Aerys chuckles, "That's very true. Same thing can be said for everyone in our 'group'. But we all worked well as a team during the sweeping of the brooms."
Orynn avoids the chalked circle and begins going through the dresser, pulling out drawers and checking for anything adhered behind drawers or inside the dresser. If he finds nothing, he'll look behind the dresser and mirror. If still nothing, he'll search the wardrobe the same way. Then, the storage chest. Then, the under side of the bed and behind the headboard (if there is one).
"Wasn't a mice trainer or something like that in the troupe? " the tiefling says to Orynn poiting at the cheese in the bed. He then kneels and look under the bed and helps Orynn in his search around the room.
Jun thanks Bonnie for showing him the room, then asks,
"Would it be possible to get a better view of the show from upstairs? Just in case things get more crowded down here as the final act approaches?"

OOC: Yes, with the door closed it is too dark for anybody without darkvision to see unaided. (The hallway is lit.) For those with darkvision, remember that it will not allow you to see perfectly, but it will let you see as if the room was dimly lit. We are going to take your search steps one at a time, but there is no need for any roll yet.
Before he can even begin searching in earnest, out in the open, on top of the dresser, Orynn sees a scroll. It is rolled up, but not fastened shut.
People in the main room:
Leilani walks over to an unoccupied table closer to the stage. She looks back at you with a smirk, gives you a small salute with her glass, then goes back to watching the stage.
Jun:
"Of course there is," says Bonnie. "Up the stairs -- see the balcony flanking the pit? People go there all the time to watch adventurers lowered down the hole. There are some tables up there too, but no service. But if all you want to do is watch the Portal, and the half of the room where the stage is, you can stand there. It's not going to be a great view of the show, and you'll be bothered by people coming up and down the stairs, but to each their own."
A few minutes after Leilani takes her new seat, Cassie takes a deep breath and stands. She then slowly makes her way over to Leilani's new table, looking ever more nervous the closer she gets.
"Excuse me," she says quietly when she gets there, without taking a seat, "do you mind company if it's just me?"
Her face looks contrite but also a bit tense, as though she's not used to talking to people one on one like this.
OOC: Ah, yes, sorry about that, Dekket. For some reason, I was remember dragonborn instead of tiefling.
Orynn points out the circle and candles. "I remember seeing small cages," he responds. "And here's something that might indicate that whole communes with devils business. I've never been much into religion. Do you recognize this ... whatever it is?" When the scroll catches Orynn's eye, he crosses to the dresser and lifts it up, unrolling it.
Cassie takes a seat next to Leilani and remains quiet for little while. Before too long however, the awkward silence becomes too much for her, and she speaks up again though she doesn't turn to look at Leilani.
"I...I wanted to apologize. I can't seem to remember anything about you despite how much you seem to know about me, but that's no excuse for how rude I was to you earlier."
She pauses for a moment, still not looking at the woman.
"I've spent the last six years of me life at sea, and most of that aboard one ship with one crew. And now, because of..." she pauses with a glance at her hands, which briefly clench into fists, "...things...I've had to leave that life behind me, without having any sort of other life to pick up in its place. Cast adrift ashore, I guess ye could say. It's all so...well, I guess you could say I haven't been me best self lately because of it..."
She finally turns to look at Leilani, her hands folded tightly in her lap.
"Can...can we maybe start over again? I know I've been a bit...abrasive...but the last thing I want right now is to make new enemies. I'd much rather have an old friend back, if we ever were close to such..."
"You made it to the sea...I always knew you would," says Leilani, strangely flatly. "I stayed behind, until they said I was too old, and they kicked me out. I spent 'me' last few years on these same streets, doing whatever I could to survive, dodging people like Grady when I can, controlling them when I cannot. I cannot start over, because I've never been able to leave my past behind, like you." She takes a moment to temper the rising bitterness in her voice. "But I forget myself...you helped me just now. So, tell me, what cast you adrift, back on these streets?"
