Berlyn comes to consciousness as the potion takes effect. She looks up and sees J"Sahriel's worried face. What she says sinks in. "Trigger, where?"She tries to scramble to her feet. The pain from the bite slows her, but she stumbles toward their guide. Emmanuel is next to him with a potion. "Save that!" she says and murmurs a word in elvish. The mark on her shoulder warms with imbued magic as she sings to Trigger.
Trigger's eyes flicker open, no longer glowing as they were at the start of the scuffle.
"Well... that hurt..."
His face is unreadable.
As he sits up and takes in both the bodies scattered about and the state of his teammates, he says,
"We need to find a place to hole up for a bit it seems."

"We are close to the entrance; might be a good idea to fall back and come back with a plan to avoid these gangs." Emanuel says with a look of worry on his face. "This is exactly why I offered to pay them off in the first place; so that nobody would get hurt." Tears still sit in Emanuel's eyes.
"Maybe we should inspect this area to the south where the rats came from,"Berlyn peers in that direction (does she she anything?). "I don't think we should backtrack, but I do think we all need to rest up a bit. That bite hurt!"
She looks at Emmanuel quizzically. "There is a good chance they would have jumped us even if we paid them. We probably look like easy marks; sometimes it's good to be underestimated, but not so good the reverse."
She looks at her injured companions. "Jhess, you okay?"
"If we backtrack, we risk drawing the attention of other gangs that may also be watching the sewers or even other 'jackals' waiting for their friends to come back out. Neither of those things would be good for us. I suggest we find a chamber we can easily block off or defend."
Trigger stands and walks over to the wolf-boy shifter.
"As for how we should have dealt with this fellow, we should have knocked him out and moved on. That way he couldn't have gathered his friends until he woke up. Would have let us get some distance on them at least."

"Agreed." Emanuel says. "I'll trust the people down here a little less from now on. As for resting, find us a spot and I'll guard the entrance; I'm unscathed." He says with a determined voice, wiping the loose tears from his eyes.
J'Sahriel stares off into the distance for a while, standing over the wolf-boy that she killed. Her face is an odd mixture of anger, sadness, and...grief? Disappointment? It's hard to really tell what she's thinking.
When Trigger comes over and says his piece about knocking the boy out, J'Sahriel nods, though not very enthusiastically. Then she walks over to the unconscious but still breathing cat-boy.
"What do we do with this one?"she asks no one in particular, tapping the still figure gently on the side with her foot. "I...I didn't want to kill him..."

"I think I will check the others, see what they have on them."Berlyn goes to wolfish guy first. She is all business just how she has been trained to react in a crisis, but she might be affected more than she is willing to admit.
"Most of the gangs in these parts operate from a place of desperation. It is not likely you will find much on them, Miss Berlyn."
Trigger begins looking about for signs of a safe place to rest.

'Lily' stiffens for a moment as Eman pulls her in for a tighter hug, but then she relaxes in his grip as the realization dawns on her that her deception has not turned Eman against her. She leans in to whisper in his ear. "We can talk about this later if you need. Please do not tell the others just yet." She lets herself be helped to her feet and she looks around at the carnage and the angry, still burning wound on her body. "I'm sorry you had to hurt them, Eman." She says as she walks over and places a hand upon his shoulder. "And thank you, for saving me. This fight turned badly very quick."
Berlyn will help Trigger find a place to rest. She feels like she needs to be busy for the moment, stay active and alert until they are safe enough to relax and recover.
Lily puts her arm around his shoulders and pulls him close. "Emanuel, sometimes bad things happen and that is an awful truth of life. No matter your best intentions, there will be those who will seek to harm you and those around you. People such as these folk have place no value on other's lives, because their own lives hold no value to themselves. You cannot reason with people such as that. I am very sorry this violence was heaped upon your shoulders, but you kept all of us safe. If not for your heroism, we likely all would have died in these sewers with no one to know any better."
Eman leans into your embrace, pulling you tight against him as he quietly sobs into your shoulder. After a long moment he pulls away, wipes his face, and quitely says; "Thank you."
Lily stoically allows Eman his moment, giving the others an intense look over his shoulder that speaks clearly that she expects them not to interrupt. "You are welcome. It's not an easy thing to accept or understand, Eman, but it IS a part of life. Especially in Sharn."

Trigger, with Berlyn's help, you determine it actually isn't that unsafe to stay in the room from which the rats had appeared from. A preliminary examination reveals that there are no more dangers in the room, plus you could use the shadows to your own advantage should any unsavory types show up. There is also the added fact that the entrance to this foundry you are looking for is nearby.
An hour passes, but the unconscious shifter still shows no sign of awakening. You have received the benefits of a long rest.
