Lazarus, Seva turns to you. “I uderstand the need for caution. And I haven’t given you a reason to trust me. But, I assure you, there is no trick here. We need your help. I appreciate you all even coming. And I will definitely leave you in the morning so you can find your own way.”
She lets the silence stretch out, studying the ground as if she could see the future in it. Then, she looks up again. “If you need to meet me for some reason, see old Jasper, at the General Store. Tell him the oaks are beautiful this time of year. He’ll arrange it all after that.” She runs a hand through her hair with a sigh. “Is there anything else you need for tomorrow before we turn in?”
"I believe she's going to expect us to come in from this side, so how about we go to the other side of town and enter there, I also don't think we should stay here. I doubt she's anything less than she says, but if she were to be captured, she may give us up"
You all pack up and separate from Seva. When you leave her in the night, she tells you she understands and wishes you well. When you find your way around to the other side of town, you can see her campfire still twinkling at the top of the hill. It takes you well into the night to skirt the village to the other side.
You make camp east of the town, set watches, and get some rest. The night air is chilly, but crisp. Clouds pass here and there over the moon, casting few shadows and the night clear. The evening passes without issue.
In the morning, you collect yourselves and head for town. The fog of the morning has lifted, but left a dew on the plants and road. The sun rises in a clear sky.
The first thing to great you from the town is the closed gate. Two guards stand atop the wall above. They eye you as you approach.
”Who goes there?” one of them calls down when you reach the gate.
Lazarus: (to the guards) "Hello there, I am Lazarus, former merchant, now adventurer. My friends and I wanted to get into the city, so we could explore, maybe do a little shopping, and see if there were any odd jobs or quests needing to be done. Would you be so kind to open the gate to let us in?"
(let me know if i need to roll persuasion or deception. i know what lazarus said wasn't entirely truthful)

DMing "Gallia Campaign 1".
Looking for a new game, if you need a player private message me.
This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.
Persuasion: 3
Lazarus: (to the guards) "We were hoping to get some basic supplies, maybe some adventuring gear, and anything of interest your town's shops have to offer."
edit: (well XD i guess we're not getting into the town)
Tristan walks up to the guard smiling. "Look, my friends and I have been on the road for a long time and really just want a night or two in civilization. We won't cause any problems. On the contrary, we'll usually quite welcome in towns" He says holding up his dulcimer.
The guard smiles, looking down on you. The look on his face is of the devilish sort. He looks to the other guard. They share a look. “Yes, yes. I’m sure. Tell you what, pay us an entrance fee—say fifty gold—just to show you’re serious about taking care of the town, and we’ll let you through. How does that sound?”

"Let me go in front... I don't think I'll be able to completely end with that fee... But I might be able to help..." Elery responds to Lazarus, and casts Guidance on herself.
She clears her throat and stands up to the guards.
"Look, it doesn't need to go this way, maybe we can prove we're worthy of going in? Do any of you guards need anything? I just think asking that much of money out of us as coming off as rude, but maybe we could help in other manners, if you think we seem suspicious..."
(I can see plenty of reasons to ignore this roll (because someone else already tried and failed), and if the DM thinks it's the most reasonable thing to do, then by all means. I just thought I'd give my own attempt in this negotiation thing, seeing as I have the highest Persuasion modifier of the whole party.)
Both guards stop and think. They share yet another glance. “Look,” says the one who’s been doink the talking. “We’re both respectable men. We have orders to keep out any troublemakers. So, we do the best we can. You seem like reasonable folk. Tell you what. We won’t charge a thing if you take care of a problem for us. I heard there’s a ruckus down at The Old Hag. Some loudmouth stirring trouble. Go down and sort it out and we’ll know you’re the sort we want. Keen?”
"Oh, of course, that's exactly what I wanted. As adventurers, quests like these are just part of our job, and I'm sure it wouldn't hurt to take a look and help however we may." She nods and smiles, and walks back to the party.
"So, wasn't that great? Now we can enter the town."
(No I said it to the full party, Seva included)

Just to make sure I have the plan correct:
The road down in the valley and into town would have you heading east and entering on the west side. You’d like to enter from the east side of town.
And then, you’d also like to separate and make camp somewhere else for the evening, correct?
If so, I’ll move forward to the next bit. I like the cautiousness.
Well, I personally can't tell if that's the right plan or not... I didn't help develop it, we need Lazarus's or Tristan's response on this...
Oh, and I'll also just add, I'm back, so I'll be able to post normally from now on.

The guard who spoke first eyes you. “Uh huh. We’re not much for allowing exploring in this town. What kind of shopping are you looking to do?”
This is where a persuasion might be useful.
