Jaylen; the cloths are old and slightly worn down. They look clean, but you can’t tell whether they have been properly boiled. You recognise the herbs as soon as you get a clear view of the leaves. It is a type of mint that is commonly used to reduce pain and ease breathing. While not very effective as some other herbs, it is readily available.
The man coughs before answering, “Yes, yes... ask away.”
"If you could please describe your symptoms to me, it would be of great help. You are obviously in great pain, can you tell me where it hurts the most? If you have any dizziness or disorientation. Anything you can think of that you have noticed since you fell ill. It would also help to know when the first signs of infection showed up in the village and when you first started to show symptoms yourself. Also has there been any change in diet or other environmental factors shortly before the affliction arrived."
After he is done talking I would like to cast bless targeting the ill man and his son, to give them assistance on the next saving throws they have to resist the disease. Also if it looks like his illness has resulted in any injuries that look they could benefit from cure wounds I would cast that as well (bed sores, lesions, anything that would constitute as hitpoint damage.
“I ...”The man takes a breath to answer, but starts coughing. After a short while his coughing calms down and after a few laboured breaths, he continues. “It’s hard to breathe and my head feels... fuzzy. I get dizzy and disoriented if I do anything. And these blisters,”he pulls on the neck of his shirt a bit, showing more of his neck and upper back. You see the blisters lower down are bigger and look to be filled with something green-ish in colour. “I got them ‘same time as I got sick. But they got worse."He leans back on the bed, closes his eyes and takes a deep breath. When he continues his voice is shaky. “Meily, she... A little girl was missing and I found her in caves. She got really bad the day after and... and she died. I got sick about the same time. There’s others that got sick in the last few days too, but as I hear, they’re not so bad.”
(Jaylen; are you casting Bless, and Cure wounds, as a ritual or using your spell slot?)
"It would seem these people are foing to need some kind of powerful cleric in order to be healed fully." Halhace says as he looks over the man blisters and the like, finding them like something he would hear about from some of the cleric in his tribe when he had been a young whelp.
"It would seem whatever the source of this infection is came from the caves the girl was lost in. She was the first infection vector and it then spread to this man and the others. I wonder if other creatures near the caves have shown signs of infection or if it is limited to only humans. With the tidal flooding hear those caves could pose a danger to the whole region if the caves were to flood and the source of the infection got into the water. From there it could infect fish and crabs and other staple foods, potentially spreading. This is just speculation of course, I have no way of knowing if the caves flood from the tides or if the disease requires an airborne vector or direct contact. It needs investigation, someone will need to check out those caves to be certain or the whole region could suffer. I hope I am wrong. Thank you good sir. May the weave watch over you and infuse you with strength to overcome your illness. Unfortunately I lack the spells required to remove this disease instantly, but the blessing I places upon you and your son will aid your own body's natural ability to fight the infection. That is the best I can do for now. Please rest."
“Look, I’m grateful for your help, but we have no need for ‘spells’ here. That type of meddling is what took our healer from us in the first place.”The man pauses and seems reluctant to continue, “The old man, crazy George, he lives close to the entrance of the caves, under the hill with the light house. But I don’t know. People’ve been to the caves before... Only, our healer was still with us then.”
Dhara; Standing in front of the house you see villagers quickly collecting the sea creatures off the drying ground. They seem to be actively keeping a distance from you, occasionally glancing in your direction and telling children to go play somewhere else. The majority of population is made up of humans; although you see a few that probably have some elf blood in them. You also notice one half-orc walk through the village and to the house where you have spent the night. There does not seem to be anything out of the ordinary happening.
you follow the Half-orc to the house and you see him open the front door and stop, “Hey Navarra. Where’s Kaden at?” “Back in the storage room, making sure those camels don’t eat us out of house and home.”
The half-orc closes the door and makes his way around the house to a small door on a side wall. He enters and closes the door behind himself, but you can still hear the conversation that happens inside; although it is occasionally interrupted by the noise made by the camels.
“Kaden.” “Any news about Aura.” A long silence follows, but you can hear some movement inside. “It’s been a week now. The healer’s trail has run cold. Besides, knowing who took her, it’s probably too late to help her now. Tell Ketha to come home, she won’t listen to me.” “Yeah, you’re right. I’ll write to her.” You hear a loud bang. “Damn! Why couldn’t she just stop using magic..” There is a short silence, and you hear the half-orc say something but you can’t make it out. “Well, at least some healers came through our village. Let’s hope they figure out something about this sickness... do you still have...” The last part of the conversation gets obscured by crashing sounds and the stomping of camels. A moment after it quiets down, you hear steps moving towards the door. You just about manage to get away from the door and take cover under the platform the house is build on, as the half-orc walks out and away from you. You do not see where he went. You can still hear Kaden’s voice coming from inside the house as he hushes the camels.
Everyone else; As you come out of the house Dhara is no longer there. The ground is now clear of the sea creatures, and where there was previously water, only small patches of salt crystals remain. A short moment later the door behind you opens again. The boy is standing, almost hiding behind the door, “Thank you, for trying to help us...” His eyes quickly dart between all of you and he clenches tightly at the door. “I... I’ve been to the caves before.... but we’re not allowed to go deep. Pa says there’s people living deep in the ground and they steal children that wonder inside the caves. Is that really true?”
"I agree Kamos. We should find out where Dhara ran off to, and and plan an excursion to those caves." Turning to the boy "Thank you so much for your help so far. Would you be willing to tell us how to reach those caves?"
Ok after he's gone I'll zip back to the house to meet up with the others
To the others, once I catch up:
"Our host from last night had a visitor that looked rather out of place. I followed him and was able to overhear some of their conversation. Seems we aren't the first people they've asked for help. Someone named Aura, but she was taken. It definitely seems as though there is a slant against magic - we should be careful of our actions. They also mentioned someone named Ketha, related to this somehow.
I don't think there's anything malicious afoot but I also don't think we're getting the whole story here either. We could confront Kaden before we go any further .. in fact I think we should. If we're to help these people I think we have a right to know everything."
Kamos: (to the party) "If these people don't want our help, maybe we shouldn't bother. We don't want to stay in one place for too long anyways, those slavers are likely to come looking for us."
"Well, they do seem to genuinely need help with this sickness and are appreciative of our presence. I just think there's more going on here than they're letting on. I'm on board with going, but we should be careful as always."
The boy seems to relax and looks happy as he answers Jaylen. “One of the entrances to the caves is by the far end of the village. There is a tunnel running under the light house and the entrance is in that tunnel.” Upon hearing Dhara, he shies away behind the door.
After you are done talking between yourselves he tries to speak up again, but does so in almost a whisper. “You... you are the first people to help since our healer, since Aura was taken away.” He looks to his feet and swallows hard. “Aura always knew what to do, but she was taken just before Meily and Pa got sick. If she were here...” He abruptly stops talking as his voice starts to shake.
Halahace stay quiet but seems to be absorbing ehat everyone else is saying. He keeps his staff close and looks as though he is expecting to go bad. "If we are going into these caves then lets go. If not then get the camels and mount up."

Being of little use in the medical department, Dhara would remain outside observing the town and activity outside the house.

I'd like to follow the Half-Orc at a distance back to the house and see if I can overhear any conversation, find out who he is or what he's up to.
Otherwise I'm just waiting for them to come out so we can figure out what to do next.
