As CRAP talks it out, it becomes clear that most members favor the boat approach. Villonah answers Raist's question: "Well, there are the four of you, plus Biscuit, and then me. So, six in total. Can your boat take all of us?"
Knowing when he's out voted, Utar concedes. "By boat it is then. We need to ideally have space for anyone Aleyd's found too, plus Sagin. So more than 6 but small enough that we're not too obvious."
"Aye, and if it comes down to it, me and Biscuit can also swim and... relatively keep up."Doozey claims with Biscuit nodding in agreement. The halfling then clapped his hands together and adds with a note of impatience in his voice, "So, if we're settled then, let's get to it! Raist? If'n ya would do the honors? Don't let Utar make ya worry over the size of it start'n out. Fer as you well know, most of their focus is on the city and things inward. And even if they spot us, we'll...adapt."
With an agreement reached, Raistunfolds his boat and welcomes the party onto his newly formed keelboat.
The trip from the docks over to the residential district is quite brief. The private wharfs in the district (owned by some warehouse that couldn't claim space in the already crowded port district) make it a fairly convenient route with a natural place to drop anchor. There are two of them, but one it taken by ships that have been left here and presumably already confiscated by either the Cult of the Dragon or the Tears of Virulence.
(OOC: I don't think proficiency in vehicles is a thing in the 2024 rules anymore, but the Keelboat still needs at least one crew member to be operated, so I'll ask for one volunteer to take temporary captaincy of the vessel. I think this falls under the realm of a survival check.)
(OOC: Leaving the docks brings us to the end of ACT I - THE COMING OF OLD GNAWBONES. You should each add 5,000 XP to your character sheets. Details will be posted in the OOC channel. This should bring everyone to a total XP amount of 139,700.)
"Having to adapt is what I'm most worried about. Do you know how much full plate weights, never mind a mace!"
Stepping to the keelboat, Utar finally admits, "I would just rather not drown in a canal is all."
He stays close to whoever is steering this thing, ready to offer them Torm's mighty aid should they ever need it, he mumbles a number of prayers to Torm throughout their journey.
In spite of the seriousness of the situation and Utar's clear discomfort, Doozey cannot help but smile a little after the admission and tried to further assure his orcish compatriot. "Aww, give yerself some credit, Utar. I'm sure between yer Torm having yer back, and those orc muscles of yers, ya can manage well enough to make it to shore if it came to it! That bloke ya scared into taking a swim certainly did!" He claims, ignoring the fact said victim of Utar's command had only needed tread water for a few moments. "But, if'n it'a make ya feel better, Raist? If ya got any magic left in ya, mind passing it along for the worry wort?" The halfling requests, before finally boarding the ship with Biscuit in tow.
And after turning and offering Villinoah some gentlemanly assistance on board (and in fairness, doing much the same for Neya, had she not jumped onboard ahead of him), Doozey took a moment to familiarize himself with the ship, prior to taking up command of the vessel, seeing as he perhaps had the most experience as a far traveling soul. Biscuit endeavors to help wherever possible. Yet, if it quickly became clear the best help was to avoid being underfoot, then the mastiff more than happily took up a position near the prow of the ship to keep a lookout for trouble from the shoreline.
-Survival: 20. (if Biscuit can help in any way, here's the adv. roll: 29). Plus Guidance: 1.
If not able to aid, here's a [skills]perception[/skills] from Biscuit for keeping a general lookout: 27.
(OOC: If as mentioned in discord Pass Without Trace would be viable in the current situation, Doozey would cast that as well)

Utar admits to being somewhat concerned about having to swim with all his heavy gear on, and CRAP finds a brief moment of levity within the chaos engulfing Phlan. Doozey volunteers to steer the boat but asks for some assurances for the group, and especially Utar. To that, Raist responds by asking for a bit of extra time to properly cast a Water Breathing ritual. He plucks an bunch of reeds from the nearby body of water and begins to focus his spellcasting so quickly,' that others don't even have a chance to protest the length of the ritual before he gets started, if that was something passing through their minds.
Surely enough, halfway through the ritual, a Tears of Virulence patrol comes to check on their comrades at the docks. Upon spotting a murder scene, they immediately square up for a fight. Five armored fighters and two more of those spell casting kobolds rush in to try to enact revenge on CRAP.

Utar picks the nearest Tear of Virulence and aims Bonecounter towards them. A bolt of light shrieks from Bonecounter towards the Tear.
The Orc then proceeds to get as close to the end of the gangplank as he can using his normal movement, aiming to prevent any Tears from getting onboard themselves.
Action: Cast guiding bolt (first level spell slot) at the nearest Tear (Y,14). Attack: 27 Damage: 16
"Here we go again. Everyone! Cushion the pin!" Doozey calls out, hoping to remind the group of anti-archery defense portion of their training. "Biscuit! Foxtrot!" In the wake of the mastiff's "BOOF!"of confirmation, both ranger and bestial companion race down the docks. But where as the latter advanced towards cover further along the boardwalk and took up a defensive posture, the latter could only get so far doing much the same.
Nevertheless, this hadn't stopped the halfling from mystically marking one of the kobold's as 'quarry', before slinging several specialized bullets the Kobolds way. Each one popping upon impact, releasing a suffocating black powder.
Movement(Biscuit): To S-13. (Taking cover, if possible behind crates nearby)
Bonus Action(Doozey): Mark Kobold(AA-8) as his Favored Foe(3 of 4 remaining).
Action: Attacks using Cloudy Day Surprise. (Lethal, Long Range, Choker)Sling - Attack #1 - 17 Damage: 9 of bludgeoning at Kobold(AA-8). (23,8) (Lethal, Long Range, Choker)Sling - Attack #2 - 11 Damage: 9 of bludgeoning at Kobold(Z-5). (19,6)
Movement(Doozey-Remaining): To O-14 and fall prone behind crates.
(OOC: Forgot to add mention of it, but Con Save(DC 14) for each of those attacks that hit or the target becomes incapacitated until the end of Doozey's next turn)
(If target goes down, switch main target to Z-13 and secondary target becomes AA-14. Primary target also gets the Slow mastery effect applied.)
Slow mastery:
Slow. If you hit a creature with a Longbow and deal damage to it, you can reduce its Speed by 10 feet until the start of your next turn. If the creature is hit more than once by weapons that have this property, the Speed reduction doesn’t exceed 10 feet.
