"Names Garth," he said between grunts, continuing to work on destroying the bottom steps.
"While I consider myself an adventurous lad, I generally try to stay away from the undead. Not really into spending time with folks who just want to eat my face. What is it that you fancy yourself? A temple guard?" Garth asked Rad as they continued to work.
"Don't see many people walking around with names etched onto their weapons. I prefer to just call all of my swords Stabby and forgo the etching. Helps me stay grounded, and remember why I'm in the fight to begin with." The left side of Garth's mouth curved up in a smirk as he finished talking.
Did he not hear when we first explained that we had been sent? Perhaps he was so surprised to see something living... Twig thought, bemused, eyebrow cocked. Twig introduced herself for a second time, “I am called Twig”
"No, not a temple guard. I do work with the church though. I'm a cleric, and I was sent by my church to find the source of the Blight and put an end to it." He smiles "They knew I was the only person they could trust to carry out this mission without failure."
Twig cocks her head, and looks at Rad. “Why would they only send one to cure the Blight? Is that how you got involved with him?” she nods to the unkempt Prozhar, now speaking to both him and Rad. “Trying to cure the Blight together? If you think you know how to cure it, what do you think is causing it? Is that why they sent you, because you know something? Why are there so many undead? Is that how you control them?” She points at the glowing orb “Or is that what you were going to use to cure the Blight? What is it? How does it work? Can I touch it?” At this point, Twigs eyes are riveted to the orb, and she is gradually inching towards the object of her attention.
Prozhar sniffed again at Twig's questions. "Fool. This isn't some bauble to strike your fancy for a few moments before being cast away like some ball of yarn. This is the most powerful artifact you will ever see. But never mind that, mind the entrance and make sure we survive." The necromancer drew his brows together in increased concentration.

As the step Garth was working on comes loose and falls into the water of the first floor, Garth comes to a stop and looks at their handy work and the gaping hole where five steps previously lead to the third floor. "I think this should be sufficient to keep them out when that dome comes down." He slaps Rad on the shoulder, "Let's head back up to the others."
"Twig does bring up an important question - what do you think is causing the Blight? And did the undead fetch the items that you needed to succeed in your task before you lost control? You seem convinced enough on the source with the amount of work you've put into the endeavor." Garth says, coming up the remaining stairs.
"I must not have stressed enough that this is extremely difficult. Bother someone else. Or be silent. I like silence." the necromancer responds, clearly aggravated.

Rad follows him back up the wrecked staircase. "It's cuz I'm reliable, that's why they sent me. And I'm not going to say no to help, I just expect any backup from the church."
You all chat for a bit more, but the tension eventually causes you all to fall silent. After a time, the mood in the room changes.
Prozhar sighed and flexed his fingers, “Finally. You four, I will require two minutes to complete the ritual. The barrier will be deactivated. Do not allow them near me or all is lost.” With that said, and without any further warning, Prozhar picked up the orb and held it against his head before sprinkling some powders onto it from a pouch at his waist. He continued these actions, but you stopped paying attention to him as soon as you heard the sounds.
Scratches, moans, pounding, and the sounds of flesh slapping flesh assault your ears as you hear the undead scrambling to get to you from below. It was only in that moment that you realized there had been no sound from outside before.
After thirty seconds or so, the zombies are on the floor below you. They are not able to reach the stairs from their position, but they begin climbing over each other to reach you, driven by some unknown force.

Cor peaks down the stairs to see what's going on down there.
"Idon'twishto sound like a coward but I am pretty sure I don't want to get close to any of those things. Garth, you seem strong. You should definitely stand in front of me." Cor says as he grips his crossbow tighter.
Twig eyes Cor, unimpressed. “While I hate to agree with him, he might have a point. Perhaps those in armor should stand in front,” Twig nodded towards Garth and Rad. “Pointy-Ears and I can stand back, because I think we have a longer range,” Twig indicates her shortbow, nocking an arrow and double checking her rapier and daggers, extending and retracting her claws, readying herself for the upcoming zombie attack.
Garth heads over to stand a few steps down from the top of the stairs, holding his sword out in front.
"This may sound opportunistic, but if any of you have any long-range weapons you want to use to gain experience, now may be a good time since we're relatively safe up here. Cor, judging by how accurate you are with your magic, I would avoid using that since we don't want the building to burn down around us. Aim at the zombies that are back a few paces from the front, that way if you miss you probably still hit another one." He said with a grim expression in his face. At least this time I'm not fodder in someone else's war.
"Also, someone go keep on eye on the other entrance. I hate gettin jumped." The familiar rush of adrenaline began to course through his body, his muscles beginning to tense.

After another thirty seconds, the first zombie makes it to the stairs and is immediately followed by another. The horde makes it on the stairs, two-abreast, heading straight up the stairs to the group. They are 10 feet from the top of the stairs.

Twig positions herself next to the stair railing to alternately look at the oncoming zombies and keep an eye on the window. “I’m watching the window, I’ll let you know if I see any movement” Twig takes aim and releases an arrow into the oncoming zombies.
Twig positioned herself perfectly and drew her shortbow. She lined up perfectly to take the first zombie right through the eye but as soon as she pulled the arrow back, her bowstring snapped. She hadn't taken enough time to restring her bow after the previous fight with the thugs and paid the price. She now stood there, looking down at her bow with two strings hanging from the ends in disbelief.

"Only person huh? Would you prefer if we left you to fight these things alone?" Cor says to the cleric. I honestly might just let this guy do it too.

Twig looks around the room and can't see any other doors. She does see a glassless window that looked like it had a pretty wide sill, however.

"If you're out, I have a crossbow and some bolts in my pack."
