Neona and Luna are not exactly stealthy types, but they do their best not to give away the party's position, leaping out to surprise the enemy.

Elery holds on her more expensive spells for this moment, seeing as her energy to cast magic is precious, and also, Neona is already helping.

During the party's ambush, Elery chooses to attack with the cantrip Fire Bolt.

You all get setup and wait. The two militiamen chat and laugh lightly as they reach the top of the steps. After a few moments, they stroll toward the cart. You can hear them talking about their favorite brew at the Old Hag and why.

When they’re close enough, you all get the drop. Each of you leap out move to attack them. They don’t have time to react and wear a mixture of confusion and shock on their faces.

Luna’s attack is wide and both militia step out of its way. Neona lunges but is knocked away by one of the militiamen with his gauntlet.

Tristan’s rapier glances off a shoulder guard.

Elery’s Fire Bolt sails harmlessly between both militiamen and ignites on the ground yards away.

Khinsra’s legs connect and one of the two men are put down on the ground hard.

Lazarus, did you want to make an attack or take a surprise action?

Once lazarus was certain the two militia men did not see him, lazarus got out of cover and slashed at one of them with his great sword.

Movement: Lazarus moves out of his hiding place and into melee range of the militia men. (30ft speed)

Lazarus, you move out and swing at the one of the militia, but your weapon glances off the man’s shield.

(Wait, were you waiting for me, these five days? I'm so sorry... I have no idea how I didn't notice it...)

Although frustrated her first attempt missed, she tries again, to launch a Fire Bolt at one of the guards.

(Oh no! Not at all! It was me. I just posted that this evening.)

The bolt of fire strikes the militiaman in the chest, singeing him. He stagers back but manages to stay up, despite the severe burns on his face.

The burned man lunges forward for revenge on you, Elery. His shortsword bites into your arm (5 damage).

Likewise, the other militiaman swings at you, Lazarus. But his blade bounces harmlessly off your chain mail.

Hey guys, just to let you know, we've got a three new players joining. I'm looking forward to having some new characters.

My plan is to have them with the group that Seva brought as your backup. Then they can join in with you guys to get into the mine.
