The narrow tunnel of stone amplifies the volume of Morgan's voice. His sudden alarm is echoes down the sewers. Frekor is suitably warned.
Randa however, is nudged out of the way in Morgan's urgency. The consequence is mostly harmless, but Randa did have to stop herself by reaching out and touching the wall. Ewwww.
Randa could feel the Filth on her hand....though could not see it being invisible......she tensed as she tried to resist wiping her hand on the back of Frekors clothing.
Then she sighed....she'd had her hands inside rotting dead things....both animate and sessile.....a bit of recycled matter wasn't going to do any real harm....
DM: We will assume Frekor chooses to not step on the stone. He may be having internet troubles again. In the meantime, the party can either move on, or investigate the out of place stone, or some other activity I am not thinking of.
DM: We will assume Frekor chooses to not step on the stone. He may be having internet troubles again. In the meantime, the party can either move on, or investigate the out of place stone, or some other activity I am not thinking of.
(OOC: Yes, Frekor won't step on the stone. I didn't have internet problems, I can post a little because it's late.)
-Thanks for the heads up Morgan. I'll be more carefull.- says the ranger.
-I think that is a trap. It's a classic in this kind of places. We should move on.- adds.
The party does move on. It isn't long before they are so deep in the tunnels, that without Frekor, the party would surely have gotten lost. Morgan's keep senses continue to identify oddities along the path. Soon however, the blood abruptly stops. The party is roughly 30 minutes into the sewers at a pace careful enough to look for similar stone irregularities.
Randa kneels down and can see quite a bit of smudging of grime from foot traffic. There are prints of dozens of people that have come this way, both forward and back hundreds of times. This appears to be a commonly used sewer tunnel for some people.
Ylis looks up and can see a series of pipes running along the ceiling. That’s not what draws her attention however. No, it is the pair of eyes nestled in a shadowy cloak looking down at her from the other side of the pipes that pull her attention away from the pipes. A Cheshire cat smile creeps along the hooded figure, a male tiefling, and he waves his hands over his face. “Whoops. Shade away,” he stage whispers. Almost as if his hand wipes him from creation, he disappears.
Frekor looks around and notices that there are distant spectators at both ends of the sewer tunnel. Eyes that reflect the light of Ylis’ spear can be seen in the distance. There is a huffing sound and a small creature approaches from beyond the range of the light.
Small indeed, it is half Ylis’ height. Red, with squat goat legs and a jelly belly that hangs over the belt line. The creature’s face is smushed, like it was fashioned from clay and then pressed down. In fact, nearly every feature it has can be described as such. All except for its mouth. That is far larger than a creature its size would need and practically non-functional with how many overly large teeth it has. It waves a white sheet as it approaches, signaling that it does not intend to harm. It stops about 20ft from the party, well within the range of the light.
“You… seem lost,” it says with a halting manner of speech. “Maybe… you want a... guide to… get out.” The last part doesn't seem much like an offer as much as a command.
The figures in the distance do not move. They watch intently, as still as statues.
Randa moved her hand rapidly and ' obviously' towards her weapon looking for reactions so she can tell if they can see her, if they do not react she slips passed Frekor and moves invisibly further down the tunnel.....suspecting the tiefling is doing the same......
"We're not actually lost, but thanks for the offer," Ylis replies with a smile. "But we are looking for a friend. And he is actually lost. Have you seen him?"

"............anybody got any potatoes? We could drop a potato in each hole an' see which ones get viciously mauled by horrible monsters?"
None of the persons in the distance, nor the little imp, seem to respond to Randa’s quiet (and invisible) movements. She silently creeps her way past the imp and toward the people deeper down the tunnel. As she moves closer to the silent figures, there are about half a dozen men and women of various species. There is also one demon present. It watches the party hungrily, but does not take any aggressive action. It stands hunched over with long, gangly limbs, with four claws on each hand that are as long as daggers. It has no neck and a horn on its back that arches over to be aligned with the two horns on either side of its head. The creature has an elongated jaw that stretches down its front with an array of nasty teeth.
“No friends… down here,” the squat imp grunts. “Go back… while you are… permitted.”
Randa fixes the demons position in her mind as she retreats back the way she came and invisibly whispers to Frekor trusting that Ylis lagomorphic ears will pick up what she said.
" Big Demon and six possible cultists ahead......I can attempt to banish it.....or we can retreat."
"Hey so uh maybe we'll just go back the way we came right?" Ylis keeps her awareness up, but begins to back away. "We'll just be on our way and not bother you at all."

Frowning, Morgan slowly backs away, trying to make sense of what is happening down there. "If anyone smarter than me understands what the actual hell is going on here... who are these people?"
He adds, more to himself than anyone else, "Do you think it's fine to let devils do their business under the town? I don't think I'll sleep peacefully tonight..."
