"Sertanian, would you keep watch as I check these creatures out?"  Galorash looks to be sure that Jakob and Balin are being seen to as he saw them both struck.  He will then approach the ettercaps' bodies and search them over for equipment or valuables, after being sure they are quite dead. investigation 19"Jakob, these things have some sort of venom coming off of their fangs, I think the venom may be useful in future or at least valuable to an alchemist.  What do you think?"  (I have a terrible memory, so please be the one that has the alchemy or herbalist skill?)

(OOC When Galorash searches these things he will pull any gear or valuables off them and leave them out for anyone to gather up what they need or could use.  He will also retrieve arrows or bolts as appropriate for other party members.  Anything remaining from what they've chosen he will select from. With the potential exception of trinket / symbol type things that are non-magical) 

Jakob will also check their bodies for anything useful for his mutagens.

The ettercap guards had longswords. The ettercap's poison glands could potentially be mutagenic.

Jakob takes the poison glands. "Take a couple of these for my mutagens. Poison glands are useful if you'd like to coat your arrows in them, Galorash."

((What check would it be to take their poison glands from their bodies? Nature? Medicine? Survival?))

(Lets just say you take them.)

Galorash nods over to Medskan, "I agree, maybe a short one?" 

"Good thought there,"  and Galorash will collect a couple glands for himself to use on his weapons later.  

After we've all sat down for our short rest and finished up Aka jumps up "Well, shall we continue on down the path? We're not getting any younger, especially not me." He uses the tip of his spear to scratch a hard to reach part of his right leg.

You all took a short rest, no monsters were encountered during the hour. Let me know if you want to keep going into the spiderweb landing or go someplace else.

Kalman will recover 1 crossbow bolt and suggest trying to burn the webs away.

Medskan pulls out a torch and tinderbox

As you make your way into the spiderweb landing, ready to burn the webbing as needed, in the southeastern corner of the room you see something gruesome: a man's corpse, webbed to the wall, his face a rictus of pain and his eyes bulging. Could this be one of the captives you came to rescue?

Galorash moves forward to examine the man.  "Sertanian, I'm sorry, but we need your help to tell who this is?"  He then pulls out a dagger and begins to quickly cut away at the webs as the others are clearing more.  He positions himself to catch the poor man as the webs release. "We can at least give him peace from this display."   He looks as he cuts for any distinguishing markings or items on his person.  Not searching, just visual.  Perception 20  He will attempt to lay the man on the ground in a more peaceful position. 

Sertanian identifies the man as Kartenix, the guard captain. "He must have attempted to escape, to overpower his ettercap captors, and failed. His son Thurann will be devastated when he finds out." Sertanian is putting on a calm, disinterested face but deep down it is clear that he is broken up by what he sees.

Galorash looks to the others,  "Would you help me carry him to the Cells?  I still have the keys and they may protect him until we can safely get him out for proper burial." Galorash proceeds to wrap him gently in his hemp rope to contain him better for movement and will try to close his eyes and mouth to present a milder look.  "Medskan, please help me do him some honor. What I have are only trinkets and charms. Maybe his possessions, Sertanian, you should hold them as his friend to return to his family?"

Jakob helps Galorash out. "I'll help you."

"I will do what i can"

Medskan reverently picks up the body

Kalman looks solemnly at the corpse and offers what help he can.

Balin utters a solemn prayer to Moradin.
