Ironwall: I hear them vote their minds but I am unconvinced the eight of us can evade their eyes. After a long moment of silence, I finally speak. "Make every advantage. That is the human saying I was taught when they trained us about tactics. We should start a fire. Or roll barrels of ale into their midst. Or dangle a target in front of them to draw some of them off. Make them look away, just for a moment. Then sneak, if that is your plan."
I catch myself grinning wickedly. "Maybe," I say slowly, "we do all three. We load up a cart with barrels of ale, set it alight, and I drive it into the kobolds."
I scan these strangers that I have now fought beside twice but nobody is visibly buying into my scheme.
"I can leap off the cart before it gets to them. If they chase me, I draw them away. If not, they contend with an out of control flaming cart of liquor."
I was sure this idea was better than the one I had about digging a moat around Gilborg.
Bartimaeus: Within the pile of ogre guts and entrails you find.... A filthy old morningstar in useable albeit smelly condition. And... 17 Copper pieces... It seems as though there is not much else worth value about the corpse, but then, you notice something strange clutched in its' hand, something small and furry, no, hairy... ....It is a bloody clump of hair and scalp! Dark skin tone, blueish grey, and white hair. Similar to that of an old friend and current bounty....
There is a bit of a treeline along the Western road out of town, which could potentially provide the best cover while heading for the fissure. There is roughly a 15 to 1 ratio of Kobolds to party members. And counting. It is dark, but all the enemies likely can see in this. There are some carts or wagons in town that could be used in a distraction plan. There are also more undead spotted roaming nearby and forcing you to decide quickly.
Stealth along the road slowly and hope to avoid the kobold/shadow dragon host?
Distract them and potentially start a very tough fight?
Deal with more zombies?
There are always other options. We are in Faerun, near the Sword Coast, where there are many knowledgeable sources on all manner of things. Sages. Mercenaries. Equipment specialists. Other cities. None of you can tell how far this Shadowfell aura has spread, but perhaps it is leaking into the rest of Faerun.. Anybody with a decent survival or history or other applicable skill could gather a bit more about the surrounding area and what cities or other places of interest may be near. Emeny is a local I believe.
Rotleaf speaks up at this point in planning: I track Kobolds with a vengeance. I relish slaughtering them almost more than anything other than goblins. Kobolds are scum. That there is an evil bunch of scaly lil' scumbags and I aim to take out as many of them as I can. If you all need a distraction, I may be the answer you're looking for. I'd be happy to aid in taking out as many of those things as possible and providing a safer route to the rest of ye'.
"I can help with the plan of distracting the kobolds with Thaumaturgy. Since this is your plan Ironwall, I'll leave to you what effects I should use as we sneak away."
This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.
Vappa instinctively steps back a few feet at Emeny's display. Had any of these people figured that perhaps these Kobolds - or the Dragon - could sense magic? Vappa leaps into nearby brush ahead of the group whilst attempting to watch for enemy's inbound.
Stealth: 11
Perception: 8
OOC: Just checked everybody's passive perception, everyone but Ironwall saw me leave :)
"Well, if you want them to look away, put your distraction on the opposite side of them from those trees," I say, pointing. "Make it loud or bright. We move in a line and I will take the lead position."
OOC: You've only got 30 feet, so you might have to cast it and catch up, depending on how far it is.
"Well, now is the time to go, then. Those spells aren't permanent. Red man, cast your spell over by that haystack. Any enemies will be able to see these illusions from there. Don't get any closer than you need to, then catch up to us. We will wait for you at the tree line for one minute, then we sneak along the tree line until we get behind the dragon and the fissure. Good luck."
I begin to jog down to the trees where I had pointed. "This will work or it won't," I mutter.
Barxik creates the effects of the sound of falling coins with a slight tremor as it hits the each other, and the shining, shimmering sparkle of newly minted gold coins.

Nox frowned as she thought about their plans. "I don't know how many of those things we could take in a fight. Stealth is our best option."
"Bartimaeus too favors stealth" and I will do a perception check to see what would be the best route to avoiding the dragon and its horde 17

"I wonder if the mage has a trick up his sleeve?"
You can roll or take the standard bump, your call.
"Not all those who wander are lost."

The ogre is most definitely deceased, and no longer under necromantic power. The sacred flame cleansed it.

I motion with my staff and a 5 cubic feet of gold and jewels materializes on the ground.
"Would this serve as a distraction? Or perhaps the roar of another dragon?"
Minor Illusion - DC 13 to determine that it is a fake, and contact with the object reveals that it is not physically present.

Nox/“Renna”:
”If it’s a distraction we need I can help with that as well,” Nox said to the group, before casting Minor Illusion and adding to the pile of gold.
(Its a DC 14 check for me)

I move into position as planned and ready an action to form an illusory treasure hoard when Ironwall signals.
OoC: I don't have a good enough sense of what the battlefield looks like to say exactly where my character is, only that she's where she needs to be.
OOC: Yeah, I'm just keeping it vague enough and hoping it works. Distraction over here, we sneak over there. *shrug*

Nox followed Emeny and prepared to help with the illusion.
OoC: So, I take it the illusion is set up and were ready to attack?
