Just to be on the safe side, Ember will pull a candle and light it up to put at the junction of the 'left turn' and the pitted hallway. "Just so we can see better as we make plans."
The Wiz summons his four lights with Dancing Lights and peeps over Alexia's shoulder to gaze down the long hallway, sending the lights down into illuminate the pits.
The hall is 80 feet long. There is a 5 foot margin between the wall near you and the rest of the hall. Beyond that the passage seems to have a polished sheen on the floor, walls, and ceiling. Looking at the stone pattern you discern that the very middle of the hall is the same level as you. There is a very slight angle downward toward the two pits at either end. There is also a slight slope from the walls to the pits. The pits are about 5 feet wide and you can see rusty pokey stuff rising from the bottom. Both pits are 10 feet away from either end of the passage.
Ember sighs. "Some of us can fly across. But, that leaves others stuck before this.... trap. Is it a trap trap or an illusion of a trap? Do you think a dispel would do anything useful?"
"Perhaps fly across with a rope, we can use as a guard rail? Though, in this place, I wouldn't be sure you won't end up losing flight over the pit! But worth a try I guess."
The Wiz does not enjoy delays. He spits in his hands, rubs them together for no reason, then uses the 10ft runway for a sprint and leap across the pit. "Yippee ki-yay!"
OOC: Long Jump uses my Strength Score of 13 for 13ft, but I rolled an Athletics just in case there is a factor I cannot see, which was an 11.
The 10 foot run-up for a long jump looks exactly the right distance before the pit. Unfortunately half of that is covered in a frictionless coating. So instead of soaring through the air cloak flapping dramatically, The Wis loses footing immediately, he lets loose an *oof!* as he lands on his but and slide towards the pit of spikes.
The rest of the party can try to grab him before he faces his demise. DC 15 Athletics check. Be aware that if you fail, you grab on to the wizard and both of you go down!
muahahahahha! (Yeah you actually hear a voice in your head go muahahahahha!)

"............anybody got any potatoes? We could drop a potato in each hole an' see which ones get viciously mauled by horrible monsters?"
Ember hopes The Wiz can either be too big for the pit or at least big enough to use his arms and legs to straddle the walls to slow his drop to the spikes below.
Ember yells down, "Sorry. Sorry. I went 'big' because I thought small... one spike would punch a hole through MY tiny self." He flits around trying to get a better view down into the strip pit. "Can you get up without more damage? Do you want to stay big or should I shrink you back to normal?"
Ember knows he would lose a tug of war but... if one looked closely, one might see a small torch ignire above his head... "Oooooo I have JUST the thing!"
Shoving his arm armpit deep into his bag of holding, he pulls out a metal rod. Holding it horizontally before him while flying about six feet above the alcoves safe flooring, he presses a button on the end of the rod and lets go. The rod stays in place in the air.
Immovable Rod
This iron rod has a button on one end. You can take a Utilize action to press the button, which causes the rod to become magically fixed in place. Until you or another creature takes a Utilize action to push the button again, the rod doesn’t move, even if it defies gravity. The rod can hold up to 8,000 pounds of weight. More weight causes the rod to deactivate and fall. A creature can take a Utilize action to make a DC 30 Strength (Athletics) check, moving the fixed rod up to 10 feet on a successful check.
Emberwill then fly out to grab the offered rope and flit back to secure it on the rod. Once it is properly knotted up he will yell, "Wiz, you should be able to climb out now!"
OOC: I believe Paladin Lay on Hands would work (the 2014 version did and will do so in my games), Elixir of Health, uh...
I was initially going to allow advantage on the save with the casting of Lesser Restoration. However, looking at the 2014 version, it did remove disease so yes, Lesser Restoration will work. I wonder why they did that?

Ember has a split second to react... and realizes no matter what, his small size and limited strength is not the answer.
He yells at The Wiz.. "Embiggen"
Enlarge/Reduce
Ember hopes The Wiz can either be too big for the pit or at least big enough to use his arms and legs to straddle the walls to slow his drop to the spikes below.
The Wiz becomes two time his normal size in every dimension and also 8 times his weight! Truly amazing!
But even with his new size the surfaces provide no grip.
*insert sound*
The fall is not so bad. The rusty spikes only do 5 piercing damage.
It's the Super-Tetanus that's the problem! DC 15 CON save or take 1d10 damage per minute until you make your save (once per minute) or get cured.

The Wiz groans and looks up from the pit. “Thankfully my experiment was a success. We now know what the design and purpose of this room is.”
The Wiz pulls out his trusty rope and throws a line up to the others. “Little help?”
