Lan crouches at the brink, Stone-whorl laid across the gap to gauge its span, then sweeps the floor with his palm, feeling for anchor points. He runs a thumb along the wall courses, hunting for an iron ring or crack stout enough for a piton; dust grits under his nails, but his healer’s eye finds only honest stone and the faint scrape where boots hesitated—as he does now.
He straightens, listening to the coin’s distant clink, and scans the passage once more, brows knitting. “If we’ve no cleverer path here, the calling book below remains our truest thread. I say we take it up again—carefully—and see where it leads.”
(OOC: Zheng cast the spell light on the coin(20 feet bright light and 20 feet dim light). Am I understanding correctly that when the coin was dropped into the pit the light is no longer visible.)
Zhang looks at Xi.
“I agree, magic is very happy to confuse the senses. The darkness may be a test we need to solve in order to continue much like the entrance to this tower. The owner of this tower seems to enjoy putting individuals in difficult situations. I think we should check the pit before returning.”

(OOC: Noted. Yep, when the coin was dropped the light dropped out of view. You have no idea why the tower is built in this way, but it is.)

Xi knots the rope, the cord tight around her waist. Lowered down by Lan and Zhang, she drops out of view almost instantaneously, the dark swallowing up her figure. Your only hope now -- that the rope continues to pull tight against your hands.
Xi:
As you're lowered down into the hole, you suddenly can't see. All your greatest fears return to you -- you hear something growling in the dark, some flash of something behind you -- what was that? you wonder, hoping it was a trick of the light.
And then, all of a sudden, bright light floods your senses. You make out a room around you, the floor far beneath, before you close your eyes in pain. Out of nowhere, you hear a voice booming -- "Who is it?"

"Well," and here the speaker chuckles, "This is my tower. I believe you were looking for me?"

"Hey Mister. Can you make it easier for us to talk? So I'm not swinging from a rope separated from the others by darkness? Thank you if you can." says Xi.

"This doesn't seem right. I mean, this is too obvious for anyone to fall into the "trap". Before we go back down should we check the pit?"

"I'm 105 lbs without my gear. If that makes me the lightest I'll volunteer to go down. I've got 50 ft of rope."

Xi loops the rope around her waist & knots it.
"Alright, I'm ready. Lets lower me down. I'm estimating 5 ft of the rope was used to tie me so I'll go 40-45 ft down Wish me luck."
(I didn't see which skills were for climbing & knot-tying, so let me know & I'll roll.)

"That's Great. HEY GUYS, WE FOUND HIM!"
Zheng looks into the blackness.
“Nice! Can he remove the darkness or should we come down to meet you?”
