Asher, I would say it's a history check to try to recall what you know of Scupper and the song and then put them together. It's a very long song, though, and unlikely that anyone other than a bard would actually have the lyrics memorised. With a roll of 19, I would say Asher vaguely recalls that there's something about a halfling in the song, enough to prompt him to ask Scupper about it perhaps...
Oh, good point, I forgot it was whistling and not the lyrics. You're right. I probably wouldn't know the lyrics by heart then. But I agree, with that roll, maybe it might make him ask Scupper. I think for now Asher will keep it to himself.
As Dekhan speaks, of a druid's vision and a quest, Mistweaver, who had already been staring at him, intensifies her gaze and seems ready to speak, but instead turns to the others. So, you think we should attempt to make a rest? I suspect the goblins within this cave will find us and set upon us if we meditate or sleep. They could organise and plan an attack at their leisure. Though I would benefit greatly from time to recover my magic.
"I say we camp overnight, but we do so at least a half mile away from here and we maintain a constant watch of at least 2 people at a time. We cannot afford to be ambushed during the night. Who know how many goblins could come at once. However if the earlier goblin is to be believed, his count of 30 just lost 8 monsters. 22 is still a large number and we need to be strategic."
”I agree with Asher, somewhere far enough and out of the way would be ideal. If anyone needs healing, I’ve got a bit left in me. It’s not much, but it could make a difference.”
Dekahn looks at Mistweaver and seems at a loss for words.
”Are you a Druid? Do you know Ganya?“
He grows more excited as he goes along.
”Was I right? Is this the quest she spoke of? Was I fated to join your party? This is fantastic! Please tell her I won’t disappoint her! I’m so honored to have been chosen to join all of you! We’ll rescue your employers and restore this wood to light, I know it!”
Having run out of things to say Dekhan beams as he looks at the party. His eyes almost seem to shine as he meets the gaze of each member.
"mebbe rig dead gobbles, look like on guard fore go?" Strix suggests before preparing to make for the camp site. "Kneewon know make trap?" He waves around a bag of caltrops.
Dekhan is put on his heels by Mistweaver’s directness.
”I serve the... that is, I serve the light. I seek the boon of the ancients so that I may protect the good and beautiful things of this world. That I may be a shield for the weak and innocent and a cleansing sword for the wicked who seek to hurt them.”
Dekhan throws his shoulders back and stands firm as he talks, by the end of his speech his eyes have a full on glow to them. It subsided as he shakes himself and glances around slightly embarrassed by his tirade.
You seek... a boon? Of the Ancients? Mistweaver's tone is disbelieving, mocking, hostile. And who are you, that you should be worthy of such a thing? By what right are you sent visions to guide you, when my visions give no guidance, give nothing but anguish and torture and... She seems ready to shout, to scream into your face, but suddenly she becomes calm again. I should not speak so. We will not discuss this further now. She turns around, and walks to the other side of the clearing. Have we a decision yet, on what we shall do this day?
Asher reluctantly loosens his grip on his glaive, thoroughly confused by what her statements mean. He shoots a look to Scupper as if to convey, "Well that was weird."
Dekhan is shocked and hurt by Mistweaver’s admonishing. He tries to cover his emotion by checking the straps on his armor.
“I meant no offense, my lady. I make no claim of worthiness, I only seek to become worthy. I follow the guidance of those more knowing than me, it is they who sent me here. Again, I apologize, I’ll not trouble you again.”
In the background while the others square off, Strix props up the dead goblins in appropriate positions facing away from the cave mouth.
He helps himself to any arrows the ones with bows were carrying.
He checks if the goblins are barefoot, and if yes (or if their footwear is lacklustre, along the path they'll be taking to their resting spit, he shallow buries a couple of unclaimed scimitars longways with the blade just proud of the earth, scattering some handfuls of grass over them to disguise them in the hope that any goblin stepping on them will make enough noise to alert their watchman. (He has no shovel but can loosen the soil with his crowbar or the tip of a scimitar)
I wouldn't mind a couple o' those arrows if'n you'll allow, Strix? Scupper sees Asher's look and smiles, not too bothered by the tension but always willing to poke it. He speaks out to no one in particular, Always nice to see the righteous argue over who is more deserving of the right to be the good one. Hehe. Now before we decides who's god is going to watch over us and who's light will wake us, let's just try to remember that we're all probably about to die in the near and dear, so we can work out who's god we're serving when we meet them...Not that I'm opposed in any way to saving our coin purse, but technically, we're all going well beyond our pay grade and I hope the purse remembers that if'n and when'n we saves him. Scupper winks at Asher, Know you're likely to die, and any other result is a pleasant surprise.
Scupper suggests that we're only about 10 minutes away from the edge of the forest and camping with some cover is a damn site better than camping in the open.
Having completed your search of the immediate area, and leaving behind Strix's alarm traps, you make your way back along the trail until you reach the edge of the forest. You go some ways into the forest, but off the trail itself, and set up camp. It's now mid to late afternoon, so it will be around midnight when you finish your rest. The camp is small, and you have done your best to position it in such a way that it will not be easily visible from the main trail or the surrounding hills.
If you wish to take extra steps to attempt to camouflage or otherwise hide the camp from the sight of people on the trail or nearby grasslands, then I need a stealth check from everyone.
As usual, there are four watches, and the person on watch should give me a Perception check. Please let me know who is on each watch; Mistweaver is happy to take any watch you choose, but I think it's best if you decide when you want to use her. She has quite good perception skill. If two people are on watch at the same time, please make separate Perception checks, rather than attempting to help another person.
Elves can meditate for four hours (effectively the same as sleep); they can be on active watch for only one watch period of two hours, and then the remaining two hours they are awake but engaged in light activity (which cannot include keeping an active watch). While engaged in light activity but not on active watch, the party will still benefit from your passive perception in the case that the person on watch rolls very low. That's my understanding of RAW, at least. So elves, please let me know your plan for the night including these points.
This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.
Although I’m not terribly observant, I do see quite well in the dark. So if anyone cares to take one of the later watches with me I’d be happy to do so. Also, I think keeping a low profile is best at this time. Discretion is the better part of valor, Juriti always says.

Mistweaver steps up to Dekhan; though she is much shorter than him, she is somehow able to get right in his face, as she asks, Whom do you serve?
Dekhan is put on his heels by Mistweaver’s directness.

Asher takes a step toward Dekhan, gripping his glaive, but leaving it clipped on his back while he waits for Mistweaver's next move.

Dekhan, Mistweaver gives no response or any indication that she has heard you; she seems lost in her own thoughts.

Whilst Strix tootles his merry tune, Varinth bows unsteadily but with great aplomb to a nearby shrub. He then proceeds to waltz with it.
Strix, you recovered 12 usable arrows from the goblins' corpses. The goblins are all barefoot. You attempt to set up an alarm trap as you describe.
Varinth, unfortunately the tune is in 4/4 time, so your attempt to waltz to it is clumsy and inelegant. You feel the shrub judging you.
