"Well, if you can help us return the ax to the frost giant we can start there. Perhaps the statue needs the ax back. If that doesn't work then I have other ideas and I will think on them as rest." Devin replies.
"Okey dokey" Harshnag says as he lifts the steel axe with ease and carries it back to to the 40' tall statue of Thrynn - the god of Frost giant - which is the second statue clockwise from the double doors on the western side (where the party fought the barbarians). Even Harshnag has to reach up to place it place the axe in the kneeling figures hands. As he does so .....................
Without any orders to do otherwise, D.O.R.K had stayed committed in making sure no only the optimal spot by the giant ever burning fire was maintained, but also in clearing out any debris. Such was her plan unless called forth to join the hopeful in the main hall. Occasionally she would pause to tap the side of her head a few times and cause the head lights to flicker. But beyond this, the construct stayed the course until its completion, then stood at attention in waiting for the others.

"Hmm, not unexpected, but one is allowed to hope that something might have happened. So what I think we must do is this; Each of these giants offers a weapon to the All Father. Each of these runes are likely a rune attributed to each of the giant types, one for each Hill, Storm, Fire, Frost." and at saying Frost he indicates with his hand towards Harshnag and then continues, "Stone and Cloud. So I wonder..." and then trails off, lost in thought for a moment. "and I also wonder why I didn't do this before." he says seeming to answer a question only he knew had been asked.
Devin then casts Detect Magic and looks at the runes and the statues.
After extracting a few trinkets from the monstrosity, Mullo sits and cleans them, not watching the others, but still very aware of them all and waiting for a time when her services would be helpful.

Ebonitus investigates the runes and the sconces to see if he can see a pattern or glean a course of action that might see progress. He moves to the first rune and traces it out with his finger. Investigation : 12

Tirohia te Moana - Level 2 Cleric - What shall we do with the Drunken Sailor?
Ebonitus de Viribus - Level 4 Cleric - The Storm King's Thunder - The Gods Respond.
As stated previously the archway is 40' by 40'. This means that the lowest two runes on the left and right hand side are about 20 feet off the ground - with the others above them. Ebonitus realises that he can't reach even the lowest rune without standing on somebody's shoulders so .....?
Mullo notices Ebonitus trying to reach the runes and approaches him. She is over 6-1/2 feet tall and extremely strong (+3). "May I help you?" she asks the dark-skinned cleric.
"I have an idea, but we must be rested before we proceed. If it works we must be at full strength. We know not what lies beyond the portal." Devin says.

When D.O.R.K finally stirs -- her having stood rather than pretend to lay down or sit during her Sentry's 'rest', there are red sparks that softly crackle throughout her being at random intervals as her eyes flit between their neutral yellows and combative red. Her hands are trembling as she started to lift them to the sides of her head, muttering incoherently in every tongue she knew and some she had yet to display knowledge of at this point.
Then... it all abruptly came to a stop. No more sparking. No more trembling. Her eyes reverted back to a duller but yellow-ish glow. She just stood for a moment staring at the ground, before then abruptly straightening up and walking off towards the bonfire. And short of anyone physically stepping up to intercede, she either fails to acknowledge anyone else or chooses to ignore them while inspect the flame. She even goes so far as to stick a hand into the flame just to see if it would burn and blacken the paint job. Any pain felt at that point she'd endure quietly, or try to do as much. Her sense of such was more muted and a little alien compared to most more living subjects anyways.
(@Grant: Not sure if you would require a check after the above, but I'll throw in a flat d20 below this in which the appropriate modifier can be added if so. Either way, she's inspecting the bonfire that we initial found in what I presume might've been some kind of Giant feasting hall to see if it is 1) Real, and 2) if there might be anything hidden by the flames)
??? Check: 7.

You're actually no longer in the room with the bonfire - you went back to the temple (see map)
(OOC: still not able to bring in maps via discord so going to trust you. You've not seen/explored the tunnels to the east or the other sections of the complex not directly connected to the main map!)
(@Grant: I could've sworn that's where we discussed setting up at because of said fire and it being presumably cold as balls in most other place. But regardless, unless resealed for some reason, she would head back to that fire regardless to do as mentioned prior.)

Mullo squats again, brandishes her dagger, and begins looking for "teeth and mandibles" as Dork had suggested.

"Well, that was disappointing. Still, we would not have been ready to enter the portal if it HAD opened, so we can think on it while we recover."
Love God. Love Others. Any Questions?

I thought you all agreed to take the axe back to the temple but if you all wanted to go back to the dining hall for the rest fine by me.
