Ylis is relieved that her friends are not suffering too badly. This aging thing is pure awful. Now this river is blocking the way.
"Uh, I can swim, but not well enough for that. I TOLD you those boots of water walking would come in handy one day but NOOOOooooooOO. Nobody wants to listen to the white bunny, just trade them in for," she sighs, "the crystal ball that told us where Shaznahk Rochre was." then rubs her eyes, "and if we didn't stop him the village would have been drained of all life..."
"But I did say we should have kept them!" Ylis waggles her hand at the river and stomps her foot.

"............anybody got any potatoes? We could drop a potato in each hole an' see which ones get viciously mauled by horrible monsters?"
Joy looks at the others worriedly, especially the horses, and then to Riven, offering him a small nod of gratitude for checking ahead. “Thank you for testing it. We’d have assumed it was safe at a glance. We’ll need to find a way across together. No swimming. Not with that pull. A ferry, a bridge, a spell, anything but risking one another to the current.”
The green-clad dark-haired now middle-aged man spends much time after the wave to acquaint himself with his older self and the new fey magic he now seems to have mastered. As the fellowship reaches the wide river and no apparent ways of crossing it seems available he simply starts to float upwards together with Lily. "Hey, I can fly..." He exclaims in surprised fascination, a wide smile on his face, waving to his fellows from above before scanning in the distance for some way to cross the water.
Jack's vision stretches far into the darkness of the night. Unlike everyone else here, it is as though he were seeing the world as a bright and sunny day... for 120ft at least. This incredible, bafflingly powerful range of vision allows him to see, just at the edge of his vision, a small raft hidden in some shrubbery. In addition to this, he also manages to catch a glimpse of a person just barely creeping out of his range of vision, being as sneaky as possible. From what you can gather, it appears that this person came from the raft. The raft is also a little large for just one person to beach quietly on their own.
The green-clad dark-haired man goes quiet and quickly descends back onto his steed and motions for the others to stay quiet too and move closer to him before speaking quietly to them. "We are not alone. At least one person hiding just over a 100 feet in that direction. There's a raft over there too though that I think we might make use of."
Meanwhile the tiny invisible blonde darts over in the direction that her ward indicated, listening for sounds and hoping to find out more about who hides there and what their intententions are, reporting back as soon as she finds something out. She will also allow her ward to see for himself, making use of her sight with his own darkness piercing vision.
It takes a moment for the recently drastically changed man to realize he has other useful tricks for an event like this, now using his fey magic to send out an unseen witch eye towards the hiding person to help out with scouting.
"They can't have moored that raft so quietly on their own. There must be more of them," Vazo'yn says in a hushed whisper as he slides out of his saddle.
With a well-practiced deftness, his hand slipped into the pouch over his shoulder. His fingers easily found the deck of cards and—letting the spirits guide him—he retrieved a card. He could feel it before he saw it. It was a slippery card, difficult to hold firmly in the mind. The Beguiler. Trickery and confusion, charm and deceit. What he did not yet know was whether he was to be the Beguiler, or if it was a warning of those ahead.
"Have you sent Lily?" he asks Jack. The man had not said anything about sending his little blonde familiar, but they had been travelling together long enough that Vazo'yn had started to assume so.
Giles hands the reigns of his horse to Joy, "Can you hold these for a second, I just realized something, something I can do..."
He will then walk to the river, and walk ON the water to see what happens. [he'll go slowly in case he is wrong about his new skill]

While you aren’t wearing armor or wielding a Shield, you gain the ability to move along vertical surfaces and across liquids on your turn without falling during the movement.
Riven meets Joy’s words with a slight tilt of his head of acknowledgment. His expression doesn’t shift, but the nod lingers a heartbeat longer than expected, enough to suggest he’d already come to the same conclusion. Her concern mirrors his own, though he would never voice it aloud.
He turns from the group without a word.
In one smooth motion, he dismounts, boots landing in the damp earth without a sound. His longbow is already in hand by the time his cloak settles at his back. The tusk-horn at his hip sways gently, its pale surface catching a whisper of moonlight. He adjusts the quiver on his shoulder. Draws a breath. Listens.
The unknown stalking their flank. It draws something from deep within him. Instinct. Memory. Compulsion.
He moves.
One fluid, deliberate step—his feet barely whisper against the earth. T
And then, a voice. “I’ll know if they mean to strike."
A glance over his shoulder, at Joy. "Listen for the horn" (Magical action Horn of Silent Alarm) and then he’s gone.

Joy blinks in surprise as Giles hands her the reins, her curiosity piqued by his sudden determination. She watches, wide-eyed, as he strides toward the river—on the river—and actually begins walking atop it. Her mouth parts in awe, then a breath of laughter escapes her, equal parts wonder and relief. “Light above…”she murmurs, tightening her grip on the reins.
"A...alright. We'll be ready." She watches Riven vanish into the darkness with a quiet resolve.

Giles walks the surface of the water, with his spiritual connection seeming to add strength to the surface tension. The water cups his feet, much like a water strider bug. Giles can sense this extension of his spiritual energy is tenuous at best and if his focus were to be divided on something, like combat, he could only manage to maintain this marvel for a few seconds at a time. Even now, the water threatens to break under his feet.
