"Can we focus, please?" the voice echoes in your minds, this time including Brix, whose head darts around in jerky, rage-fueled movements looking for the source of the sound.
"Let me be clear: I have no interest in dealing fairly. I could simply kill you all and be done with it, but... well, I must be going soft over the centuries because I feel inclined to spare you, as long as you cooperate. Now... what is your choice? I may have an eternity, but I don't have all day."
As Fluffy begins to explore the pool, he discovers that all four pools are connected beneath the thin stone walkway cris-crossing between them. He sees an opening in the northern part of the western wall, and another opposite that, on the southern part of the eastern wall.
under the water, Celric begins to pray in Draconic, "Bahamut, my lord, it is your faithful servant. It has been a long day since meeting these fine adventurers and I do wish it were over now. Myself and brother Flynt have seemed to grown quite fond of the water -- but I do miss land already. And really what I would like is some of your assistance. I cannot see where this voice comes but it talks a big game and desires what I can only imagine is a powerful artifact. Please your holyness, smite down the one behind the voice or give me the strength to do it myself. I do not call on you much, but now would be a good time. If you do not answer, you can still count on me as you always have. Thank you your graciousness."

Gash- Lvl14 Goblin Wizard - The High Court of the Aasimar Queen
A smile crosses the half-elf’s face as normal service is resumed and their goblin companion is once again loud and angry.
”Brix! The aboleth may be dead, but I think we may have something better for you to kill.”
The thief stands and looks up towards the centre of the ceiling, hoping the voice can hear him.
”This is the problem with creatures that speak telepathically, they always think what they have to say is more important than anything or anyone else. We’ve just gained a friend back, so wait your damn turn. We’d love to help you, but sadly we’ve already been asked nicely by someone else for this thing, and they ‘threatened’ us with rewards, not death. Surely if you’re so wonderful, you don’t need a magic doo-dah cluttering up the place?”
Jarl’s going to move closer to Shale, for Lesser Restoration, but he’s not going to take his eyes off the little he can see of the creature, which means he’s probably still in the water (T10, or out of the water if he uses his action to move as well).
(Assuming we are in the "2nd round" with the newcomer...)
Shale walks over to Jarl, places a hand on his arm and once again focus on the magics through his staff to relieve the sickness. "That should be better." The magic drained from his staff, he places it on his back.
(Staff roll 5 to make sure it doesn't disappear...at least it's not a one.)
"Let's not be too quick here, fellas," the cleric says to the rest of the group. "Besides, I'm feeling a little drained... and getting hungry."
Mostly I’d lost track of where exactly Shale was. Jarl’s going to go ahead and take a healing potion, then (unfortunately he was a cat when the GHPs were given out, so I don’t think he’s got one of those, just a regular from his equipment). 6 healed
"Did you want it Shale? As long as I can study it later it's yours! I've got Fluffy scouting out the underwater passage for exits. Celric; Flynt; I'm excited to go home too but let's wait for Fluffy to get back. You guys are going to get hypothermia."
"It seems the owner of that device is wanting it back. Says he'll kill us all if we don't." Shale looks back to the pool where the dragonborn are swimming. "I'm going to need some tome to fix those two."
This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.
"I extend a generous offer to you and your gnome mocks me with cheap parlor tricks?" the voice says (unable to actually talk to Squiggles directly), evidently not fooled by the illusion. "No matter, I can use a few more thralls."
Suddenly you hear an incantation, this time not in your minds but coming from somewhere in the darkness above you to the north (A13), just before a bead of orange light comes streaking toward the aboleth's corpse, exploding into a ball of fire that engulfs most of you (centered at T/U 10/11: everyone but Balian and Brix are in it)
DEX saves vs Fireball
Celric: 4
Flynt: 19
Jarl: 19
Shale: 12
Squiggles: 11
Damage roll (half on success or failure w/ fire resistance; quarter on success w/ fire resistance): 33
Flynt, Jarl, Shale and Squiggles take 22 fire damage; Celric takes 11 (I don't think anybody had any reason to have advantage on the DEX save, but let me know if that's wrong)
Jarl:
You can now see a hideous humanoid-looking creature on the ledge (at A13). It is clad in dark robes, and has long, spindly fingers, and tentacles hanging down from a squid-like face. You recognize this as a mind-flayer, but its skin is dry and cracked rather than slimy.
For the purposes of counterspell (since I assume that will come up), if the creature casts a spell while you can see it, I'll put the description of what happens in a spoiler box so you can make a decision about counterspelling before you read it. I will assume that you automatically can identify any of the spells that you actually know (though not the slot level being used). Otherwise I'll roll an arcana check for you "behind the screen", and on a roll of 10 plus the spell's level, you can identify a spell on the the wizard list from the verbal or somatic components, in time to decide whether to counterspell. If a spell is not on the wizard list, I'll make the roll with disadvantage.
As far as Bigby's Hand goes, up to you whether you think Squiggles would still have it up or not. I think he would have heard Jarl and others talking to the creature, even though he couldn't hear its voice himself. Of course, if he would still have it up, he'll need a DC 11 concentration save now.
Squiggles puts Fluffy the Octopus in the water to find the exit

"Squiggles," Shale says with tone of impending bad news, "you may have to give up your new toy. Sorry, bub..."

OOC - I took all the heal pots and forgot to give them out before we dropped in on the aboleth, so I suppose if anyone wants one let me know.

OoC: it occurs to me Squiggles would absolutely have stopped concentrating on bigbys hand
"Wait, what? That would explain a few things here."
Squiggles casts Minor Illusion as he holds out his hand and places an illusory resonator on the floor
