Neya looks around the room, "However, I highly doubt that Grim would keep his journal in this kind of room. Also, considering the candles are still burning, I don't think we're alone, outside of Harae's presence."
Neya is going to try and listen for any sounds from the floor above.
In response to Graxx, the slight breeze in the room shifts to blow upwards. It is a subtle shift, but being aware of what the breeze signifies, the party keeps close attention to its behavior.
Neya then focuses on noticing or hearing any movement above. After a few seconds, she is sure that no one is moving on the second floor. Not even mice scurry up there, judging by the silence, and the wood boards are not even creaking. This tower must be well maintained in comparison to the East Tower.
As Neya is talking Praxx can sense that there is some tension in the room so he begins to play as she speaks. (Like to the tune of Bad to the Bone) Neya says “...considering the candles are still burning *duh dun duh duh dun*... I don’t think we’re alone *duh dun duh duh dun*...
Praxx plays his lute softly enough to not startle anyone.
“Looks like Harae wants us to go up Graxx. Do you want to tear a hole in the floor like a barbaric monstrosity or should we take the stairs?” Praxx asks
Graxx and Praxx agree on moving upwards using the outdoor staircase, as does Drazzim. The three of them begin to go up the steps while Utar and Neya stay back a bit to make sure their backs are covered.
Upon reaching the second floor, the three on the vanguard notice that this door too is busted open. As he did before, Drazzim leads the party inside. This second floor houses the barracks, with three separate bunk beds supporting six hay mattresses. The personal belongings of the guards that use these barracks can be seen everywhere, including clothes, dirty laundry, rags, jars, pots, general tools and even some simple weapons such as daggers and clubs.
As Neya and her astute hearing sense confirmed from below, this room appears to be empty too (of people, I mean.)
As the others ascend the staircase, Utar removes the globe from safekeeping, whispering its command word. As it illuminates the room, he gives the ground floor one last inspection.
Given the number of broken doors, and the lack of any Black Fist, Utar can't help but wonder whether they were locked in here and escaped, or hiding from something that eventually got in. When he thinks about the second option, Utar can't help but shudder at the lack of bodies within the tower.

(@Grx: Your perception roll got messed up, so I'll re-roll on your behalf here: 11)
Graxx looks around the room but does not find any signs of secret doors or passages. He does notice, however, that the guards' belongings were left behind as if there was no doubt they'd come back for them. That is to say, there are no signs of a rushed departure.
Praxx lets the barbarian look around the room and stares back outside. It is now late in the evening and the darkness is only broken by the light of the stars and the full moon. A few flames can be seen on the outside of the Manor in the distance, but not much else. As far as the bard can tell, the party is alone.
Down in the ground floor, Utar examines his surroundings one last time. There are no signs of distress apart from the broken locks: no thrown about furniture, no uneaten prepared food, no open flame on the hearth. Whoever last left this room, clearly left of their own accord, and most likely well before the doors were busted.
Neya lends credibility to Utar's conclusions by determining that the locks were broken from the outside, and that the damage is recent, perhaps a few of hours old.
Drazzim begins to ascend to the third and last door: "I'll check if that lock is broken as well."
"The placement and age of the damage narrows down who may have broken these locks. Most likely, this was done by the mercenaries, they arrived not long before we did. But the question is, why did they? Was there no one here when they arrived?"
There is no shift in Harae's breeze in response to Graxx's comment, but once Neya asks about the Black Fist, one of the loose tools laying around flies somewhat rapidly to accurately hit a metal pot a good 5 feet away. The loud ringing noise produced is continuous.
Right after Praxx's comment, Drazzim yells from above: "The third floor's door is also busted. You guys comin'?"
(OOC: I'll assume the whole party moves up to the third floor.)
As the rest of the party catches up to Drazzim, they confirm that the last door is also broken at the lock. Pushing it open and peeking inside, the group sees a well-kept room, with a large bed, some art hanging from the walls, well pressed clothes, and expensive antique furniture. Despite being the smallest of the three rooms you've seen so far, you deduce this chamber certainly houses the leader of the bunch.
Right on the center of the ceiling, a trap door leads up to what you can safely assume is the beacon atop the Lighthouse. A rope ladder is attached to the trap door, but currently rolled up. A large and pristine padlock clearly keeps this trap door well shut.
Graxx says aloud, "Harae! You came with us. What do you want us to look at here? Give us a sign."
Graxx walks and begins eating some dried meat as he watches for Harae's signal.
"Perhaps we are to look for Grim's journal, as well? I can't imagine anyone being daft enough to lie to themselves in such a manner.”

Graxx nods his head in agreement and says through a muffled mouthful of meat, "Makes sense to me!"

Graxx laughs heartily and sets the meat down. "The stairs will be fine. Do you need me to carry you or will you require my rope for climbing?"

"You know. If the guards that sleep here show up. They are going to think we did this and probably try to kill us."

Perception 24
OOC I can recall having seen any Black Fist so far on the island. Have we seen any, even at a distance?
"I need to confirm something..."
Neya goes to inspect the locks on the ground and second floor doors to determine if they were broken from the inside or outside.
