"Ignorance is bliss, and you look absolutely miserable."
Raaldo had been in one place long enough. Ever the wanderer, he could not stay settled in one place for very long. His life as a monk had afforded him the opportunity to both help those in need and still satisfy that itch for adventure that he always had. Even as a young man, he was always looking for a new place to be, or a new site to see. To this end he decided that he would ask around if perhaps there were any groups traveling abroad that may tolerate the company of a new acquaintance. Being one who enjoyed a fine ale (or several), he was in a local tavern one evening, inquiring about such when the barman mentioned that weeks earlier he had seen something posted on the poster posting post about just such a thing.
Finding an old copy of the poster, Raaldo contacted Syndra Sylvane and was told that just such a party would arrive at the port soon. So he made his way down to Port Nyanzaru where he began asking the longshoremen about any recent arrivals.

Zandak will use druidcraft to create a rose in his hand while resting during the rest of the trip. He concentrates on the rose, thinking of how beautiful nature is. He lives for it, he was born by it, and feels blessed for becoming a guardian of nature.
You dock in a tropical city under the blazing sun. The familiar sounds of a harbor — creaking ropes, slapping waves, heavy barrels rolling across cobblestones — mingle with voices shouting and cursing in an unfamiliar language filled with clicks, inhalations, and singsongy words that make it sound almost musical. The aroma of unfamiliar spices and tropical fruit mixes with the wharfside smells of fish, tar, and canvas.
Beyond all that, Port Nyanzaru is an explosion of color. Buildings are painted in bright shades of blue, green, orange, and salmon pink, or their walls are adorned with murals portraying giant reptiles and mythical heroes. Every building sports baskets and clay urns of colorful flowers or is draped in leafy, flowering vines. Minstrels in bright clothing adorned with feathers and shells perform on street corners. Multicolored pennants and sun awnings flutter atop the city walls. A crowd of children dressed in feathered hats and capes races past you, squealing in delighted terror as a street performer costumed as a big-toothed lizard stomps and roars behind them. The whole city seems to be bustling, sweating, laughing, swearing, and singing.
The crew quickly departs to go restock supplies and do... ship stuff, leaving you to explore the city.
´´You should check in with the harbormaster. I heard that there was a reward for any pirates that you managed to capture. His office is thataway.´´

"Ignorance is bliss, and you look absolutely miserable."
Kosadius will assume that the body of their now deceased companion will be taken care of along the way. Most of his time is spent prayingp on what had occurred. Once they reach port, he gets ready to continue the quest they are on. He looks at the others. " Thank you captain for the voyage. Now, let us see this harbor master and see what kind of reward there is for this pirate. Once that is done, we need to figure out how best to continue our quest. Maybe a day and night to figure out next steps."
With that he starts to head towards the indicated building.
( I will assume Alvyn has taken the bag of holding?)
(If it's an actual magical bag of holding, which would've been obvious based on the way it looked when it had stuff in it, then yes. I don't want to presume magical items without DM confirmation though...)
"Yes, indeed, let's go visit this so-called 'master of the harbor'," says Alvyn. "I'm all for being compensated for our hard work... putting our lives in danger and all that."
Grugg takes in the colors and bustling of life in Port Nyanzaru, causing a big smile to appear across his barbarian jaw-line. His teeth are remarkably white and even more remarkably, still a complete set. In Grugg's tribe, this is typically unusual and indicative of unrivaled combat prowess. Not that Grugg has demonstrated this so far into the adventure, mind you.
"Grugg body need armor. Grugg belly need food. Ship food taste like feet. Grugg follow Paladin and Tiny Magic Gnome." He says as he continues to take in the scenery in motion surrounding him.
Kosadius seems to keep himself well groomed, even his chain mail seems to have been cleaned and kept as much as possible. " Grugg, my apologies for not keeping my promise, I could not protect or save our companion. I wish not to lose more on this quest." as he looks back at all of them. " Master Alvyn, Master Zandak. I wish to extend my pledge to protect you both verbally. Though now with one less, this quest has become a bit more difficut. I wonder if we could find a guide of sort or at least and extra hand to help us." There is a slight concern on his face but that quickly goes away, smiling once again.
Grugg looks Kosadius squarely in the eyes and says with the type of sincerity that only a barbarian could muster, "Not Paladin's fault. All die someday. Maybe next one strong like Grugg. Then you not need to worry. If not strong like Grugg, Paladin and Grugg protect together."Grugg extends his arm out to clasp Kosadius' in a warrior's grip.
There's a sincere smile on Kosadius face and so in turn does clasp the big man's forearm, which by many standards makes his own have look small. " Grugg, let us hope as you say. I shall not give up until my last dying breath, though I don't think it will come to that if we all work together." Now slowly letting go of the big man's forearm.
" After seeing this harbor master, we to go search for supplies and hopefully find better equipment suitable for this environment. Grugg mentioned something about armor. Perhaps this harbor master has a map of this city so that we can find our way around."
Zandak looks at the rose in his hand that he has been staring at almost the whole trip. He looks to Kosadius, walks up to him and offers him the rose, “I and the power of nature are always your friend. We will get through this, let’s go.” Zandak moves toward the direction of the harbormaster
This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.
"If you lot don't mind, I think I might go try to study these scrolls while you talk to the harbormaster," says Alvyn. "I'm sure you can convey to me whatever it is he has to say afterwards... And, of course, distribute my share of the reward for this pirate's capture."
Alvyn will spend the requisite 25gp and one hour to attempt to learn Detect Magic from the scroll on the ship. Arcana: 20
Unfortunately, while practicing the incantation for the spell, Alvyn inadvertently switches the order of the syllables in the primordial word for "reveal", which happens to produce the word "immolate", and causes the scroll to catch fire.
"Damn. I suppose I should have waited until I was freshly rested to try that instead of doing it fresh off of a godsforsaken ship."
OoC: Missed the check by 1! I only needed to roll a 5, and managed to roll a 4... Ugh.
Grugg witnesses the Gnome's failed attempt to learn a new spell and erupts in a loudly violent laughter.
"HAHAHAHAHAHA!!!!! Tiny Magic Gnome, Grugg sorry. Grugg find that very funny to watch. Maybe we find magic spell scroll to buy. Make Tiny Magic Gnome smarter. And more deadly." Grugg, while almost doubling over in laughter at the smell of Alvyn's singed eyebrows, is sincere in his companionship towards him. He knows all too well how powerful the arts of magic can prove themselves to be on the field of battle.
