of this and should spend it how you like." Utar moves towards the barn door.
"Aye, back to where we were." Drazzim says, attempting to remember the name of the tavern. "I think I left half a tankard'sh worth."
He will cheerily wander with the others, propping his glaive between his shoulder and the egg as he carries it alongside the others. "What do ye think dragon egg omelet ish like?"
Cato's nature check (this is the information Cato remembers at the moment, feel free to share as much as you see fit):
In your research, you have never come across a scholar that dared eat a dragon egg. They are simply too rare and too valuable to be scientifically "wasted" on a passing thrill such as satisfying one's taste glands. You have no doubt that there is valuable information to be attained from such an experiment, but to your knowledge, no one has yet waged their scientific reputation on such an attempt.
This second (much better, by the way) nature check also reveals that the vestiges of a sheen that the egg shell still displays are highly unnatural. Clearly some sort of spell was imbued in this egg. To attach itself to such a powerful item as a dragon egg, such a spell would have to be cast by an extremely powerful caster. Either that, or this is not really a dragon egg (due to your previous unsuccessful nature check, you are not sure which of the two is the right answer in this case).
Additionally, Cato knows the following general information about dragon eggs: Dragon eggs vary in size depending on the kind of dragon. They are generally the same color as the dragon that laid them and they have the same energy immunities as the dragon that laid them. A dragon egg has an elongated ovoid shape and a hard, stony shell. A female dragon can produce eggs beginning at her young adult stage and remains fertile though the very old stage. Males are capable of fertilizing eggs beginning at the young adult stage and remain fertile through the wyrm stage. The eggs are fertilized inside the female's body and are ready for laying about a quarter of the way through the incubation period, as shown on the table below. The numbers given on the table are approximate, and relate exclusively to red dragon eggs, which is the egg in question; the actual periods can vary by as much as 10 days either way.

As the party leaves the barn, Cato heals the seller. As you walk towards the Kettle, your path illuminated by fireflies, you hear the shuffling of gear and a few words coming from the barn: "What...? Why...? Hey... wake up... Wake up!". A few seconds latter you hear "Hmm... a note." The rest in indistinguishable from ambient noise, as you increase the distance between youselves and the barn.
(It is a 20 minute walk back to the Kettle, or more precisely, the stable behind it, where you agreed to meet the Harper agent. Let me know if you do or say anything during the walk back).
Drazzim will be chuckling to himself, saying how the fight was a cinch, and that he might have a battle scar to show off next time he meets his family. (Overall, just walking nonchalantly with the egg.)
During the walk, Cato delivers an exuberant discourse on the eggs of dragons. He goes into great detail and the terminology does get a bit technical, including phrases like "dracoamnion" and "embrimmunity."

The party makes it back to the inn with no trouble, other than having to listen to Cato's somewhat overbearing lecture. The Harper is waiting for you, as promised, in the stable behind Madame Freona’s Tea Kettle. The stables are quiet at this late hour. The horses and other animals all seem to be asleep, and the only source of light is an oil lantern, hanging above the main entrance to the building. The ground is muddy due to the transit of pack animals and mounts to and from, you deduce, as it has not rained in Phlan in over a week. As you approach, the Harper agent steps out of the shadows, to meet you under the lantern's dim light.
"Ah there you are. I was beginning to think the trade turned south, with your delay and all." he sighs in relief. "Now, now, back to the business at hand. Did you plant the oak leaf pin on the seller? How about the egg, did you acquire it successfully? Was it all according to plan?" His speech pattern is faster now than what you remember from your first meeting.
"We succeeded in both those tasks."Orla replies. "But we had to battwe the sellah and heah goons fiwst. And then some thugs awwived on the scene and demanded the egg. We deawt with them too."
“Battle the seller? How could you complete the task and fight them at the same time? I asked for no blood so they’d go back to their hideout with no reservations. Now who knows where they may actually go! And who else would know about this? What have you done?”
As Charlotte cools down, she looks at Orla and says:
"I have no clue, but if we don't want these Welcomers to come after us, maybe we should consider getting back to that Harper and letting him know what went down."
She then turns to Cato.
"We have the egg, after all."

From a scientific perspective, does Cato have anything to add to the discussion on the consumption of dragon eggs?
