The passageway under the lighthouse and the entrance to the caves are above the tide level. You haven’t descended far, so you are probably still above the tide level when you get to the fork in the caves. However, if you choose to go down either of the tunnels that descend further you may to go below the tide line, but you can’t be sure.
"If we want to explore the lower sections we should do it now - we don't want to get caught down there when the tide comes in. Maybe we should stick to this main path and go straight?"
Also I don't know if this is considered Underdark or not but if it is ..

You have a favored terrain type. Your proficiency bonus is doubled for proficient skills when you make an INT or WIS check related to it. While traveling for an hour or more in your chosen terrain, difficult terrain doesn’t slow your group’s travel, your group can’t become lost except by magical means, you remain alert to danger even when you are engaged in another activity, you can move stealthily at a normal pace (while alone), you find twice as much food while foraging, and while tracking creatures, you learn the exact number, sizes, and how long ago they passed through the area.
You walk down the middle tunnel. It continues straight longer you expected it to. The heat and moisture in the air are almost unbearable. You can feel the sun heating the stony ground above you. There are a few small puddles along the ground that are visibly evaporating as you pass them. You can occasionally hear a quiet scratching echoing through the cave system, and the sound of light tapping against the rock surface, resembling someone running along the tunnels.
Jaylen lower towards the floor, about 3ft off the ground, you notice strange scratches, which seem like they could be letters and words.
(Dhara, at this point, I would say it's still a coastal terrain.)
(Sorry gang, I hadn't got any notifications for a couple of days and they all just hit me like a deluge!) Jaylen stops to investigate the strange markings. Can he make them out?
Halhace will continue to follow after the others, keeping a close watch on what the others do as they walk forward, as Jaylen stops, the orc sorcerer will pause as well to see if the writing is in any of the three languages he knows.
With the whole group stopping to look at the markings you hear Meep from behind Dhara. He tells you it’s in goblin and that it says ‘salt water side’ and under it ‘safe tunnel’.
Now that you know what to look for, you notice there are many more markings like it next to many of the smaller tunnels along the one you are following.
Kamos will start walking into the tunnel that is labeled safe tunnel, or at least hopes Meep's translation of the scribbles is right and it is a safe tunnel.

Halhace will follow as will, keeping close to the rest as he starts to leave makrs on the wall to try and leave them a path to follow back towards the entrance of the cave.
The tunnel is quite small and you need to hunch most of the way through it. It descends, harshly at times, forcing you to slow down and assist each other as you proceed. You would be surrounded by complete darkness, were it not for the light radiating from Jaylens staff. As the tunnel ends, a large cave opens up with a pool of water covering almost half of the floor. Loud splashing sounds echo through the cave as droplets fall from the ceiling into the pool. All the surfaces in the cave appear to be wet and the air around you is salty enough to taste. On the opposite side of cave, everyone but Jaylen can see something moving in one of the small tunnels. It’s a goblin warped in worn and tattered leather armour, with his back partially exposed and covered in blisters. For a moment, it freezes, as if it heard you, but then sits itself down and continues about its business.

Jaylen, after a closer look, it does seem like a type of writing, but the script is not one you can read.
(Does anyone else look at it when you all notice Jaylen stop?)
Halhace will continue to follow after the others, keeping a close watch on what the others do as they walk forward, as Jaylen stops, the orc sorcerer will pause as well to see if the writing is in any of the three languages he knows.
As will I (Common, Giant, Infernal, Undercommon)

Jaylen follows. He casts light at the tip of his staff and gets in line behind Kamos.

Does the splashing sound like this part of the cave may lead out to the ocean?
Also does the goblin look like it's more ..injured, or diseased?
