(Wow. Party rest area is pretty spread out. HDP will position his hammock.at X7, to serve as a link between those resting in the corridor and those in the cave.)
OOC: HDP, X7 is within the still-full pool, so I'm going to move you to X8.
A few hours into his watch, Glynquinal becomes aware of movement from the west/northwest. He stands and watches as a small crowd inches its way toward him. At the front of the group is a human with a lined face and short, white hair. He looks older, yet in very good shape. He appears to be wearing clothes normally worn under armor, but the armor has evidently been stripped from him. His hands are behind his back, and Glynquinal suspects he has been bound. He's also been gagged. A goblin is leading him along, a scimitar raised with the point not far from the man's side. There are more goblins following the man and his handler, but Glynquinal is having trouble knowing how many because of the width of the tunnel and the curve.
To be clear: Rock has not been awoken by this; only Glynquinal is aware that anything is happening.
Hearing a disturbance Glynquinal will quietly rise and hug the side of the cave on the south side of the tunnel, and ready his short sword and dagger. As soon as the goblin pushing the man along comes into range he will try to separate the captive and captor from each other if possible, and shout a warning to the others.
About 10 feet from the elf, the party halts. Looking at them, Glynquinal can see the lead goblin staring straight at him. It's fairly obvious they knew he was there and are coming to meet him. A voice comes from behind the lead goblin and the human. "No sudden movements, or the human bleeds," it says in Common. Glynquinal suspects (and is right) that the voice is not loud enough to carry to Rock.
This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.
OOC: I was going to roll a perception check for Rock to give him a slight chance of hearing the sword being thrown, but since he still hasn't added his character to the campaign, as I've asked him to do twice now, I've changed my mind. The dragonborn sleeps through the noise created by the sword being thrown. I should roll the goblin's perception, though, to see if it notices your sleight of hand: 18
It does not. Do you have any other response, or do you stay silent and let the voice continue?
Glynquinal hears the voice, now quieter and speaking in the goblin tongue, "You said it was a human." A reply, also in the goblin tongue: "I thought it was. They all look the same to me. Maybe it's a halfling." "It's not a halfling, you idiot!" the first voice replies in a loud whisper also in its native tongue. Then, in Common, the first voice continues, "What have you done with Klarg?"
Glynquinal responds, "Klarg, well now. Klarg was plotting against Yeemik. He was trying to incite many goblins against Yeemik so he could take over." Glynquinal shifts slightly into a better stance for throwing a dagger. He tried to force me to help him. It didn't end well for him."
Glynquinal hears a quick, quiet conversation in the goblin tongue: "What does it mean by that?" "I don't know." "Why didn't you check?" "How? It was keeping watch." "You could have gone the other way." "I don't like to climb. It hurts my fingers." "Idiot." Then, in Common, "What do you mean 'end well'?"
OOC2: The human is front and center of the pack. The rest of the creatures are basically using him as a shield. The leading goblin (the one holding a scimitar on him) gets half cover. The others get total cover.
Glynquinal responds easily, as though talking with an old friend, "He tried to force me to do something I didn't feel like doing, and all he got for his effort was dead. I've been told his kind were tough, but Klarg fell so easy those stories might have been lies."
Closing slowly to the group, Glynquinal continues, "Enough of that business though. Why don't we sit, eat, and drink something. Killing Klarg was thirsty work for me."
OOC: Because of the echoing of the constant water movement, I'm ruling that the conversation isn't overheard.
More goblin: "It says Klarg dead." "What of our kin?" A pause, then, in Common: "Show us the head of Klarg to prove he is dead." Muffled protests come from the human, but the point of the scimitar being pressed into his side quiets him.
Glynquinal replies, "His head is in the next chamber. Klarg was very angry with your kin because they refused to help him. I was too late to stop him before they fell."
Glynquinal turning east, adds "If you come with me, I will show you his head."

HDP has a hammock? Ian watches him set it up and gets jealous.
(Whoops. Stupid spell check on my phone. How did bedroll get turned into hammock? Anyway, it's a bedroll, though a hammock would be nice.)

OOC: Well now, that is a fly in the ointment. This should be interesting.

Throwing away his short sword to make as much noise as he can Glynquinal will try to palm his dagger unnoticed.

Glynquinal calls out to the lead goblin, "I care little for humans, they have held little love for me and my kind. Come, let us drink and talk."

OOC (does this mean out of campaign?): Does the sound of conversation allow Rock and HDP (who are nearest) to roll saves to wake up?
OOC means out of character, it can be information you have as a player that your in game character would not have, or be able to act on.
OOC: Cool. Thanks. :)
