Aka, at the top of the stairs is another long hallway spanning the width of the house. Unlit oil lamps are mounted on the walls of this elegant hall. Hanging above the mantelpiece is a wood-framed portrait. A small brass plaque attached to the frame reads, "The Durst Family." A serious patriarch, his wife and their two children - who you recognize as the two that asked you for help. Cradled in the father's arms is a swaddled baby. Standing suits of armor flank wooden doors in the east and west walls. Each suit of armor clutches a spear and has a visored helm shaped like a wolf’s head. The doors are carved with dancing youths. The red marble staircase that started on the first floor continues its upward spiral. A cold draft can be felt coming down the steps.

Annoyed at the cat-man's thievery, Krolbrik strolls over and proceeds to tap Bala on the shoulder to get his attention.
"Let me be clear... if you keep trying to take things in this house that do not belong to you, I am going to find a rope and hog-tie your arms. This is not your home, and these are not your things."
He leans forward, his yellow eyes boring into Bala. He means it!
Bala, you drop the painting clumsily as you attempt to take it down from above the mantle. Everybody, except for Aka who is on the second floor, notices you.

Roux walks over to Krolbrik ignoring the pilfering tabaxi "I agree, but the only way to find out what is truly going on is to explore more. " then he joins aka " find any way down in here? Those are some impressive trophies" then he will canvass the room looking for any trapdoor or the like.

Investigation: 20
(Oops I thought he was still in the other room downstairs)
Roux, you canvas the room and find no trapdoors. In your search you attempt to look through each cabinet to check if they have false backings to no avail. One is solidly locked and the other contains only wineglasses and a deck of playing cards.
Aka, an undecorated bedroom contains a pair of beds with straw-stuffed mattresses. At the foot of each bed is an empty footlocker. A dumbwaiter in the corner of the west wall has a button on the wall next to it
(Also, Aka, gonna put a memorandum on you opening further doors until everyone else gets caught up. Also this is my last post for tonight its been a good first day, see you guys tomorrow!)
(I don't know how to resist intimidation, so I'll say Bala is scared stiff :))
Bala smiles a wide, nervous smile, holding his hands above his head. "No need to be cross friend, I just thought it was taking up space." That fall probably cracked it anyways. Bala would jump from the fireplace, hands still above his head.
(I don't think that intimidating/persuading other PCs is a mechanic, so if any of you want to do that don't worry about rolls, just play it out the way your characters would act :^) )

"Very well, " Bala takes a very quick glance back at Krolbrik before sprinting ahead of Roux. He looks up at the cupboard and tilts his head, popping a claw(forgot to give this boy thieves tools)). "What do you think is in there?" He says, putting his claw in the lock.

Ericina walks zround the main hall as she watches the others move akong to other rooms, shaking her head at the actions of the theiving tabaxi. She will reach into her pack to pull out a water skin. As she sees him being scared by the ithers she shakes her head and walks over. "That is jot how you disipline cats that misbehave. You do it like this." She pours a bit of water on her hand and moves to flick it at him once he tries to peon the lock.
With that done she leaves this room and goes into the room eith the hubting trophies. "Finally animals!" She runs over to pet the wolf close then pauses as it clicks in her head that it is stuffed. "Hmmm must have been bad...." She will turn away and look for anytning of interest herself.
Adira continues to look around the first floor, having lowered her rapier since danger doesn't seem imminent. She would like to try and open the door to the very small room between the two dining room doors, maybe there's a staircase or trap door going down in there?
(Due to her terrible passive perception, she has been mostly oblivious to Bala's theivery XD )
She's starting to worry that maybe this monster was all in the children's imagination, since the group has not been very quiet and nothing has come at them. She'd rather not have to explain to a pair of angry aristocrats why there are a bunch of strangers rummaging around in their home.
Recalling that he had seen Aka head upstairs and satisfied that the rest of his companion had Bala's sticky paws well under control, Krolbrik decided to head upstairs himself to check on their kobold companion. It was then he felt the chilling draft coming from up the stairs; he didn't try to disguise his movements this time; there was little point in him trying to hide his prescence at the moment, clad as he was in his armor.
By all that is good, what is going on in this place...? He thought to himself, doing what he could not to shiver from the surprising chill in the air coming from the upper stairwell, subconsciously grippng the pewter amulet baring the crest of Torm and a shepherd's crook, the symbol of Krolbrik's order and dedication to Torm. Two children standing in the dark, an unlit, untended house with no hints of so much as a single adult around... and the reserves of my blessings from great Torm have yet to return to me. I have an ill premonition about this place, but what else can we do but look around? Bah, this is frustrating... Lord Torm, please give me the resolve to carry on in this and protect my companions... even the thief that shamelessly tries to steal from children. The un-natural quiet of this land is surely not some good thing.
When he went up the stairs, the first thing Krolbrik noticed was the second fireplace and the suits of armor standing adjacent to one another in the hallway, ever-vigilant, as well as the portait of the Durst family. He took a moment to examine it, his yellow eyes going from all the faces in view, immediately recognizing the little boy and girl from outside. What caught his eye wasn't he prescence of the parents, however, but that of an infant.
A third child...? Krolbrik was now a bit perturbed. Could the babe still be here, trapped in these walls with the beast his siblings fear? I pray not.
Looking around the room, he noticed the door nearest to the stairwell was open, and went inside to find Aka standing in the mouth of the room.
"Are you alright up here?" He grunts, looking the kobold over. "I saw you go here. I figured you would rather not be by yourself in this place."
While he's at it, he takes a look around inside the room, himself.*

A baby? But it wasn't with the children. ! Aka opens the door to the right and looks around it, worried about the baby.
(are the kids close enough to see bala stealing from them? That'd be funny.) investigation:13

Haven’t used this account in forever. Still a big fan of crawling claws.

(I think it's either a wis or cha roll to contest like resisting grapple. Maybe. But that works as well)
"Okay then Bala, there's a lock that could use picking over here. Maybe it will lead us in the right direction"
He walks back to the cupboard gesturing for bala to follow
