If the weather improves considerably before the day is over Elber will suggest they look for Vern, otherwise he'll brave the weather and go for a walkabout just to get the lay of the land.
If Elber heads out, even in the rain, Duncan will see him, stand up and say "To hell with the rain!"slam another beer and add to Elber "let's see what this town has eh?" pulling his cloak up, and heading out.
Within the Dancing horse, you still see Rufus trying to catch a covert glance at your group. More so as the two sets of new comers merge into one and start to share their tales. You see his look is of general disgust more than open malice and he makes no further outcries towards you after his last was ignored.
Jayden still serves from the taps, where Marsha has joined him and taken up a conversation with some of the nearby locals.
Of the other patrons, none stand out to you as remarkable, and you are confident that the most you would get out of them would be small talk about the weather and a polite dismissal.
@Elber
A survival check will allow you to estimate whether the rain will abate soon, but it looks highly unlikely that the storm will blow over any time in the next few hours. The clouds so intent on emptying themselves over you have moved very little in the time since since you initially crested the rise and first saw the town, to when you entered Conwe and took shelter indoors. Your best hope would be for the storm to rain itself out but again you aren't hopeful of that from seeing such storms before.
@Artemis
Ghost flaps his wings and rises high into the sky, soaring on the light winds through the storm. The soft feathers of it's wing taking on water and making it hard to fly, but the town is small and the church easy to see. The familiar glides down to the bell tower and takes perch on a window ledge; the lights in the building are on, but there is quiet within. Shaking the rain off and preening it's feathers, Ghost takes wing and circles down and into the building before finding a rafter to sit on.
@Drex
Imp see's the owl push into the sky, then glide downwards; following as best it can, Imp hurries through the near deserted street, past the well and onward past a number of buildings with large windows. Turning down another wide street, Imp is just in time to see Ghost fly into the building and dodge past a couple of people hurrying past with their cloaks pulled high to stave off the heavy rain.
@Artemis and Drex -
The church has two people inside, both have their heads bowed as they sit in silence on the wooden benched that run length of the building's interior. There are candles flickering in their sconces, probably lit when the storm clouds came overhead and took the midday light away. Imp hops over to each of the people and stares at their faces; one an old woman, lines of age covering her visage; the other seated some distance away is a young man, the rain dripping down his head masks most tears. Ghost watches Imp's search conducting it's own hunt from the rafter. Only knowing Vern to be 'old', neither familiar can relate that he is present right now.
Ghost, although reluctantly, heads back out into the downpour and circles the area looking for old men. Though he sees none out in the rain, for most folks hurry about with cloaks up, the more
Imp continues to search the inside of the building, where it's dry. There are a number of doors and curtained areas off the main room, which Imp tries to explore. Most seem to be of no consequence, seeming to be hidden storage or small side rooms of a nondescript purpose. One towards the rear of the altar has a draft coming from teh other side and won't open under Imp's attempts to push or pull it.
Artemis turns to Elber, "Time to test if you can be trusted, I am going to be unable to see or hear from this body for a short while though I can still feel. Please keep an eye to make sure there is no funny business from anyone here," with a quick glance at Rufus, "Especially him. Tap me on the shoulder if something is going on. Oh, and if you decide to try and steal from me then I will burn your flesh off but I really hope that won't be necessary. You seem nice enough or I wouldn't give you this task"
Artemis will then spend 10 minutes or so with his eyes shut and unresponsive looking through Ghost's senses, enough to gather all the information from above. After about 5 minutes, without opening his eyes, "I still can't hear you if you reply yet but there are no old men visible in the church currently. A trip through this rain would probably be wasted." Then at the end of the time, he opens his eyes again. "And no way of telling who is on the streets either, not from a birds-eye view at least. Anyway, I will go to my room to do some reading now, if you decide to head on out or come across anything you feel like I might like to know, Drex knows where my room is" Artemis heads away to his room (after any reply or simultaneous things from others. I am happy to roll over to the next day)
In his room, Artemis will spend 22 minutes putting a magical burglar alarm on his door and Window (mental), only Artemis and Ghost won't set it off. He opens the window for Ghost to fly in and dry off and spends the time until sleeping just reading through some random books and also his spellbook. He will recast alarm before sleeping as well as it only lasts 8 hours.
