Serak: Nodding his agreement, Serak remarks, "This wagon and trail may have been left for us to find. I'll ensure we're not ambushed." Picking up the trail from Syna, Serak sneaks ahead of the party, on the lookout for traps and orcs.

"Not all those who wander are lost." - J.R.R. Tolkien
Taking the lead, Serak leads the party away from the road and follows the orc trail into the hillside. For what seems like hours the trail continues upwards, deeper into the lower ridges of the Sword Mountains. An owl screeches a few yards away to the parties left, before swooping down, grabbing a small mouse and taking flight once more. The rain which has tormented the group all day slowly subsides. Its clouds pass silently overhead and finally allow the starry night sky to light their way. The night wears on. In the distance, the bard spots a small flickering light casting long shadows. Cresting a low ridge, he spies the crumbling ruins of an old watchtower standing amid the rugged hills. The place is so old that the walls are only mounds of rubble enclosing a courtyard of sorts, adjacent to the broken stump of an old tower. Near the centre of the ruin, a small campfire has been built, scattering light around the stone walled carcass of the tower. A colorful tent has been set up in the middle of the courtyard, but no one is in sight.
As the rest of the party gather behind Serak, the wind turns slightly, blowing towards them. A deathly smell hangs in the air wafting from the towers direction.
Brots, Serak, Syna and Zyltris:
Beetle:
OOC: Same map scale as usual. 1 Square is 5 Feet. Walls are about waist height, so they will give you half cover should you need it. Circular walls of the tower are much higher at around 15ft, so give full cover.
I haven't marked your positions on the map just yet, but you'll enter the area from the bottom left corner of the map.
Brots will look toward the party that is currently with him. "I will move toward the north side of this watchtower. I'll see if I can see anything from there." Moving quietly he will move along the outside of the west wall, stopping when he reaches the top hole in the wall and peak in. Stealth Roll: 11
From the North West corner of the ruin, the stench of death is unbearable. Dimly lit by the flickering campfire, the courtyard itself remains quiet. The tent doors remain firmly closed as a faint groan can be heard from somewhere within the fallen walls.
Beetle:
Carefully creeping through the darkness of the ruin, Beetle notices the stench of death growing stronger with each step. He passes by the tent carefully, his armour rattling as he stumbles on a small stone. Finally he makes it to the tower. He fights against his stomach as the smell overpowers him. A loud groan echoes on the other side of the wall, followed by something heavy being dragged along the loose stony ground. Glancing around the wall of the tower, the inside is too dark to make out any shapes clearly.
Syna:
Carefully making his way along the ruins South West side, Syna takes a position crouched behind the low wall. The smell is alot stronger from here and seems to be eminating from the watch tower. With his darkvision he can see the inside of the ruin more clearly. Nothing seems to be hiding in the corners of the structure. Beetle stands at the entrance to the tower, a disgusted look on his face as he fights back against his churning stomach. Syna chuckles quietly before noticing 2.... 3... 5.... 7 zombies lurking within the darkness of the towers walls.
Beetle, hearing sounds from within the tower will light one of his torches and throw it into the tower to illuminate the area, ready to react to anything dangerous with an eldritch blast due to his War Caster ability (You can use your reaction to make an opportunity attack to cast a spell that has a casting time of 1 action and targets only that creature.)
This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.
Initiative Rolls:
Beetle: 21 Brots: 7 Serak: 6 Syna: 5 Zyltris: 2
Zombies: 1
Serak 21 vs Zombies 14
Throwing his lit torch inside, Beetle can finally see what hides within. To his left through the crumbled tower wall he spots 5 zombies shuffling aimlessly around. Turning to peer around the right hand side, he is suddenly staring directly into the decaying face of a long dead human. As he spins away back behind the shelter of the wall, he hears Syna cry out. The entrance to the tower suddenly erupts into flames.
OOC: Seems like ages since we last had a battle. Nearly forgot how to make these lol. Serak I know you'll probably want to change your starting position so that's fine if you do that before your turn. No surprise round. Same rules as usual. By the looks of it I'll need to take a look at attacking through allies again before the zombies start their turn!

Beetle will stay put (I am assuming that any that come through the fire and keep moving past me will cause an opportunity attack) and target Z9(Z2 if 9 isn't targetable from my position) with eldritch blast
OCC: I am hoping I aggro'd the zombies and they will try and attack thru the fire. At the very least, let's try to range attack and cut them down a bit.
DM: Are they human, orc, or other zombies? Or it doesn't matter?
OOC: I'm assuming the Zombies are in an enclosed area?
Brots Attack:
Brots is going to move to the square that takes up the lower right of the camp fire (OOC: If I can without taking damage). He'll look into the watch tower and see Zombies, the hatred for them now coursing through his veins, he'll then fire at Z1 with his bow. Attack: 21 Damage: Unable to parse dice roll.
OOC: Brots and Zyltris, the zombies will likely start to move out of the tower before your actions. Brots will probably still be able to target Z1. Take it that Zyltris will attack whichever zombie is closest when he takes up his position?

"Syna, maybe one of the bonfires you create would brighten up this place??" Beetle remarks... "either way we will proceed slowly."
Syna will proceed, stealthily along the marked path. If discovered he will cast Create Bonfire on the tent.
