Not halting his movement toward the guards, but grabbing Dawnbringer and looking over his shoulder, Lukian telepathically says to Dawnbringer, "Tell Mambo he's doing great and to keep following, no matter how fast I move. But if something starts to attack him, he should do whatever he needs to do to protect himself."
As Devin and Co continue walking towards the guards, the guards continue to watch the fire creature with apprehension but seem to realise that it is under some sort of control and who knows it may be an ally of the Fire giants. When the three reach a distance about of about 30 feet from the guards D.O.R.K. and Ebonitus come into view about 100' behind them. The leader of the guards yells out "THERE IT IS LADS THE CREATURE THAT KILLED OUR MATES - OPEN FIRE".
Suddenly Devin and Co hear the twang of heavy crossbows being released and there is a whoosh, whoosh, whoosh, whoosh whoosh as five bolts speed past them towards D.O.R.K. (Attack: 16 Damage: 2, Attack: 9 Damage: 4, Attack: 1 Damage: 8, Attack: 0 Damage: 2, Attack: 4 Damage: 9) but not a single bolt hits the metal construct.

"The mistress is not pleased. You had a chance to resolve this peacefully, but now that chance has passed," Ilezenya calls out as he advances 30 feet towards the center of the gaggle of guards. He then speaks a prayer for protection. Suddenly, the air all around the Dusk Warden is filled with spectral fey creatures that swarm and attack the guards! (casting Spirit Guardians, with party members unaffected. All guards within 15' make a DC15 Wis save or take 11 radiant damage - half if they make the save. Guards' speed is halved in the area...)
"Their accuracy could use some degree of improvement.,"D.O.R.K stopped to note aloud. "Do you wish for me to return fire? Or shall I continue forward for the time being? As it seems that some of our fellows have decided to begin the assault, as you had anticipated, I believe." She asked, and would raise a hand to begin the request of calling down a javelin of faith. Her target? Whichever rider happened to be closer at the time.

Lukian continues forward another 30 feet toward the horses, then, in Elvish, calls in a loud voice while holding forth his shield, "My father, I call upon the radiance of the dawn to wipe out your servant's enemies." The symbol of Lathander appears like a brand on the face of the shield and immediately shines like the sun. The light flows out from Lukian like a wave, simply warming his comrades, but burning all the guards.

Ebonitus communes to D.o.R.K. "Yes, the time has come to return fire." and so saying Ebonitus advances to the necessary range and casts Guiding Bolt on the horseman that appears to be their leader.
Attack: 17 Damage: 12 radiant damage and on a successful hit, the next attack on the horseman has advantage.

And the carnage continues
First things first ignore the cheat banner in my previuos post I was trying to amend the attack on the horses and failed badly. No horses were damaged by the spells and all the guards - well those that are alive are all still mounted Salazar lies slumped in his saddle.
Now for Devin's blue stars of death (DC16-Wis or take 20 of radiant damage: Mumed (5) Ehput-ki (19) Madislak (6) Ralmevik (8)
Madislak swings his long sword at Devin (Attack: 18 Damage: 4 & Attack: 19 Damage: 7) whilst simultaneously stabbing with his shortsword Attack: 16 Damage: 6)
A bolt of light then - courtesy of Ebonitus - spears into Mumed.
Another bolt of light - courtesy of D.O.R.K. this time then spears into (1=Mumed, 2=Ehput-ki, 3=Madislak, 4=Ralmevik) {4 = Madislak} but as if warned the guard leans low in the saddle and the shot flies over his head.
Mumed's warhorse then flails its hooves at Ilzenya Attack: 16 Damage: 12 Ehput-ki's warhorse then flails its hooves at Lukian Attack: 9 Damage: 12 Both Madislak's horse and Ralmevik's horse flail their hooves at Devin Attack: 20 Damage: 12 & Attack: 12 Damage: 12
Seeing Devin being surrounded by enemies - well two anyway - Mambo charges to his assistance reaching out to touch (1-Madislak, 2-Madislack's horse, 3-Ralmevik, 4-Ralmevik's horse) {4, 3} (Attack: 13 Damage: 8 and (Attack: 12 Damage: 11 .
Ilezenya's Spirit Guardians continue to flit around him and attack the guards, doing another 15 radiant damage on a failed DC15 Wis save. He also points his finger at the furthest guard from him (which should also mean the closest one to the city) and calls out in a deep voice, "Your doom is upon you!" Lukian's shield flares with bright light and the (Attack: 9 Damage: 12) warhorse rears back in surprise missing the Eladrin. Lukian follows up thrusting Dawnbringer at Ehput-ki who is struggling to control his horse and is unable to dodge the flaming rapier; with a groan he slumps in his saddle.
Meanwhile Mumed continues to attack Ilezenya with his longsword (Attack: 14 Damage: 4 & Attack: 10 Damage: 4) before following up with his shortsword (Attack: 23 Damage: 6) He curses as all of his swings are wild.
