There is a brief flash from Lukian's palms as he says a quick phrase in Elvish. He then replies to the giant, his voice sounding more honeyed than usual. "My friend speaks the truth. I'm sorry we cannot relinquish our transportation, but perhaps there is something else we can do for you in exchange for information."
Action: Enhance ability (eagle's splendor) on self
Vark still looked eager to cut down a giant, but held back on striking again for the time being. However, he had less restraint on his tongue now that the blood thumping in full power. "No Pig, or get cut. W'ere o'ers of ya?" He called up behind the giant, keeping a close eye out on any sign of aggression. The only time focuses lax is to spare a glance in D.O.R.K's direction.
D.O.R.K just nods slowly in approval to Vark, and then held a hand up with only three fingers raised up, signaling Beedo to hold his next shot. For now. Beyond that, the living construct quietly waited to see the giant's reaction, and those of the interactions with others. Though if Torunn ever looked up in her direction, she would motion him and Devin back so that whoever had some spiritual guardians wouldn't further aggravate the giant. Yet.

“Hurts from cuts and scratches go away but hurt from empty tummy never go away. If Hungryfella not have long nosed pig - what you do to make hurt from empty tummy go away?” The giant responds.
Devin grins. In his hand he produces a couple of Goodberries, those the party had not eaten that day for food. He hands one to the giant. "Eat that, it will provide you enough to fill your tummy for today."
((Devin's Spirit Guardians would have been lost when he failed his CON roll.))
The giant looks at the Goodberries suspiciously then grabs them (three I am guessing) and throws them down his throat. He waits a bit and then roars and waves his club threateningly "you promise Hungryfella that hurts go away and empty feelin' in tummy go away if he eat berry. Well hurts still here and empty feelin' in tummy still here! What you do about that? Maybe Hungryfella just take long nosed pig?"
(OOC: as far as I can work out Goodberries provide nourishment but do not satisfy hunger cravings)
Devin looks around at the others and said in common "I kinda hoped that might have worked." Then in giant he speaks to the hill giant again. "Give us till tomorrow morning and we can give you enough food to fill your belly."
This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.
OOC: Interesting. So, goodberry gives you your nutritional needs of the day, but doesn't actually fill your stomach? So, someone surviving on goodberries would still be hungry? I can see that. Never thought of it that way, though. Should that give you disadvantage on stealth rolls? "Why is your stomach growling?" "I only ate a goodberry today."
Lukian looks at Devin, then turns to address the giant again. "Or we could hunt with you tonight." He motions to his traveling companions. "Do you know where is a good hunting ground around here? Working together, we should be able to fell enough game to feed us all without having to sacrifice our means of travel." The elf smiles. "I would love to share a campfire with you. We have many questions."

The giant looks a bit confused at Lukian's suggestion and looking around at the dead bodies says "all hunters dead - how we hunt?" Then you can almost see the lightbulb go off "Hungyfella know of good hunting. It is village of small people at bottom of hills. We go now?"
"No! You can't hunt there anymore. You need to find a new hunting ground. You can't eat the little people anymore. Where did you hunt before the little people?" Devin asks.
"But you hunted the village before we killed the bugbears. We were sent to stop you from hunting them. You need to leave the village alone." Devin responds

Ebonitus uses the Helm of Telepathy to Detect Thoughts (Save WIS DC13) on Hungryfella, to see if he can understand what the giant is thinking about.
Hungryfella save = 17. The giant's thoughts as he looks at the dead members of his party are so confused that Ebonitus cannot discern anything useful other than the "wicked sisters will be cross with him!"
In the next round, Ebonitus tries again and uses the Helm of Telepathy to Detect Thoughts (Save WIS DC13) on Hungryfella, to see if he can understand what the giant is thinking about.

Ebonitus de Viribus - Level 4 Cleric - The Storm King's Thunder - The Gods Respond.
Although Ebonitus is unable to discern the deeper thoughts of Hungryfella if he even has them he is able to pick up surface thoughts such as "whether these strangers are skilled enough to help him get enough food for the Wicked Sisters", "always hungry", "never has enough food to eat" etc.
"Hey Lukian," calls out Ebonitus, "It might be useful to find out how many we need to feed, is it just the big fella? Perhaps we can purchase/commandeer some sheep from the shepherds if there is no game about."
