The group enters what was once an old workshop. In the corner appears to be a work desk with a few papers scattered on it. A small forge and anvil rests in the southwest corner of the workshop. A small collection of rusted weapons - spears, arrows, and swords - is carelessly stacked in one corner. As Zakon looks around, he notices that the weapons aren't the greatest of quality. They were never meant for warfare; probably just for the various traps in this temple.

The papers on the work desk are various drawings and designs for some of the traps that you have encountered so far. You recognize the large pit from the front hall in one of the drawings. You're even more relieved that no one fell in. It appears that falling in the pit would have triggered some kind of a mechanism to make the chandelier fall on top of the entrapped person.
Let's do investigation check to see if you find anything else of particular interest.

Among the documents, you find a few plans for traps your team had not seen yet. One appears to be for the veranda, at least that's what the horribly drawn diagram looks like. The statues are rigged to have a scythe pop out to cut down any unwelcome visitor who gets too close. Another diagram is for the front door. It's some sort of mechanism that triggers when one pulls up on the door handle. A small hole opens and a needle, dowsed in...something pricks the intruder. It's hard to say what potion is being used since the notes are in disarray, but your group pretty much bashed down the door, so you never encountered it. You also find two sets of thieves' tools lying on the table. Taking the time to study these traps has also proved useful in knowing how they typically work.
Kelvin, you will now have an advantage in your rolls if you choose to attempt to disarm traps.

A small flood of dank water floods out as Theo opens the door. Looking into the small dark room, a broken water tank has collapsed in the center of the room, covering the floor of this cellar with ankle-deep water. Trickles spill from broken pipework in the southeast corner and the walls drip with condensation. Several pairs of beady eyes glare back at you. It seems a family of rats has made this part of the basement their new nest, which you have disturbed.
Roll for initiative to fight the rats or get out of dodge?
This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.
They haven't been exploring the once workshop for long when Theoopens the door on the far side. Allowing a small flood of rancid smelling water to wash through from the room beyond. The room beyond where several pairs of beady eyes glare out at them from the darkness. Rats. Lovely. "We've come this far." Viaya points out, drawing her rapier. "Letting a few rats stop us at this point would just be embarrassing."
Initiative: 17
I too have to apologize for vanishing. Internet was once again cut off at my dorms. Good news is, it's finally fixed! I'll be a lot more regular now, no more long stretches of silence, promise. :)

Actually wait no it's the other way around, higher initiative bonus goes first in a tie, but I think officially it's DM rules. If you decide on a tie breaker: 21

Seeing Kelvin searching through the papers, Zakon walks over to the door (E5), checking for traps and/or seeing if it is locked.
Investigation: 24
The door does not appear to be locked. But the wood is incredibly swollen and warped, likely from water damage.

I'll tell you what. Why doesn't everyone else do something first, and then after everyone and the rats are done-- then I'll do something.
