Azrael sighed with mild frustration, as he did not get to mete out any punishment to either the abomination or elsewise. The energy left his form as he cancelled his breath attack. Seeing that everything else was dead, he glanced around. He eventually noticed the book, and if no one else wanted it, he would choose to take it. Regardless of which occored, he would feel not only right, but entirely justified in looting from this place, so he decided to start with the most obvious place - Up the stairs behind where the Mind Flayer had been at the far end of the room.
Floon, while talking, pauses occasionally to wonder what's wrong with Lythril, clearly noticing you're "looking" him over. At times it makes him flattered, and at times he gets a little nervous, it's hard to tell.
Sadly, Azrael looks at the spellbook, but being a sorcerer, it's of no use to him - sorcerer magic comes from within, it's something he was born with - he can't "learn" it like a wizard, or have it granted from a god like a Cleric, or a patron like a Warlock, etc.
Also, mind flayer, not beholder.
I'll wait till the evening to see what you guys want to do.
- Either return back to the Yawning Portal, where Raenar is waiting for news about the return of Floon from FC. - The authorities may want to know what's going on down here, and that would mean talking to the City Watch. - You might want to further explore the hideout if you wish?
Azrael heads up the stairs, his gut telling him there had to be something there, and this time it wouldn't be an ooze in a urinal. He inspected every inch of that far-ends upstairs collecting whatever he found.
((((YEAH YEAH YEAH, IN MY CAMPAIGN WE DEALT WITH BEHOLDERS FOR LIKE A WEEK FORGIVE ME XD!)))
((I also vote we loot the place. we fought hard to get here, why leave just yet? who knows what might be here! we can always tell the cops later and return to the portal later. But if we leave now, the enemies will respawn and we'll have to fight them again!))
(If it's not too late, could FC jump back in time a few minutes and cast detect magic to see if he can track down the mind flayer or notice anything in the room?)
FC will also dash over to assist Floon. "One hell of a night, eh ya beautiful bastard. Hahah!" He's extremely happy to see him. "Must be time for a drink at the Portal, eh? We'll get going in a bit. May as well make the most of this little adventure." He suggests we scour the rest of the place.
Azrael: This isn't WoW, the monsters won't re-spawn. LOL
FC: You sure can. It appears the Mind Flayer teleported into the room to the East (AREA 11). You're detecting a residual trace of the magic leading you in that direction.
This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.
(Pff don't lie to me DM. I know how this shit works! Insight roll to tell if monsters respawn: 15 But in all honestly, I don't think we can handle a mind flayer, but I'm all for it if everyoen else is.. but lets loot the other rooms first so we atleast die rich!)
Danitirel frowned. "We did well, but I'm not sure how we'd do against the Mind Flayer. We could try ganging up on it, but perhaps we should take our friend topside and let the City Watch know there's an Illithid roaming around in the sewers."
Fat Cat looks around at the members of the party- mainly the most nimble ones who look up for scouting. He points to a wall and says, with his eyes glowing a purple after casting the spell “He’s in there. Maybe we can follow it? See where it goes?”
CHAPTER ONE - A FRIEND IN NEED PART FIVE - THE GUILD HIDEOUT WHAT'S BEHIND DOOR NUMBER 11?
PHERAL: In the middle of this otherwise empty room is a stone pillar carved with a small symbol: a perfect circle with ten equidistant spokes radiating outward from its circumference. In the middle of this circle is a smaller circular indentation that bears a passing resemblance to a lidless eye.
FC: This is where your detect magic is leading you to. It clearly appears to be a teleporter, but a "key" of some sort that is required to activate it is missing.
Astrid timidly follows behind FC, unsure as to what to expect when they met up with the mindflayer. Upon entering the room, though, she brightens a bit, noticing that the evil beastie is not there. So, she proudly steps out from behind FC, and begins to walk around the room, inspecting everything (especially that weird symbol on the stone pillar) (Investigation: 26).
While your investigation skills rival another famous investigator we all know and love and/or hate, there is nothing more in this room other than the statue with the indentation. You do notice, however, that this room branches out to other rooms - and as you peek in those, they are simply sleeping rooms with hay on the floor, and nothing more.
The Mind Flayer must of had a stone that activated the statue, and it teleported away.
Looks like we are done for now FC. But this symbol doesn't sit right with me. Its not the first time we have seen in in the past 24 hours. Pheral ponders, but investigation style thinking ins't her expertise.
