Out of the corner of your eye, standing in the mist, you think you see a dark, cloaked figure watching you. As you turn your head to look at the figure it disappears into the mist.

After checking the room for any sort of hidden door, Roux would go across the hall and start pouring over the books seeking any knowledge that could aid him in his personal quest or with their current predicament. "So many books, I bet this family has much more wealth than they need."

Why haven't we found a basement already! And there's a baby somewhere!an angry and annoyed, Aka walks up the next flight of stairs, and opens up the nearest door he sees.

Adira puts a hand on the hilt of her rapier and calls out into the fog, "Hello! Who goes there?" She realizes with frustration that she never asked the children their names. "Children? Where are you?"
"Does this place even have a basement?!" Bala shouts to no one, strolling into the kitchen. He's about to take more silverware when he notices the dumbwaiter. "The heck do they use this for?" He would reach up to open it(unless it already is) and check to see if it can go up or down.
Roux, the bookshelves hold hundreds of tomes covering a range of topics including history, warfare, and alchemy. There are also several shelves containing first-edition collected works of poetry and fiction. As you peruse the bookshelf, a red-covered book with a blank spine catches your attention. As you go to pull it, you hear a click and the bookshelf swings out on its hinges revealing a hidden room.
This secret room contains bookshelves packed with tomes. A heavy wooden chest with clawed iron feet stands against the south wall, its lid half-closed. Sticking out of the chest is a skeleton in leather armor. Clutched in the skeleton’s left hand is a letter.
Aka, you climb the red marble staircase to its full height and come to a dusty balcony with a suit of black plate armor standing against one wall, draped in cobwebs. Oil lamps are mounted on the oak-paneled walls, which are carved with woodland scenes of trees, falling leaves, and tiny critters. On the other side of the suit of armor you see two doors and rush towards them. As you reach out to turn the doorknob you hear behind you the grating sound of metal on metal. You turn your head towards the source and see two heavy metal fists coming directly towards your face.
First attack: 23 for 3 bludgeoning. Second attack: 15 for 7 bludgeoning.
Krolbrik, the desk has several items resting atop it: an oil lamp, a jar of ink, a quill pen, a tinderbox, and a letter kit containing a red wax candle, four blank sheets of parchment, and a wooden seal bearing the Durst family’s insignia: a windmill. The desk drawer is empty except for an iron key.
Yesqirelle, the room on the second floor appears to be a servants' quarters. Besides some uniforms hanging in the closet there's nothing of note.
Adira, no response. Your voice echoes off of the nearby houses, but the streets are empty and silent.
Bala, the dumbwaiter is on this floor. You tug on the pulley both ways, but it only seems to go up
The sounds of heavy thuds echo throughout the house as the suit of armor springs to life.
(No, I've got a longbow out so if I hit it I have disadvantage to do so. and the dice rolls keep changing. now i'm at 5, I used to be at 3, and you just said I was knocked out.)

Krolbrik takes the key, as he is supicious that nobody is home and suspects they will need it... when he hears the disturbance coming above of a scuffle.
That was where the kobold went!
Hurriedly, Krolbrik drew his longsword and went hustling up the stairs to find Aka being cornered by an animate suit of armor.
"Leave him alone!" Krolbrik bellowed, his face curling into a menacing snarl as he held his longsword aloft.

Hearing the thump Roux will rush up to the stairs (darn 30 ft of movement) and shout up the stairs "Who's there!" (I probably didn't see him go up the stair did I?)
(Krolbrik, you'll start in the library. Roux, same for you, on your turn you'll start in the corner of the library. You'll have to make movement on your turn. Yesqirelle, the commotion is coming from up the stairs, it will take your full movement to rush up there. )

Ericina initiative: 5
Ericina hears what Roux said to her but had continued on with her trip to the huntsroom, her hand slipping the gold into one of the parts of her bag. As she hears calling from upstairs she will go to see what it is about, her hand still keeping in contact with the hilt of her scimitar as even crazed she still was aware enough to be careful with strange creatures. "What is that about a baby? Does it need to be fed or changed?"

Yesqirelle will go into the upstairs room that has beds in it (assuming that's a master bedroom?) and look for anything suspicious.

A baby...?
So that picture wasn't just for show, then. There was a third child here, if the urgency of the kobold's words were anything to go by.
Now wary of this house, Krolbrik carefully walks into the room with the grand desk.
Was he in some kind of library? He decides to have a look around. Something, anything that might tell him of what is happening in this benighted land.

How far away from the commotion is Yesqirelle?
(DDB's dice roller is weird sometimes. I don't know what's happening now though, since it doesn't even have the dice manipulated tag.)