Elber raises an eyebrow at Artemis' strange request but nods, and once the pair of spellcasters seem unresponsive he'll whisper to those who were present in the cellar of insanity. "These ones seem... better than the last wizard we met, but I will end them like him if they turn on us."
Every now and then he'll shuffle over to the door to check on the weather, and once Artemis is back to his senses he'll suggest going for a walk despite the weather and the lack of old men (accompanied by Duncan and whoever else doesn't mind getting soaked again). He leaves the bow and backpack with whoever remains, but carries his bundled swords over his shoulder as he heads out.
Survival: 10 Perception (disadv due to weather): 12
((Ok, Artemis or Drex can guide you directly to the church, or you can wander around Conwe to get the 'lay of the land'. About an hour of walking would get you all the highlights with Artemis or Drex present.))
@Elber - You forsee the weather holding out into the early evening, but don't think it has the legs to last the night. ((What are you trying to perceive?))
((Undead skulking about under cover of bad weather? :P Elber is mostly stretching his legs and making himself more familiar with the town and its nearest accessible landmarks.))
It's not that Elber enjoys the weather but he's less bothered than most lowlanders, with the likely exception of fishermen and sailors. "This should be over by dawn, but there be much left of the day to be spent walking wet and miserable instead of sitting in the dry comfort. Bet a coin on who complains first?" He laughs and slaps Duncan on the shoulder as they walk around town.
((Edit: I'm basically just passing the time until tomorrow. If nothing interferes with the walkabout, it's safe to conclude that after a while they head back to the tavern to dry off and get a good night's rest.))
Duncan replies "I've been through worse in the academy. We wont melt! Let's see if there are any other's out in this weather. They may prove to have an interesting story to tell."
Drex shakes his head about this talk of going out in the weather. "I for one will not be going out unless I am needed. As in saving some ones life. But I wish not to catch cold or even sniffles. So I will let Imp be my eyes and ears and mouth for the mean time." With a nod Drex heads to the bar and ask if he can help serve till the bar maiden gets here.
((Drex will be fishing for any tips if he helps to serve, flashing his pretty green eyes and brightlock smile, if you want a roll or anything just roll for me in your update.))
“Well I don’t really care about the sniffles, but I am much happier dry than wet. I will stay here for now, you have fun getting soaked all over again.” Jack jokes to Elber.
The young thief goes over to the bar where Marsha and the locals are. “G’day everyone. My name is Jack, pleasure to be drinking with you.” After some pleasantries are exchanged. ”Sooo, other than drinking at this fine establishment. What is there in this town that would interest a traveler? Famous sites, good shops, places to stay away from?” Later in the conversation Jack will ask, “Also, what temples are here in town?”
All the while, using his boyish charm and sly smile to try and open the locals up a bit. Persuasion: 6
Kai is going to study the others in the tavern... perhaps we are over looking the obvious and there is an elderly, preistly looking man in the bar? Or someone more friendly than the first patron.
After a few hours, Artemis will come downstairs again (around 19:00) and if the others haven't yet returned (though I doubt they will be 5 hours) he will send Ghost to watch them and if they have returned he will suggest planning for the next day (in other words the ooc chat conversation)
Kai awakens the next morning refreshed and eager to start the day. Taking his kit, he heads downstairs for his ritual tea. Sitting beside Artemis, he says a polite "Good Morning," and offers him some leaves for tea, before taking out a small, block of wood and beginning to carve.
If there is different staff on duty, he will ask about Isabou.
OCC: In-Laws are coming in for an extended stay from Europe, so I will be be a bit out of pocket this Tuesday night, till Friday. I will be able to post, but we all know how fun it is to post via phone...
Duncan will come down the next morning, order a pint and breakfast, then look to Kai and say "Whatcha makin' there? Got any extra wood?"((Duncan is also proficient in wood carving~))Then digging into his meal, to the rest will say "Y'all ready to go slice some ghosts?"
((I hope it's not really ghosts. lol. We ain't got magic weapons yet))
(@Kai, my post was for the evening of the previous day. I will wait before carrying on this day for PBS in case something happens for the previous day) (@Kev, who needs magic weapons when you have magic) (Seeing as Drex and Artemis have been here 2 days and have woken up then it seems fine to wake up... though maybe extra strangers make the threat worse ;) )
((Just a reminder, it is about 14:00 but I am happy to roll over to the next day if you want? Will post Ghost & Imp's findings later today.))
