Dealuri readies her longbow and paces back and forth in an arc behind the wizards. At each end of her arc, she clicks her heels together then turns around to resume “watching their backs.” The routine has the appearance of a ritual and if asked, she will report that this is how she used to spend her time on guard duty. If asked for more details, she will report that she would do this mind-numbing ritual for 8 hours straight, which might have contributed to the vacant look on her face and empty thoughts in her head.
Skritchwill join the magic circle and add his Arcana skills (+4). he's hoping his magic familiar, Sunhill, can give him advantage, by helping him focus.
WHile Sunhill lies in front of Skritch, staring into his eyes with total adoration, Skritch aids in the mystic endeavour by using his telepathic powers to share the rhythms of eldritch feeling between each of the ritual participants, letting them feel , via him as a kind of mental switchboard (a 'Skritchboard', if you will!), the intensity of each others' arcane thoughts, when power is needed, when its apt to ease off, when everyone needs to surge together. Like, er, that.
Arcane roll (with advantage) = 20
Arcane roll(without, if Sunhill's focus is not advantage-giving) = 10
Vakas gets in position to guard the door to allow the wizards to complete the ritual. He pulls out his bow and nocks an arrow, keeping an eye on their perimeter as they begin.. He leans over to Dealuri, saying "Keep your eyes peeled. It sounds like they are expecting something to emerge and disrupt their methods. As ... whatever ... appproaches, we'll drop and switch to close combat. I can try to make one of them float in the air. I wish there was a good place to ambush anyone who approaches.. but there's really now where to hide out here in the open. Let me know if you need me." Vakas makes himself ready, testing his bowstring.

A wizard is never late, nor is he early, he arrives precisely when he means to.
OOC: Skritch take inspiration for being the inventor of the "Skritchboard." The Arcana rolls have cut the ritual short though danger still awaits.
Rachus and Skritch, with the two of you aiding the ritual the wizards, Thanadol included begin to chant, arms held high. Rachus you feel the flow of magic as it surges around you, and Skritch you mind is ablaze with flicker of eldritch thought, sparking from one caster to the next, expertly directed by you and your faithful hound.
The shadows within the open doorway begin to crackle and spit with violet energy. The magic is building quickly and the hairs on the backs of you necks (and in the case if Skitch, all over you body) are standing on end.
Dealuri and Vakas roll for perception as you spot movement in the surrounding ruins.
Dealuri there is a sudden concussion of air in front of you as shadows gather and then suddenly explode into the shape of a slavering hound. The blink dog attacks Attack: 23 Damage: 7 as two more appear in the near distance.
Vakas you see movement in the shadows and then the appearance of the three beasts near Dealuri. There are more out there, and as the magic of the ritual builds around you the baying of the hounds fills the air. A fourth beast appears next to you, but you are ready and can take the first attack.
Skritch, Rachus and Thandol you are engaged in the ritual and the leave it may prologue the danger.
OOC: Currently one dog engaged with Vakas and on with Dealuri with two more nearby. All within 30ft reach of the party.
Really sorry guys! I thought it was at a standstill. I somehow turned off beyond notifications. I'll join in straight away, this won't be a problem again!
Skritchknows he should help his firm friends. But he can feel the pulse of the ritual. he knows if he leaves it could make everything take that much longer. And he knows that Sunhill is needed too. He's just a do staring up at a squirrel ratatosk doing his part.
Skritchdoesn't even have spare brain space in his tiny, furry head to send a telepathic good luck to his embattled companions. But he hopes he knows he's, er, barracking for them.
He does his best to discern how much longer the ritual will take...
(in case this is relevant in determining how many more rounds the ritual will take: Arcana: 5 + 4 = 9)
When it is her turn, Dealuri takes the damage (now at 28/35hp) and say, “Ouch! Bad doggy.” She quickly stows her longbow and draws her hand crossbow to shot the nearest beast (attack 11, damage 7). Her focus is keeping the dogs from attacking those doing the ritual, while not becoming a chew toy.
Vakas sees Dealuri being surrounded by these dogs appearing from nowhere, he starts to grip his bow tight, but suddenly one appears right next to him. He drops his bow and pulls out his dragon tooth dagger in his right hand, his short sword in his left. He begins swinging at the dog, saying in anger out of the blue to the creature in elvish, “Hû ú-gaun! Why do you attack us, why are you here? Go away dog, you don’t need to die today!”
Dragontooth dagger : 14 to hit, for 7 points of piercing damage, 5 points of acid damage, and due to his ring of elemental charge, another 2 points of fire damage.
With the nick skill with the dagger, he makes a second strike with his main action. 10 to hit (imagine this misses)
With his offhand, he swings the short sword at the beast. Short sword : 19 to hit, for 3 points of piercing damage.

OOC: No worries at all Thanadol. Welcome back. As soon as Vakas makes his move I'll progress the ritual/fight :)

OOC, dear DM, is this one of those rituals where, if Thanadol or Skritch burn a spell slot or two, they can speed the ritual up even more?
OOC: Skritch I believe the appropriate response to that question is "you can certainly try." :)
