When he finally turned from looking at Clotha, any semblence of friendly comradery fell away to reveal the monster Ned could be.
"Well, shit..." muttered Ardwynn as she instinctively pulled her powers to her to direct an Eldritch Blast at the menacing form of Ned the Hob.

Too small a space and too many bodies. Ardwynn's hope for a devastating blast fizzled as she had to shift in the last moment to miss her companions and Clotha.
He does have a Polearm Master reaction attack if an enemy enters within the 10' reach of his halberd, which would certainly apply if Ned makes an aggressive move. And earlier, I had narratedBarn as having put himself between Ned and the rest of the party.
Reg is pretty quick on the action especially compared to the rest of the gang (except Ardwynn). But the older man is still slower than the fae. initiative: 13
Ardwynns conjured dweomer misses its target, as it does so all of the twisted roots that comprise the walls of the chamber convulse and thrash, though notably those around Clotha remain unmoving.

The flickering shadow gathered in Neds palm became black flame as the fay horror threw it at Barns face.
Action: Cast Bonfire: DEX DC 12, 5 fire damage on fail.
Move: To Clotha, try to get her to the exit, 25’ of movement.
The trapper was once again not agile enough to avoid the animated roots and took a blow to the back. He answered the fae’s dark fire either his own, throwing a small pinecone at Ned’s feet.
”I told you, you’d have brought bad luck upon your home by not performing the broom jump with your new bride.”
Reg then moves to grab Clotha, “We have to get you outta here, come on.”
Barn's DC10 DEX Save to avoid bludgeoning damage: 16 (success)
Wading through the thrashing roots as they smash off the greaves of his chain mail, the big man advances to close within 10' of the suddenly threatening Ned, who seems to be chanting about heroes again in away that Barn does not fully comprehend.
"I... I r-really don't want to fight you, y-you know?" The big man's voice almost sounds forlorn. "B-but, I don't want my friends to d-die either."
Having been trained to use his polearm effectively, even in close quarters, Barn shortens his grip and swings the halberd in a narrow arc, but more roots get in the way, unbalancing him and causing the blade to flash well wide of Ned, but the follow-through with the haft is better aimed. Then, instead of stepping back away as he has been trained, the big man closes with Ned, getting in the hobgoblin's face, hoping to provide an opening for his companions.
Movement: Barn moves up within 10' of Ned, makes his main and bonus Polearm attacks, then 5' more right up to Ned. (for Smiling Jack'sSneak Attack?) Reg summoned flames into being but Neds too-long legs took him clear of the flames as they appeared, Reg then ran towards Clotha where she stood near the curtain and began moving her towards the well.
Smiling Jack ducked in close to Ned sticking him in the side with his blade, " Thats it, again!", hissed Ned.
The haft of Barns weapon clubs Ned in the ribs provoking a painted chuckle, " We all play our parts."
Jack slides up beside Ned and launches a punch and a kick at him but the shadows flickering around Ned seem to catch the impacts before the hit Ned himself.
Ardwynn again calls on the power gifted to her by the Fay....but Ned seems to sense the taste of a power like his own and simply sidesteps the blast with a wicked grin.
The fungi growing on the roots in this chamber wax and swell launching spores into the air....
( DC 10 Con Save or 2 Poison Damage. The spores seem to actively avoid approaching Clotha so Reg is unaffected, and something about Jacks past illness prevents them from affecting him.)
Ned sketches a bow to Smiling Jack and rakes at him with his now long hooked claws...
Reg continues to hold onto Clotha and move with her to the well bottom. (Unclear how willing she is, or if this is considered ‘difficult terrain’ because of the two.)
”Get ready to pull up Clotha!” He calls up to Caelan at the top of the well once he reaches the rope. He begins to attach the rope around her waist.
