( I did think she was younger. My mistake if you had said that earlier. Wruce is older let say late 40s. That was an initiative roll by the way I don't want to get the modified roll text so I'll just leave it. I feel Wruce would act the same way knowing, Yuno was 23. )

Just as she was about to thank him, Alexandria watched Wruce move away from her to defend Yuno, having to peer over to the side to see what exactly they were all so fixated on. With furrowed brows she moved forward to stand right next to both of them.
"Let's see whose hiding." She sneers and not a second later did she extend her arm, three of the orbs of light (keeping one over Wruce's head now as he was taller than her) suddenly moving from their place to pass the door way and illuminate what creature was inside (damn human eyes).

As your light spans the hall, the sconces above flare to life, revealing an imposing Sphinx! It stands atop a wide pedestal, unmoving but watching intently. Behind it, three small passages extend from the circular chamber it occupies, each brightening as the magic that lit the sconces spreads. As the dungeon comes to life, you are welcomed by a booming, cackling voice.
"Ha! Ha! Ha! Foooolish adventurers! You have entered the lair of Keraptis the Mad, and there is NO ESCAPE! At the end of each of these three passages lies a deadly trial that only the greatest of heroes can pass to claim the the weapons that I, KERAPTIS, the shape-shifting wizard of the wastes, stole! If you want to return my little trinkets to your silly old king, go ahead! I don't care. In fact, I wish you luck! And you'll need it, because now that you've broken the seal you about three hours this whole volcano explodes! That is assuming you can even get past my little pet here. I'll warn you, your swords and spells will be of no use against her ancient magic. Ha! Ha! Ha!"

Dennis looked at the sphinx, and then back at the party. "Does anyone know anything about... that?" He pointed at the sphinx with one hand, rapidly leafing through his spellbook with the other. Finding the page he wanted, he stepped towards the sphinx. "Hi. Can we pass? I don't want to fight you personally, and you can just leave now that the door's open." Dennis pointed back at the way they came.

"Haha! Incredible! Never once in my life, had I thought I would encounter sphinx! This experience is getting more and more tantalizing by the minute! A shame we cannot tarry..."
"Seriously?" Alexandria groaned just after Yuno answered the riddle, dropping her arm for it to land back at her side. She let's out an audible sigh and brings her arms crossed back in front of her chest, muttering something under her breath before she gives a quick apology to everyone else in the room. Stop being so childish. She could still hear her mother's chiding, no matter where she ran off to.

Dennis inhaled sharply as Yuno answered. That was also my first guess, so I hope she's right. Otherwise, I have no idea what's going to happen. His grip tightened on his open spellbook, crinkling the pages a little.
Wruce waits until he is confident the immediate danger of an outright attack has passed, adjusts his posture and stands upright. He pulls the cape down from over each shoulder so it now completely covers his body.
Agreeing with Yuno he says nothing, turns his head to the Sphinx and awaits its response.
Rowan nods in approval upon hearing Yuno's answer. "Very good my friend." he says softly. He looks at the group, "It appears that we will be pressed for time. There are three paths ahead of us. The one who claims to be Keraptis says that there is a trial at the end of each path. Three weapons, three paths, three trials. I believe that one weapon lies at the end of each trial. Which to choose first however?"
“Could be dangerous if we split up, but more efficient...” She says. “I’m fine with whatever you guys decide. I’d prefer to be with someone who can defend me though, not exactly built to take hits, ya know?”

"A phrase regarding counting and chickens comes to mind first. Yuno's guess at the riddle is a strong candidate, but it is up to the sphinx to say whether or not it is correct, yes?"
"Splitting into two groups... and regrouping to tackle the third..." Dennis muttered absent-mindedly to himself. In an instant, his eyes glazed over as his mind went deep into thought. "If we build the groups on... Karnys and I should split up... Yuno and Wruce with me... Cleese and Mathers should split... Raven with Karnys? Or Rowan with Karnys? Either one works..." Realizing that the sphinx still hadn't responded to their answer, Dennis returned to the present time and place. "Sphinx first. Focus on the task at hand before moving on to the next."

Instead of replying, the Sphinx says this:
"Round she is, yet flat as a board
Altar of the lupine lords
Jewel on black velvet, pearl in the sea
Unchanged but e'erchanging eternally"
It seems you won't be getting past this one that easily...
Yuno breaks her gaze and scratches her head at the Sphinx's riddle. "How many attempts do we get to answer correctly?" Yuno asks the Sphinx.
"One."
You look at it in horror.
"Each."
That's slightly better, but 11 is still a small number.
"In that case..." Yuno speaks again, "I think the answer is 'The Moon' or more specifically, 'A Full Moon'."
"Seriously?" Alexandria groaned just after Yuno answered the riddle, dropping her arm for it to land back at her side. Are we staying together? We could do 2 at once and join on the third?
