The flaming magical energy bursts forth, cutting the space between Strix and Dekhan who both feel the heat as it passes by. With a 15 foot range, you can only hit Spider 3 and Spider 4 with this blast:
Spider 3 fails, and takes 21 damage - it is a black, charred mess of ashy flakes that tumble to the ground with a foomph. Spider 4 takes half damage, but was already wounded by Dekhan, and the flames are just too much for it. It withdraws its long legs into a tiny black ball that twitches for a moment on the ground before the flames consume it. Both spiders are dead.
Round Two:
A: Scupper, Zhudala and Strix B: Giant Spider 1 and 2 (3 and 4 are dead) C: Dekhan, Vhalak and Incantis D: Bugbears E: Varinth
This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.
Strix tries to ignore the smarting in his arm and focus on the task at hand. Smashing Bugbear 3s face in
Quarterstaff Attack: 24 Damage: 8
Bonus Unarmed Attack: 17 Damage: 6
(It looks like this only provokes an AoO from the bugbear who can't take one due Mobile. If I've got that wrong, aim the unarmed at the spider to stop the AoO and return to hold the door. )
Scupper readies another arrow attack, remaining where he is.
Strix moves up to Bugbear 3, and immediately Scupper's arrow flies past Strix's shoulder and thuds into the creature's heart, felling it in one blow. Before Strix can move to attack the nearby spider, you all hear a voice. Fine, I will sort this out myself.
Next to the desk, you hear the beginnings of a spell being cast, and a drow, previously invisible, pops into view. A tall male, he looks at you with calm intent, his face betraying little emotion. He carries a large black staff with a spider at one tip, which he points towards Dekhan. From the ground beneath you, grey strands emerge and try to entrap and restrain those nearby - Varinth, Dekhan and Scupper. A pity this must end this way, Nezznar the Black Spider says, with no trace of pity in voice.
Scupper, Dekhan and Varinth are caught in the web. You will need to make a DEX save at the start of each turn if you start in the web area, and if you fail you are restrained for one turn. Scupper has already gone this turn, so it will affect him next turn. Strix and Incantis are outside the web area.
Having seen Bugbear 3 dispatched, does Strix want to attack Spider 1? Or do something else?
((Does the advantage Scupper granted Dekhan only affect combat or will it work for dexterity checks as well? Nezznar looks reasonable maybe we should just talk this through.))
Since he's in range of that happy spider there's no AoO in punching Neznzar in the face. So he does, throwing the bonus attack at the adjacent spider so he can retreat to the pillar (bottom left) and use it for cover (ending 10ft left of where he started)

Strix's first attack hits the drow, who snarls back. Do you think you can win here? In my own lair?
Concentration save: 20
The web fades, and he looks absolutely furious. Like, he would cut you up into small pieces for the joy of hearing you scream. He's not happy.
Strix's attack on the spider also succeeds, though it is still up. Strix retreats to the side.
Giant Spider 1 follows Strix and attempts to hit him back:
Attack: 11 Damage: 5
That misses, I think?
Giant Spider 2 moves forward to attack Dekhan:
Attack: 20 Damage: 6
Also missing. Nezznar, as you might imagine, is delighted with the performance of his creatures. Any of you who speak undercommon will be treated to some choice swear words.
Dekhan, Vhalak and Incantis are up. Vhalak flees south and is effectively gone. No DEX save, as the web is gone.
(OOC : AC 17 so yes, misses. I can hit him with Silence if we can fix it so he can't get out of the 20ft area or at least takes a bunch of AoO's doing so - was just a bit squeamish about staying in melee, and thought I should take the swing in case the spell was Concentration based though, since it was a high roll. )
Any of you who speak undercommon will be treated to some choice swear words.
((Ooh like what?))
Seeing Nezznar blink into existence, Incantis hexes spider 1, letting out an agonizing eldritch blast while contacting his party's minds. Finish off the arachnids and surround the Spider!
Attack: 8 Damage: 15

Incantis, half-elf warlock (great old one) 4/bard 1 ● Thorok Earthhand, hill dwarf mountain druid 6/grave cleric 2
Cragmyre Ironseed, earth genasi ancestral barbarian 3 ● Cyrus Natriallae, aquatic half-elf warlock of the deep 3
Dekhan will move up to between Strix and the pillar. As he runs glowing incorporeal wings explode from his back and he finishes his movement in flight. ((Sorry, Scup, hate to waste the advantage but can’t afford to get pinned down again with my Dex save....))
This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.
Incantis' force blast slams into the spider, but does much less damage than he hoped. As the spider moved to follow Strix, I've moved Incantis east to give him a clear shot.
Dekhan moves to chase Spider 1, taking a hopelessly incompetent Opportunity Attack from Spider 2 as he does so:
Attack: 9 Damage: 11
INT check for Bugbear 1: 16
Bugbear 1 is too stupid to realise that magic has been messing with Bugbear 2, and believes he has switched sides, so he makes another attack:
Attack: 9 Damage: 11
(Wow, these guys can't even hit each other.)
Bugbear 2 cries out something in goblin, and Bugbear 1 seems to realise his mistake. Bugbear 2 then runs around to attack the flying paladin:
Attack: 22 Damage: 7
His morningstar bashes against Dekhan's armour; the swing is so obviously weak that Dekhan doesn't even bother to attempt to dodge it.
Varinth is up.
(Incantis hears Nezznar insult Strix's mother, questioning her species and morals.)
Vaz takes a step behind Scupper and aims his staff to line up Spider 2, Bugbear 2 and Nebuchadnezzar. (he'll leave Spider 2 out in favour of Narnia, if it doesn't line up enough)
Scupper, you can hear Vaz saying youcandothisyoucandothis under his breath.
Vaz lets loose a scorching beam of intense fire. Aganazzar’s Scorcher Damage: 13 (Half on Dex save)

Varinth comes up behind Strix and Dekhan
Make a hole!
He casts Burning Hands at 2nd level, trying to encompass as many of the arachnids as he can.
FTUMCH! Damage (Half on Dex save): 21
Wild Check: 5

Strix, Shifter Shadow Monk in Lost Mines of Phandelver ¦ Sihegiall Human Soulknife Rogue in In Search of Molly McGuffin
Scupper holds his action again until he can fire sneak attack at someone as soon as they step into melee.
Attack: 24 Damage: 4
Sneak Attack Damage 6
He then gives DEKHAN strategic ADVANTAGE with his cunning action "Hit em low! They're all top heavy brutes. Even the spiders!"

Help is ability checks and attack rolls, but not saving throws as far as I can see.
Who's up? I lost track..
Strix is up, he needs to complete his turn as Nezznar interrupted it.
