The sword is inscribed with the name “Talon,” and its hilt is worked in the shape of a bird of prey with outspread wings.
Brand recalls a tale in a book he read about the local history that he found in his room at the inn back in town. Talon once belonged to a great knight named Aldith Tresendar, known as the Black Hawk.
Sir Aldith died fighting off the orcs that attacked through the hidden caverns below his manor. Talon must have been lost here until the nothic found it.

Brand half bows to Val and accept the sword. He holds it up horizontally in the palms of his hands.
"Thank you mi'lady. Your tithe is received and I will use it to continue to protect the party. Its a shame it isn't a mace or flail as tenderizing flesh and breaking bones works better at making evildoers repent over lacerations. Shall we take a short rest before proceeding?"
Brand kneels, takes out his blanket, draws the sword and places the sword and sheath on the blanket. He then takes out a candle and lights it and places it above the sword and sheath. He places a Censer with incense and lights it. Brand lifts his holy symbol to his lips and kisses it and places it in the palm of his hand and whispers a prayer rest and thanks for the previous owner of the sword and then asks The Sun God to bless the sword. He then stands and puts away the items and equips Talon.
As the party is taking a short rest, Brand walks into the previous make shift bar, removes the bodies of the bandits and drops them into the pit. He says a prayer and then pours some alcohol onto the corpses. He then heads back into the bar and makes himself some tea and offers the rest of the party some drinks from behind the bar. He then goes picks up a table and chair and heads out to the edge by the pit and begins attempting to make another bomb in the hour it takes for a short rest.
Brand fails to make the bomb and spills oil and ball bearings all over the table making a mess. He attempt to jump up from the table and kick it over the edge into the pit before the oil gets all over him.
‘Brand. When you’ve quite finished fiddling with those contraptions……’
Ol recovers one of the red capes.
’I believe our one eyed warrior mentioned something about some red clothing before we gave him a good beating. Shall we gather up and head back over toward our original quarry?’
This area is the north end of the large natural cavern, but it has been finished with dressed stone block walls and a flagstone floor. Several barrels are stored against the walls here, along with a number of empty crates, straw for packing, hammers, pry bars, and nails.
Val looks at her blood soaked cohorts and grimaces.
"While we have a have a moment, if you’ll hand me your cloaks I’ll get them cleaned up. We don’t want any awkward questions about the amount of innards on our outtards”
Ol looks at his companions….. ‘right let’s keep our wits about us and get this over with’ he states as he picks a Nothic coloured piece of skin from one the spikes on the club.
He leads the way towards the entrance listening out for the rattle of bones over the noise of the bridge returning over the casm.
’This can’t be it. Let’s take a peak in these barrels and see what’s behind this stack. If that Nothic is serious about the skeletons be ready for anything, false walls, trap doors’

Val shudders as she hauls on a stinking cape and follows the others to the bridge.