OOC: Ah, yes, sorry about that, Dekket. For some reason, I was remember dragonborn instead of tiefling.
Orynn points out the circle and candles. "I remember seeing small cages," he responds. "And here's something that might indicate that whole communes with devils business. Does Dekket recognizes it?
Arcana? / Religion? Same roll for anyone of them as he has the same modifier: 20
Cassie looks away, off in the direction where she knows the city docks to be even though she can't see them.
After a moment, she looks at her hands. She clenches her right fist tightly for a few seconds, a look of intense concentration on her face. Then, with a quick snap of her fingers, a small burst of flame appears before immediately going out.
"Fire magic doesn't mix very well with wooden hulls and canvas sails..." she says slowly, a sharp edge of frustration tingeing her voice. "Came down ill mid-voyage, burnin' up with fever for three nights. Woke up in the middle of the fourth night with flames shootin' from me hands." Her voice has turned notably somber at this point, though it still retains that angry edge.
"Lot o' the crew didn' like that. Cap'n was able to keep 'em from throwin' me overboard right then, but even after all we been through he could nah risk keepin' me aboard once we made port. Not'nless I can get better control."
Leilani shifts slightly further away from you. "Do you...think that fire mixes with the wood and alcohol in a tavern?"
Dekket/Orynn:
It may be mystical in nature, but even if so, whether divine or arcane in nature you have no idea. There are some faint scratchings in the margins that appear separate from the body of the scroll, but you cannot make out anything of it in the near blackness of the room.
Arvel casually leans against the corner of the hallway, keeping his eyes on both the door to the room in question as well as the passage leading up from the floor below. He is relaxed but ready to head off any interlopers.
He has a conversation in his head while he waits.
Well, here I am Lady. Being an adventurer. This is what adventurers do, right? Feats of derring-do one moment, clashing with criminals the next, and then hunting secrets and intrigue for dessert!
"Become an adventurer" you said. Not so bad so far. At least I didn't have to jump down that hole. But if you ever feel like explaining exactly what you'd like me to be doing, now would be a great time to start. These "companions" of mine seem like decent folk.
I'd 'ate to 'ave to keep lying to zem, Lady.
Eh, you know what? You said "grow your power as a charmer". Charmer. Not liar. If this gig goes on longer than tonight, I'll come clean with them. If I let it go on any longer, I'd be hurting people who I'd need to be my friends.
Jun thanks Bonnie once more for the directions and makes his way back to the main room and the groups table. He is surprised to see Cassie absent, but lets show a small smirk when he spots her seated with Leilani. Arriving back at the table, he says to Rue,
"Durnan is giving us cots for the night free of charge in return for our actions during the carriage incident. Nothing fancy, but it beats sleeping on the streets."
While standing, he picks up a half finished mug of ale and downs it in one go, then looks back at the others.
"Ready to head up and check on the others?"

Orynn squints at the scroll, holding the parchment inches from his eyes. Finally, he slams it down on the dresser. "Fenfinshish!" he swears. He lights one of his torches and picks the scroll up again.
Slamming the scroll down on the dresser has little effect, other than the impact bringing a brief surge of satisfaction. The torch light reveals the whole of the scroll. You cannot read the script that makes up the bulk of the writing, but scribbled off in the margin, in Common, is a recently-scrawled note:
Bravado? The Bard's Story?
As you lean closer, the torchlight catches the mirror.A gnome’s face appears in the mirror. Anxiously, he whispers a message:
“Dalakhar, if you’re listening to this it means we’ve been separated from the stone, and that means you’ve forgotten all about it! Go to the cellar now, I’ve left written instructions in the usual place!”

Cassie raises an eyebrow at Aerys.
"Given I've known ye for less than a day, I could almost say the same 'bout you, ye know..."
Aerys chuckles, "That's very true. Same thing can be said for everyone in our 'group'. But we all worked well as a team during the sweeping of the brooms."

I'm guessing it's too dark for Dekket to see?
