"Hello good Blacksmith, you guessed correctly, we're adventures on quest, and we're in search of some better armor. Do you by chance have some splint mail in my size?" Garth asked, looking around the interior for anything of interest.
"I'd like to stop by the Blacksmith and see if he can either upgrade my current armor, or has anything new I can try on. Prozhar keeps giving me the vibe that we're destined to fail, and I'd really prefer not to live up to his expectations. It may be a good idea for each of you to have some decent leather armor, but I'll leave that up to you." Garth said, looking around the square.
"I think I havea few extra coins to help each of you upgrade your gear."
Garth attempted to whistle tunes to pass the time as they traveled. To Garth his whistling was a near approximation to his favorite traveling minstrels, unfortunately this tended to scare local wildlife and the few travellers they encountered on the road.
Garth sold the small gems and the larger gem at the first town they came through. While they traveled, He spoke to other travelers and people in the towns they passed through, trying to get more information on what may be waiting for them at the Dungeon of Gluntak.
"Let's stop at the first town we come across and sell some of the items we've picked up. If nothing else it will make our packs easier to carry while we head north. Onward to victory!" Garth said, leading the group out of the house.
"We must have done something to break the spell when we were upstairs in the attic. I think we heard crashing noises down here around the time that Rhett up and disappeared." Garth shrugged and stepped back into the dining hall.
"We already searched over this house, though it's possible we missed something. Do you want to remain here any longer, or should we continue the journey to the Underdark?" Garth asks Jack and Twig.
"Alright, well it seems you took care of the threat in here. I remember that there was a staff in here when we peaked in a few hours ago. Did you already grab that?" Garth said as he steps into the room. Garth searches through the room for anything interesting.
Garth leads the group to the Dining Hall, and opens the door to the side room to show Jack the room.
"If I remember right, I think there was a halfling somewhere in here with a staff. Looked magical, maybe it can help you out." Garth said from the doorway, examining the room once more.
"I agree, let's at least hold onto the wand for a bit longer until we have a good idea on who we're dealing with. I say we give him the beginner's magic book, and if he has a knack and it's beneficial to our quest, we can give him more of the books that we found. I'll go grab two more books before heading down." Garth said to Twig. He quickly went back up to the attic and grabbed two additional books, making sure that they were books Twig had earlier said were on magic.
Coming back down the steps, Garth made sure to wait until Twig was done before speaking to Jack. "We've pretty much explored the entire house, except for a room down here that seems to have some kind of enchantment that seems to have turned everything in it to stone. As a show of goodwill, if you join us in our quest we will give you this beginner's magic book that we found while exploring the house. I think it teaches transmutilation or some such." He said, pulling the book from his pack to show Jack.
"Calm down, just curious on what you were looking for." Garth said placatingly.
"I think I would like to talk to Twig in private for just a moment. Please excuse us while we head upstairs for a moment." Garth motions for Twig to follow him as he starts up the stairs.
(Assuming Twig follows Garth)
For Twig
"We were talking earlier today about how nice it would be to have a magic user with us on our quest. You saw him turn from a bear into a halfling, and he said he's trying to cure the Blight too. Our situation is more precarious since Randy up and left earlier. I think we should see if he wants to join us, and we can share those books we found. What do you think?" Garth said quietly to Twig.
"Yeah, this house is full of weird stuff. Let's just say Twig wasn't always blue, and I briefly experienced what it's like to be blind. What exactly are you looking for here?" Garth said, appraising the halfling now standing in front of them.

"Say, where are you from, and how did you hear about the wizard who lived there?" Garth asked Jack.
"I didn't think to ask in that super creepy house and trying not to die."

"Prove you can handle that, and there may be more down the road." Garth said to Jack, his mouth quirking up into a smile at the end.

Garth quickly looks from side to side to see if he can determine where the bear came from. He remains in place, Ready with his sword.
"I wouldn't recommend covering yourself in honey and laying on the ground." He quietly said to Twig, being careful not to startle the bear.

"Everything seems okay up here, let's see if the source of the noise is downstairs." Garth said to Twig as he headed for the main staircase.
