(ooc one of the spells I have is Dancing Lights would that help in anyway so that Maegan can see the walls of the underwater maze so that she can actually see, dancing lights are magical lights so I don’t think they would be affected by the water)

Yes, dancing lights would be unaffected by the water. So far you've been using the light from the glyphs along the walls for light. As far as the creature you can't see, unfortunately more light won't help. One of this creature's traits is that as long as it is submerged in water it is invisible.

According to the PHB, looks like Fire magic works as usual underwater, but creatures fully submerged in water are resistant to fire damage. You aren't sure quite how far away it is, but you felt it try to grab you so it must be close.
