you are able to recognise that someone has been using this equipment to attempt to create potions, specifically a Potion of Invisibility. There don't appear to be any successful potions lying around.
OOC: I suppose it would be hard to see a potion of..........invisibility.....lol
Varinth will try an ascertain his position in space. He believes GlassRod should be to the south east corner of the room but would he be a full floor up? How far down did the stairs go?
As Vaz thinks on this, he casually picks up a glass vial and walks over to the door in the north east corner and places it on the ground where a person entering the door may very well step on it (making sure that if the door opens inwards that it will clear the vial.) He will then sit down at the worktable and face the door (in the NE).
Varinth, the stairs were a full flight down. It would make sense that Glasstaff is to your south-east, but definitely above. You place the glass vial. The room is lit by the same oil lamps that have been all around the Redbrands' hideout, burning and providing a clear illumination to the room.
Oops, I though Vas was heading towards the secret door study, so can we retcon all that flask business out? It doesn't make much sense if Vas is in another room...
Incantis, having been silently watching the conversation, smiles vindictively as the slaveholding mage is knocked ass over teakettle. "Sorry Zoria," he says with a grin. "You'll have to take your toll from your share of the spoils."

Varinth will put one of the oil lamps next to the door. Cover off. Then sit back down, casually flipping through a random book.
Varinth, please roll a Perception check.
Glasstaff enters the secret door, and you hear footsteps descending a flight of stairs. Do you follow?
(busy tonight but would have checked out the lab so happy to be puppeted following Vaz around. Sorry!)
