"Smells like a bilge on an old, ill-ran ship with no bosun's mate." is the ex-pirate's only comment. He puts on a handkerchief as a face wrap and motions for the others to do likewise, commenting "any rag will do.", before moving on.
Pushover tears a blank page from her spellbook and wraps it around her face to mask the stench, though she immediately frowns in disgust, muttering 'Ugh...smells like brimstone...'

The cesspool reminds you of something some time ago. A masked lord of waterdeep had discovered a gate to a demiplane of filth. They had then attempted to build a sewer system centered around it, emptying the city's waste into the plane. It had actually work for a short time, giving them motive to expand the system. But that had changed once the denizens of the plane came out of the portal. After repelling the creatures, the rulers of Waterdeep had abandoned the plan and sealed the gate.
Both Pushover and K still feel a hum of energy but hard to tell if the gate is truly sealed or not with it still under the cesspool.
As the party clings to the walls, a slimy appendage rises up from the cesspit. The tentacle fully rises up near the pipes, nearly 30 feet tall. It wavers in its spot for a moment, almost as if it's trying to listen.
Grigor does not care who put it here or why, he just wants to get past. Already ready to defend, he focuses on moving quietly when the huge tentacles rises out of the filth. He also didn't care to fight whatever was on the other end of it.
Pushover'seyes widen at the appearance of the tentacle, but since it doesn't attack or interact, she focusses on skirting past it without any disturbances. But, as any wizard would, she's also inclined to investigate the arcane hum of the potentially unsealed portal beneath the filth. Though, that curiosity isn't strong enough to make her hold up the party by this beast and in the stench by any means whatsoever, so she settles for a silent analysis. Clearly there's something about inhaling Abelskink's pure demonic vapours that help her to think, as she can process the magic she senses quite well without even coming close to the unseen source. [Arcana: Nat 20 for a total of 26]
Seeing the appearance of the tentacle from the cesspool, K also tries to skirt past it without making too much noise. She just wants to get out of the room as smoothly as possible. [Stealth 13]
(Don't know what Ja'Dul is doing a history check on.)
Pushover, you can sense that the gate is still active, as its evident by the denizen of the other plane coming through it.
As Sigurd tries to quietly make his way, a heavy footfall upon the grate rattles it. It clangs with the nearby pipes and makes an obvious noise. The tentacle, somehow, faces Sigurd and slowly comes closer to him. It has a putrid and foul odor coming from it as it comes closer to him, the tip of the it almost touching him.
Sigurd, Con check to prevent yourself from throwing up on it, DC 5
(Con check : 5, just barely made it) Sigurd clenches his jaw to prevent the bile from escaping his gullet and freezes in place in hopes the tentacle returns to searching elsewhere. (action readied to strike the tentacle if it attacks, still trying to get past without a fight.)
(It was a party wide check but to keep the flow going, I auto rolled for all. For a minor thing I'll do, but for major I shall leave it to the players.)
The tentacle pulls back a bit and lowers the tip of itself. The tip opens up and forms a funnel of sorts. Then it stays still.
Funnel? Listening or asking for something? Nopenopnenope. Grigor, as quietly as possible, stays the course, ready to defend, but otherwise trying to go unnoticed.

K will follow Sigurd's example, pulling the collar of her cloak over her nose and mouth. She sticks as close to the walls as she can.
Grigs stays close, ready to protect those near him, convinced something is going to attack them from the sewage.
