OoC: @NBDM, for future reference (and you may know this already), if you're on the desktop version of the site, you can use the combat tab in the dice roller menu and it will use a macro that automatically rolls crit dice if the attack roll is a nat 20. I've definitely been bitten by trying to edit posts with rolls in them before!
The large pirate glances at Kosadius, but decides to go for the more pressing problem of the first mate. He roars, swinging recklessly at him and hitting. The first mate barely flinches.
Zandak swings from the hook back onto the ship, he looks to his allies and yells, “Can anyone throw me a weapon please!?” As he yells that he will run up to the large pirate and go for an unarmed strike since he lost his spear.
"Have you not heard a word I have said!" Seeing that he is been ignored, he actually growls but swings once again, trying to hit the big brute once again, this man needs to go down.
Using a bonus action to toss a javelin over to Zandak, so he's got a pointy end to use again, Grugg then rears his great-axe over his head and brings it down with his full might!
Eili performs a magic trick! First there was just one pirate. *SlashSlash* Now there are 3! Zandak tries to punch his pirate, but misses. Grugg tosses Zandak a spear, which he catches, and then turns to the pirate before him. He splits the deck beside the pirate with his axe.
Grugg's pirate tries to head back, but nearly collides with the pirate already on the rope. She has no choice but to swing at one of the sailors blindly, missing by a mile. The one that just joined her slashes at the other sailor, and misses similarly. A pirate arrives beside the big pirate, and takes a swing at Kosadius. Missing THE EXACT SAME WAY AS THE PIRATES(I just rolled 3 3s in a row!)! Zandak's pirate swings at him, hitting him in the shoulder and dealing 5 damage.
The first mate leaves his shortsword in the big pirate, slashing twice with his longsword, hitting once. There is genuine fear in the big pirate's eyes now.
The pirate captain fires at Captain Ortimay, missing her by an inch.
Kosadius stabs at the berserker, but is easily deflected.
Captain Ortimay leaves Eili to deal with the pirate currently climbing across the gap, and joins the first mate, slashing at the big pirate twice with her cutlass, and attempting to plunge a dagger into him. She hits with all three attacks, slicing both his arms right off, and plunging a dagger into his heart. The big pirate yells out and staggers back, his lifeblood pouring out of him. Captain Ortimay pushes him off the ship with her foot, and he falls into the water. He screams as he becomes lunch for a bunch of ravenous sharks, and his screams are suddenly cut short as a shark takes his head in its mouth, and leaves his body behind.
In Druidic, Zandak will quickly speak, “May the gods of nature guide me this day.” Then tries to slice at the big pirate with his new javelin right at his big throat.
Alvyn steps back out into the half-illusory vestibule and peers through the faux door to assess the scene. He sees the two pirates playing cards on their ship starting to get up, and mutters something to himself about raising the stakes, then raises the hand holding the scraggly piece of wood, says something in gnomish about poppies, and points toward the poker table. A deck of cards appears on the table and bursts into a shower of poppy petals. The pirates start to yawn.
Cast sleep, affecting 20 HP worth of pirates on their ship.
(Oh, I know, I just don't know where everyone is exactly. It sounds like there are at least two pirates on the ropes, maybe more? but also some friendly sailors. Not sure if there's a circle that contains those two and no allies. )
(Oh! Thanks! I didn't get that most everyone was on the ropes. Was thinking much of the action was happening on board our ship. In that case, given how intermingled everyone is, Alvyn will just target the poker-playing pirates with his spell.)
(Thanks, I know it's a pain to do that. Would be nice to be able to just carry on with a TotM narrative, since describing precise locations isn't exactly scintillating storytelling; but some of these mechanics just seem to presume that you have a grid...)
(Most of the time not everyone was on the ropes, but the last group of 4 pirates just started climbing.)
Both pirates yawn, but neither falls asleep.
The two sailors near grugg slash once more at their respective pirates, but both miss. The sailor near Eili shoots at the pirate captain with a crossbow, and hits him in the foot. The captain yelps, and frantically yells at the poker-players to start fighting. The sailor near Kosadius stabs at the nearby pirate, and barely nicks her. The sailor down with Zandak chops at the pirate, and gets him in the arm.
The poker-players get out a heavy crossbow each and aim for the captain and the 1st mate. The captain is hit in the leg, but it isn't deep.
(Grugg, Eili, Zandak)

This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.
Grugg, seeing the battle unfold, and the pirate captain felled without his anger to assist him to death, he stares deep into the soul of the pirate in front of him with all the rage inside the barbarian's core bubbling to the brim.
"Grugg play games no more!"
Grugg attacks the pirate in front of him...you know, the one he's failed to hit with remarkable consistency.

(@NBDM - Wow, great natural 20's! At least as a group, we're averaging out ok)
