Serak: Serak draws back and fires another arrow at the surprised orc.
Attack: 13 Damage: 4
OOC: Serak picked up the bow when Sildar joined us in the goblin cave. It's been on my sheet since then, but I haven't needed the extra range until now.

Snarling as he slowly creeps forward, Syna lunges forwards again at the orc lookout, his jaws snapping together.
Attack: 5
Prepared this time, the orc swings away, dodging the blow as the wolf flies past. Drawing his greataxe, the orc turns to face the approaching humanoids. He growls as he chooses his target, holding his blade tightly behind him, ready to swing. Before Zyltris can reach him, another arrow glides effortlessly through the ravine air.
Attack: 13 Damage: 4
The arrow zips past the charging armour clad figures of Zyltris and Beetle, slamming into the orcs head. Serak stands victoriously beside Brots as his target clutches at the arrow embedded in him and slumps to the floor.
OOC: The orc watch is taken care off, you guys can start your assault on the cave now.

Serak: Raising his bow above his head victoriously, Serak motions to the top of the hill. He moves silently up the slope, taking cover behind the rock formation at the apex. He examines it while listening to the orcs below.
Perception: 7
Stealth: 18

(OOC: be out again today until dinnertime so if it gets to me feel free to roll for me, melee attack if I can get into range, green flame blade on the melee attack if anything else is in range and if I can't get to melee distance which I should then Eldritch Blast.)
OOC: No worries Beetle, thats perfect anyway if we need to go for you. I'll break initiative here and reroll when/if the party re-engage.
Serak, theres no reason why not. Although the tor has been standing here for a long time, moving them would take a lot of brute force. You're looking at a pretty high raw strength DC. It's also a local landmark, so there might be a few people that rely on it for navigation etc.
Soundwise, you're safe enough for now. So you won't need Silence.
Close to the tunnel, Syna lets his instinct take over. The smell pouring from the cave is rotten, alive with the sounds of at least five or six stinking orcs. His wolf nose detects a larger creature as well, its hideous sweaty odour subtly mixing with the others. Then a deep grumbling voice in a strange dialect Syna can't place.
Without approaching the cave mouth, the wolf can only sense that the orc party are over a hundred feet into the darkness. However, at least one orc seems to be much closer to the cave mouth - no more than 30-40ft away. Although he makes no sound, the wolfs nose doesn't lie.
OOC: Just using the spoiler here as Syna would have lost the ability to communicate with the wolf form. Unless you're barking at the others lol.
Brots while the team is planning, is going to call his hawk back down to him and do a little quick scavenging, seeing if he can find anything for the group to eat or drink later.

Searching the area, Zyltris tries to find out anything he can about the tor. He tries to piece together clues from the site, with what he might have overheard in town.
Zyltris Investigation (Intelligence) Check: 16
Stooping beside a pile of broken weapons and rocks Zyltris notices that these blades have rusted long ago. Amongst them is the broken skull of some kind of lizard. The elf vaguely remembers overhearing a conversation in Stonehill Inn. A short folk tale about a band of adventurers that had fought against a nest of wyverns here years ago, liberating the farmlands around the Sword Mountains from the dragons and chasing them away. The rocky outcrop had been renamed that day to honour the heroes - Wyvern Tor.
He climbs the ravine and carefully takes in his surroundings. The Triboar Trail is clearly visible to the west as it loops around the foothills making its way eastwards. Zyltris suspects that the site would be visible for miles - perhaps even as far as Phandalin on a clear day.
Given the numbers, and realizing he will be able to aid better in his natural form, Syna reverts back.
"There are 5, maybe 6 more orcs in there, one very close," he whispers. "And there is something else down there, bigger and nastier smelling. I haven't encountered its smell, at least not in wolf form. Should we go in, or try to draw them up? I am sure sooner or later they will come up to relieve the guard."

Brots Survival (Wisdom) Check: 19
Brots disappears for a few minutes with his blood hawk while the others formulate a plan. Checking around the surrounding hills the gnome stumbles upon a stolen wagon laden with an assortment of supplies - cakes, fresh meats, ales, vegetables, anything that the party could ever wish to eat after a long day of adventuring. Delighted with himself, Brots gathers as much as he can carry and returns to the party, beaming happily.
Serak: Waiting for the party to gather, Serak huddles in close and whispers, "I believe our best bet is holding the high ground. Beetle and Zyltris can hold either flank while Brots, Syna and I rain death from cover."
Motioning again to the rock formation, he continues, "If I can draw them out with an illusion, I believe we could surprise them with a rock slide. I'll then light them up with Faerie Fire. If Syna calls forth vines also, they will have a difficult time climbing up to us."

Brots will move with Serak to the highground to provide cover from above, sending my hawk to circle us, signaling if he sees anyone trying to sneak up on us. (OOC: If I'm able to do that, I'm also going to name the Hawk after my soon to be son, Lucas.) Initiative: 18
Beetle will move into a position on the high ground waiting to the illusion to hopefully chase or pull the orcs towards the group. He will have his sword out and ready to bottleneck the enemies if possible to keep them from the ranged...while he has a brief moment..."Tyr once again we find ourselves ready to bring vengenance to those that have cause harm and evil...guide us with your battle wisdom and assist us in prevailing no matter the odds..."

ROUND 2
OOC: Don't worry about it. It's in your equipment, I just didn't see it in your actions, so it's all fine!
Still in beast form, Syna attacks again with snapping jaws.

BrownBeard, I'm wondering if the rocks could be pushed down to crush them as they exit.
Also, if there is danger of the orcs hearing our approach up the hill, Serak would hold everyone off as he cast Silence as a ritual.
