Aka smirks at Adira, joining her at the table. He puts his bow away, for now, but keeps his hand on one dagger, just in case. So, this place looks better than the last one. Wonder if we’ll have to burn down any houses here, no? Hope no one’s a ghost again. That was creepy.
Ericina will move to take a seat at the table with Adira and Aka, putting her head down as she sits. Despitet this she will still look around the bar, having been watching the kids since after they almost tripped her.

"Now this looks better." Bala muses as he looks about the inn. "Now then, " he holds out the longsword and orb, " let's find some takers." Bala will walk about the inn to find someone to parlay with his longsword and orb, 100 gp a piece.
Bala, you scan the room, the majority of the people here are simple townsfolk, the sort you don't imagine are very interested in a sword or an orb - much less ones so expensive. After going around to a few tables and failing to sell anyone on the idea of purchasing a sword for 100 gold, one of the patrons points you out to the bartender. She dips into the kitchen for a second and a large-framed, silver-haired man comes out. He scratches at the large beard he has tucked under his apron as he scans the room. Making eye-contact with you, he approaches and places a large hand on your shoulder. "Excuse me, but I am going to have to ask you to stop bothering my customers."
Ismark and Ireena enter the inn behind you, Ismark walks up to the bar and speaks with the silver-haired woman, pointing at your lot. The woman nods in affirmation as Ismark sets down a heavy-looking coinpurse on the counter. The two come to join your party at the table, "Drinks and food are on me," he says. The barkeep whistles and the two children come to her side, together the three of them begin to carry bowls of beet soup and plates of cooked meat, one for each of you. The silver-haired woman identifies the meat as wolf steak; she returns with a couple pitchers of wine and cups for each of you, "This wine is called Red Dragon Crush, the finest from the Wizard of Wines vineyard." Ismark nods and thanks the woman before turning you all. "I've arranged for rooms here tonight. Whenever you are ready to retire Madam Martikov says she will show you to your rooms," he says, indicating the silver-haired woman.
"So, what are you all planning to do now?" he asks.
Adira will lean her forehead into the palm of her hand, "Bala, nobody but a noble is going to have that kind of coin! I haven't seen that much money at once in my whole life!"
She'll dig into the food, raising her eyebrows a bit at the wolf meat. Quite unusual. When Ismark asks where they are off to next she'll say, "Tser Pool I think." Looking at the others for confirmation."The Vistani who asked us to come here want us to meet with a... Madam Eva I think she's called?"

"That's cuz you don't know where to look! There's always next town." Bala sits in his seat and pouts, pushing his food away from him. "Speaking of which, when was 200 gold expensive? That's a chair where I'm from!" He looks to Ismark. "Don't tell me, Strahd took all the gold? This place sucks."
"I am a noble and I don't have that kind of coin strange cat." Ericina says as she seems to fiddle with the signet ring around her neck. She fails to mention that she is an exiled noble and was nearly 5th or 6th in line to become the next Lord of her family.
Does anyone? Aka shrugs. No. No one has that money, Bala. Maybe halve the price- then someone will buy it, maybe. Aka looks at Iskmark. I don’t know. What‘s there to do here? Any good hunts?
"I've only been to Vallaki once," Ismark says, "In my youth, I don't remember much."
Ireena turns to you all, "I've heard of Madam Eva, the Vistani have a great respect for her. If she wants to see you, you should go. I've been told that a Vistana can curse you with just a glare; it'd be best not to offend them by ignoring their invitation."
"Bah!" Ismark says, "I've let the Vistani know exactly what I think of them and it never hurt me."

