Vazo’yn’s body is encased in magical energy, a visual representation of a handful of past lives and ancient spirits coalesce in a cocoon of the arcane. He releases the power upon those he sees will benefit from it the most and Joy, Randa, and Ylistopus all feel perked up a bit. They feel like their best possible selves, all things considered.

Ylistopus jabs the spear into the shark hide and its behaviors shift from aggressive to flighty. It has been Bloodied and now seeks escape. Despite Vazo’yn’s blessing, fatigue causes Joy’s every move to be tortured and clumsy. She misses her attack, but does succeed in barring the shark from fleeing with the swing of her blade.

That forceful redirection of the shark’s movement allows Randa the leverage she needs to cut the rope, and it snaps free of the shark’s body. She holds it high for a moment to alert the Fellowship of her success, then bolts toward the entrance.

The shark responds with a snap of its jaws, seizing her immediately with three rows on either size of razor-blade teeth (20 to Attack, 26 Piercing Damage🩸🩸🩸).

DM: Reactions anyone?

The shark snaps the life out of Randa as it clamps down on her and the blood loss is so significant, that she immediately loses consciousness. The shark then darts away, Randa still in its jaws as it adjusts its bite, sending another cloud of crimson into the water. Randa drops the Emerald Eye as she is carried south by the fleeing shark.

DM: Randa, please roll a Death Saving Throw. Opportunity Attack for Joy. Remember, Disadvantage on Melee Weapon Attacks unless you have a Swim Speed or are using a Piercing Weapon Attack.

The exhausted Ayo reels in shock and calls back down the tunnel. “Dermot! We need you. NOW!”

DM: Waiting a bit longer for Berk, then moving on. 

Berk is elated when he sees Randa grab the prize. "Why is there killing and bloodshed in this competition" he thinks, thinking back to the competitions he grew up with back in the mountains. "Sure the competitions were fierce, and sometime there was blood, but mostly from a broken nose, not from a shark!"

His thoughts are disrupted as the shark takes a large bite into Randa. "Damn. Damn. Damn" he mutters, "I thought we were done without anything dying..."

He will swim towards the shark, preparing to heal Randa, but is fearful the shark will take him before the fellowship can aid him.

Eldritch Blast 25 dmg: 8  [nat 20, crap dmg :( ]

DM: Sure! Pull on those threads of fate please! 

DM: With that rerolled die, that is a 19.

The sight of the cavern's waters filled with Randa's crimson lifeblood sent a chill down Vazo'yn's spine. He hurriedly wove an incantation in a desperate attempt to rewrite history and shunt them all onto a different path where Randa was safe and whole, but the swirling water distracted him and his words caught in his throat. The delicate magic fell out of his grasp and unravelled before him, disappearing into the blood-tinged water.

((Randa still has the D4 for her death saving throw from Bless and she can also have the advantage from Silvery Barbs.))

The shark repeatedly tosses Randa’s unconscious body around in its mouth, her form tumbling within its jaws. She bleeds still, but less severely due to already serious amounts of blood loss, causing a pink haziness in the water around the shark’s front.

Ayo sees the Emerald Eye drop to the floor, close enough for her to grab at her speed. She looks at Joy, wholly fixed on the shock and horror of her friend being mangled alive (for now). She remembers earlier in the day when Joy made a choice that she wishes she had, not for the glory, but because it simply was right. Ayo turns away from the Emerald Eye with her lips flattened into a hard line. Her eyes are set in a resolute squint and she darts out as fast as she can directly at the shark.

“Ayo, wait!” the badly bruised Maggie says from the mouth of the tunnel. She pulls herself through into the cave with a desperation. Dermot and Galsariad come into view as they rush through the tunnel to see Ayo endanger her life. Dermot says nothing, but the concern is clearly written on his already deeply lined face.

Ayo spins like a drill and does a flip before the shark’s nose, landing on it feet first and using the force of her momentum, mixed with her own powerful legs to force the shark’s mouth open. The teeth of the shark dig into Ayo’s feet and she grunts loudly against the stabbings, but presses on, grabbing Randa’s body and pulling it from the shark’s mouth.

In a single heave, Ayo rips Randa free and throws her with all her might, difficult to do underwater, and she certainly is not built for strength, but her inherent gifts in water aid her here, and Randa’s body sails 10ft from the shark, just within reach of Ylis.

Ayo kicks off the shark, as it bears down on her. Maggie bellows an anguished war cry that carries vibrations to everyone in the chamber. 

DM: Fellowship, go!

Ylis growls a deep bunny growl (she is/was back in bunny form after the spear stab). Rage at the shark competing with the need to save her friend. "Gggggrawr! You you you rrrrrr!"

She points a finger at the shark and launches a small mote of light shaped like a carrot.

Casting Starry Wisp at the shark Attack: 22 Damage: 4

Then she looks upon her massively abused friend, wiping a tear away she says, "May the Moonweaver make you whole."

Casting Healing Word lvl 2 for 14 Healing on Randa.

 OOC: I posted this but want to change my action. F that shark, Randa can wait 1 round for healing.

Ylis lets loose a grumble and a curse, "Burn, you *****!" casting Heat Metal on the spear for 4 Fire Damage.

Vazo'yn shakes his head and tries to focus, reaching deep down into the repository of memory and power that whispers in his mind as he swims deeper into the cave. He calls out an incantation that ripples through the water towards Randa. A dozen quiet voices fill Randa's mind as some of her wounds are magically healed.

He continues his spell weaving, but now focuses his attentions on the shark, his healing whispers becoming a confusing cacophony in the shark's mind.

Bonus action: Healing Word on Randa for 11 HP.
Action: Vicious Mockery for 4 Psychic damage and disadvantage on the next attack if the shark fails a DC 13 Wisdom saving throw.
