The dirt appears to be just, that, dirt. The rubble seems similarly unremarkable. If there was reason or ritual behind its placement, you cannot divine it.
On mobile, so do not have map. Will post one tomorrow...
This room is littered with rubble and freshly turned earth. Sitting next to a barrel next to an opening on the far side of the wall, is a kobold dozing quietly in a small wooden chair.
While you cannot see the entire room, you can see that there are at least 3 zombies shambling the kobold. Neither the zombies nor the kobold are aware of your presence outside in the hallway.
Casmenos will retreat to rejoin the others and explain the situation; 3 zombies that appear to be thralls to a kobold, which is sleeping. And the dirt in this room appears to be coming from where that kobold is digging. "We should really capture that kobold alive to question it."
I will of course prep a map when it is needed, but, if you do decide charge in, I am going to need position/marching order before I make one or try to resolve anything.
From your brief glance around the corner (to expedite things, I did have you glance around two), you know that it the room itself is about 30' x 20', with your entrance in the north west, and the north eastern section on a diagonal. The snoozing kobold is in the far south eastern corner of the room, positioned at the other exit. Assuming the zombies are active, it is unlikely you could close to melee range with the soundly sleeping kobold without provoking at least one of them.
Casmenos closes his eyes and assesses the options given his mental image of the room. He turns to the others and asks, "Can anyone turn undead? If the zombies flee us, we can approach the Kobold without waking it."
"No." Destin replies in a hushed tone. "I can't, but I have two axes that can cleave into its skull." He readies to go in. "I'll take the corpse, the rest of you focus on catching that kobold."

The dirt is just dirt, let's move on says Marrow. He looks rapidly around the room, expecting skeletons to leap out and attack at any moment.
Camenos will move north and peek around the corner into the east passage.

Shambling around the kobold?
They are clearly active and in position that they would clearly be aware of the kobolds presence, but they take no interest in him.

"Fine." Destin whispers. "I'll go take the zombie, you go and get the kobold." He takes his axes, ready to go charge into the room.
Tumal is prepared.
I will of course prep a map when it is needed, but, if you do decide charge in, I am going to need position/marching order before I make one or try to resolve anything.
Destin will be near the front, ready to charge out at the zombie.
Casmenos will also be in the front, in position to charge the Kobold (or attack a zombie on he way to the Kobold if not able to reach it).

Tumal will be near the back as usual.
Marrow is playing bodyguard to Cassyt, and is next to her if space allows, or just in front.
Casmenos closes his eyes and assesses the options given his mental image of the room. He turns to the others and asks, "Can anyone turn undead? If the zombies flee us, we can approach the Kobold without waking it."
Bastian grins. "Is that actually real? Banishing the undead. I have never seen such."
Bastian takes a place behind Casmenos and Destin to lend support.
Tumal slowly shakes his head, his eyes wide.
"No." Destin replies in a hushed tone. "I can't, but I have two axes that can cleave into its skull." He readies to go in. "I'll take the corpse, the rest of you focus on catching that kobold."
Kelvin hangs back from the party, and looks over the door we bypassed.