Krolbrik would enter the bar behind Ismark and Ireena, having been bringing up the rear and draped in a black cloak that somewhat shadowed and obscured his goblinoid features; though he imagined, being a muscular, orange-hued hobgoblin with yellow eyes who stood at 6'8" and thus mostly towered over most humans and his other companions in height and weight, he'd have a difficult time doing so.
Even so, Krolbrik wasn't oblivious to the potential risk of panic he could spark as a hobgoblin in a human settlement; he didn't want to cause a fright or stir in Vallaki, but he imagined that the people of Barovia had suffered worse at the hands of Strahd and his minions. Certainly worse than the brutality and savagery of his goblinoid kin, which was bad enough.
His expression had been troubled the entire time, especially after coming upon the gallows. Though he wasn't shaken, Krolbrik figured that it was a message from the master of the land. A taunt, even; Strahd likely had eyes and ears in many places across Barovia.
To some degree or another, they were all being watched. Monitored. Tested.
And Krolbrik didn't like that; not one bit. It bothered him both as a paladin and as a person; though his oath always commanded him to help guide others to penance if it were possible, he had a feeling that might not be the case for Strahd and his minions.
And from there, his thoughts drifted to Stanimir and the Vistani. If what Ismark said was true, than the old man, his son and this "Madam Eva"... they couldn't trust any of them. There was no telling who among them was with Strahd and who wasn't.
Krolbrik continued to stew over his troubled thoughts, until he heard the clamoring and commotion of Bala's mercantile pursuits... in a tavern, of all places, and the barkeep politely asking him to stop badgering folks.
Ignoring the tabaxi's petulance (though he did give him a brief glance as if to say, "dude, really? It's a tavern"), Krolbrik's stomach rumbled as he smelled the food; it was pleasant to his nostrils, and it had indeed been awhile since he'd last enjoyed a meal. Besides... they were in a tavern. Having been the son of a family of tavernkeeps, Krolbrik very much felt at home and mostly at ease, though he would abstain from much alcohol and keep an eyes out for any pickpockets who might see an opportunity; he'd try to settle in, though after struggling with a smaller chair, he asked one of the small children if there was a larger seat for his bigger frame.
Perception for pickpockets: 15
"Thank you very much for your hospitality, Ismark, Lady Ireena," Krolbrik would rumble, a slight smile coming across his features, taking a sip of soup; Krolbrik's stomach audibly growled at having its hunger appeased. "It does me good to find a place where there is warmth and a good meal. And... I'm not going to lie, Lady Ireena, I'm a bit inclined to agree with your brother on this; if the others decide to go, I will go because I seek to keep them safe, but Ismark has a point; I don't think many Vistani are very trustworthy, at this point. Especially given the false pretenses they brought us here to Barovia with."

Adira will frown as Krolbrik speaks but waits until he's finished. She has a great deal of respect for Krolbrik and her question is genuinely curious."What part of what they told us was false? They said their Prince was cursed and they needed our aid. That seems true enough, though... it does also seem like there is quite a lot they left out. I am eager to go meet Madam Eva and hear the rest of the story. Now if you'll excuse me, this seems like the first place we've been in quite a while that seems amenable to some music." She will scoot her chair back and pick up her instrument case, "And it has been too long since I played."
She will find an out of the way corner to stand in and tuck her fiddle under her chin, playing some light and cheerful music- trying not to be too distracting for those who are trying to converse.

Adira, the crowd seems to enjoy your playing. Some of the more inebriated patrons clap their hands to the song, slightly off beat but enjoying themselves. As you play through the night, the patrons will begin to file out but not before dropping a few coins at your feet as they leave; thankful for a good song and a skilled musician to spend the evening with. From your spot overlooking the common room, you also notice the half-elf from before return. He sits in the common room and drops you a tip before retiring to his room upstairs. Even Ismark and Ireena toss you a few silvery coins as you play. By the time the common room empties, you'll find yourself 4 electrum pieces, 8 silvers, and 26 coppers richer. Embossed on each of these coins is a grim side profile of a man, beneath which is engraved the name "Count Strahd von Zarovich."
Krolbrik, some of the patrons of the inn give you and your party strange looks as you step in. You're a motley crew, two humans accompanied by a strange woman with horns like a devil, a cat and a lizard that stand on two legs, and you with your goblinoid features. Strangely though, the glances don't linger. Unlike in cities you may have visited before, it seems that these people don't hold the same prejudices towards kobolds or goblinkind. The more you think about it, the more you realize that nearly everyone you've met up to this point has been a human. You snag the attention of one of the boys, asking for a larger chair, but he shakes his head. "We don't have no bigger chairs, sorry," he says.
The grey-haired Madam Martikov approaches the table and leads you all to your rooms upstairs with a smile as her husband finishes cleaning the taphouse. You exit out the front doors, Madam Martikov pulls a heavy shawl tight around herself as her oil lamp illuminates the courtyard. She leads you around to the side of the building where a sturdy wooden staircase leads up to the second floor. Stepping through a heavy wooden door, you all find yourself on a narrow walkway; this twenty-foot-long balcony provides a clear view of the bar and has a wooden railing carved with raven motifs. The taproom’s many lanterns illuminate the rafters and cast ominous shadows on the peaked ceiling. Facing straight ahead, this walkway has three doors: two on the left and one capping the end.
Madam Martikov unlocks and opens the first door and motions towards it, "Ismark, Ireena, you'll be sleeping here." She hands them both a key to the room and following her direction the two step in. Ismark turns to all of you. "Thank you again for all of your help. Remember, if you ever need anything, you have only but to ask me." With that he shuts the door behind him.
Continuing down, the grey-haired woman unlocks and opens the second door on the left, "Ladies, this is your room." She hands you, Adira and Ericina, each a key, "Make sure to return these when you plan to leave," she says. Stepping inside, you can see two cozy beds with matching footlockers resting in the far corners of this fifteen-foot-square room. Wolf furs are heaped atop each bed. Between the beds, a lamp sits on a table under a shuttered window. Two tall black wardrobes stand against the wall by the door.
At the end of the hallway, the woman unlocks and opens the door, handing each of the rest of you a key as you step inside. The last room is larger and contains four plain beds with straw mattresses lining the north wall. Each bed comes with a matching footlocker to store clothing and other belongings. A table and four chairs occupy the corner across from the door. An oil lamp resting on the table casts a bright yellow flame, lighting the room well. She eyes each of you, but lingers on Bala. "Remember to return those keys when you leave, gentlemen," she says, exiting through the door and pulling it shut behind her.
The six of you can take this time to plan your next steps, then rest and prepare for the adventure ahead in the morning. Will you head to Madam Eva's camp or find something in Vallaki to fill your time?
"Well, I don't know about you lot, but I'm gonna be getting myself a few arrows for this fella in the morning." Bala sits on his bed and pulls out the hand crossbow. "You know, I was thinking about naming it. How's about... Durst's Vengence!" Bala springs to his feet and poses on the bed. "Yeah, that fits."
Ericina goes over to her bed but seems to pout at seeing the wolfskin on the bed for a few seconds before she shrugs and begins to ready herself for bed. This doens't invovl much as she does ot even bother to remove her armor, merely setting her pack, weapons and boots off to one side. As she climbs in bed she pulls out Fuzzball, having the rat curl up on the pillow near her head.
Adira will cheerfully gather her tips, "So stock up on supplies in the morning and then head out before noon to reach Madam Eva's before dark?"
She would carefully stow her fiddle and kick off her boots and armor. She would also scrub some of the dirt off of herself before snuggling into the bed for the night.

When you all wake up in the morning, dull overcast skies fills the inn's rooms with a soft light. You've all hot a few hours before dawn to make any preparations. In the daylight, you all make your way out into the streets, presumably returning your keys to your hosts before you leave.
Bala and Adira, the two of you set out to stock up on supplies. Everyone you ask points you down the street you came in on, towards the Arasek Stockyard. You find it easily by the large sign hanging over the front gate. Wooden sheds line the periphery of the yard and a large warehouse dominates the center. Set off to the side is a sturdy wagon whose paint-job, once vibrant, is now faded and peeling.
Stepping into the front door of the warehouse, you trigger a bell above the door, alerting a stocky woman to you presence. She smoothes her skirts and steps out from behind a stack of shelves, filled with odds and ends.
"How do you do? Name's Yelena Arasek. What can I do for you folks?"
Krolbrik, for custom orders there is a blacksmith off the town square; he's a ferrier mainly but he has experience making and maintaining equipment for the town watch. For pre-owned wares your best bet is Arasek's shop.
Ericina well mostly spend her time looking for the local urban animals to spend her time messing with them. After a while she will get bored and attempt to find the rest of the party.
