Longsword in hand, Beetle takes another swipe at the dragon, eager to deliver the finishing blow.
Attack: 14
Talon lands a glancing blow against the dragons thick scales, leaving behind a long shallow scratch on the surface. The dragon shrugs off the blow, showing no sign of tiring as it continues to defy its attackers.
ROUND 12
1
Snarling at the golden dragonborns miracle escape, the dragon lunge forwards again. With its claws spread wide its jaws lead the way.
Dragon Attack 1 vs Arkhan: 13 (+D/A)
Pouncing at Arkhan, the dragons lower jaw furrows through the ground, churning up soft soil as the dragonborn leaps aside. Tangled vines hold the beast firmly in place as it rolls back to its feet, chasing Arkhan with a swipe of its right claw.
Dragon Attack 2: 18 (+D/A)
Arkhan continues to lead the beast on a merry dance as the dragons second swipe falls short, again throwing a pile of soil into the air. Roaring in a mix of anger and frustration, the dragon lashes out a final time, throwing a clawed foot towards the nearby Beetle.
Dragon Attack 3: 11 (+D/A)
(OOC: Beetle I'm assuming you'll take a shield from the staff here? I can always roll damage after if you'd prefer lol)
A second blast of light halts the dragon in its tracks. Beetle stands strong, unscathed by the dragons sharp claws. In his hand, his glass staff shimmers as it catches the light. The dragon hesitates, snapping at the sceptres magical aura.
With a clean shot, Brots makes the most of the distraction, aiming another arrow and letting it fly towards the dragons side.
Brots Attack Roll: 25 Damage: (8+5) = 11
As the arrow plants itself into its flank, the dragon lets out a weakened screech. Suddenly its confident swagger seems to have faded. Its efforts to free itself now lacking any great urgency. Brots is overcome by a sense of great pity for the beast and lowers his bow before considering whether the dragon would show the same level of compassion.
Jelenneth arrives, cowering behind a low wall along the northern edge of the old apothecaries. Casting a spell on herself, he complexion quickly changes, darkening, hardening, blending into the forest around her. She whispers to Serak beside her, he words fumbled through wooden lips "Just in case. Though it looks as if you won't need us after all!"
Out of spells and out of range, Syna weighs up his options. Pulling a dart from his side, he decides that a weak attack is better than none and takes aim, firing at the dragon.
Attack: 16 Damage: 4
Another shaft gets added to the dragons side as it puffs out a heavy sigh. Its breathing slows, growing heavier by the second. Despite the pool of rich red blood forming around it, the dragon seems determined to continue. Expecting another blow from Arkhan, the beast reluctantly eyes up his adversary, forcing a half hearted grumble through its teeth

Serak: Back pressed against the wall, Serak says to Jelenneth on the other side, "It's not over yet! Stay out of sight and be ready to heal any wounded!" Hoping to cause at least some harm to the beast before his friends bring it down, the bard then looses yet another arrow at the Dragon.
Attack: 22 Damage: 4
Concerned for his allies, Serak shouts, "Arkhan! Watch for its breath attack!"
Bonus Action: Bardic Inspiration Target: Arkhan
Reaction: Cutting Words Condition: Dragon makes its check vs Entanglement by 6 or less.

Serak, observing the battle from a safe distance, takes aim at the dragon once more.
Attack: 12
The arrow whistles as it spins recklessly aside, striking the smithy wall as it misses its target. Serak lowers his bow sheepishly, turning his attention back to the battle. Increasingly concerned over the dragons poison breath, he calls out to Arkhan with inspiring words and prepares himself to distract the dragon should it make its escape.
Pathetic. The dragon, visibly weakened by the onslaught must surely now accept its fate. With axe in hand Arkhan growls a final warning to the beast as crackling forks of electricity run down his arm, "MAVLI DOUT MARFEDELOM INI SIA CHA'SID MRITH KALITH!"
Arkhan Attack: 12
"NURTIII!" The dragon growls back, weak but defiant as it ducks away from Arkhans blade. It's buckling legs stiffen once more as it hauls itself back to a stronger position, briefly buoyed by the dragonborns arrogance.
Arkhan, Beetle:
“Accept your death by my hand with honor”
"Never!"
"I'm getting closer!" To Jelenneths disbelief, Dayereth tears past. The old monk sprinting as fast as his legs can carry him towards the melee. He stumbles over a small rock in the road midstride, almost falling as he somehow keeps his balance. Out of breath as he darts behind the smithy, he shouts out to the forest, "RILLIFANE RALLATHIL! I CALL ON YOUR WARDING SPIRIT!" In an instant, the elven god of nature responds. A handful of leaves carried on the breeze swirl through the air from the nearby forest. Spinning through the air, they eventually encircle Zyltris providing a barrier between him and the dragon.
Bemused by his sudden leafy force field, Zyltris redraws his second axe. Taking aim at the dragon, both blades burst through the screen filling, scattering leaves through the air.
Zyltris Attack 1: 22 Zyltris Attack 2: 14
Damage 1: 7 Damage 2: 2
Zyltris catches the dragon by surprise. The beast too distracted by the contempt shown by the dragonborn to have noticed the danger from its flank. The elf hacks away, again drawing blood as his blades slice through thick armoured scales. The dragon winces in pain, rearing weakly onto its rear legs again but falling to earth with a heavy thump. Its head hits the ground, kicking a cloud of dust into the air. Its tired eyes flicker, catching sight of a glinting blade as it struggles to lift itself from the dirt.
Attack: 24 Damage: (8+1) = 9
Beetles blade hacks into the back of the dragons skull unchallenged. The dragon helpless to resist as the last remnants of its strength drains away. In a last ditch effort it staggers to its feet, lurching sideways as its right legs buckle. Dazed and confused it shakes its head, squinting its beady black eyes as it focuses on its attackers.
Struggling against its bindings for a final time, the dragon succumbs to its fate. Collapsing into a pile among the vines, its breathing shallow and sluggish.
Bow in hand, Brots narrows his eyes, reluctantly firing again at the dragons side.
Brots Attack: 22 Damage: (5+5)
With a dull thump the arrow disappears into the dragons body. The beast too weak to move, shows no reaction to the blow.
Jelenneth peeks around the corner of the ruined wall. Though she has a thorough dislike for dragons, part of her feels a great sympathy for a creature in such pain. Ducking back behind the wall the druid closes her eyes tight, absorbing the sounds of the forest, patiently waiting should she be needed.
Syna, lowers his head, his plan to avoid death shattered. His companions will not suffer the creature to live. He draws forth another dart and casts it at the Dragon.
Serak: Retrieving yet another arrow from his quiver, Serak nocks and draws quickly before taking aim at the beast. A twinge of pity for the creature stays his hand a moment, before reason forces the bard to release the string.
Attack: 16 Damage: 4
Reaction: Cutting Words Condition: Dragon makes its Check vs Entanglement by 6 or less.

Slowly and quietly, Syna takes another dart in hand taking aim at the downed beast. What might have been...
Attack: 12
The druids dart falls short as he half heatedly throws at the dragon. I strange mixture of feelings descend over him - remorse, sorrow, indifference. A dragon is a living creature nonetheless.
Clearly sharing Synas feelings, Serak holds his aim for a moment as he nocks another arrow. Done with being sentimental, he too fires.
Attack: 16
Serak too pulls his shot. The moments pause obviously costing him dearly as his arrow misses its target. The bard sighs as he reaches for another arrow. Eyes firmly fixed on the wheezing dragon, still half expecting it to make an escape.
Fed up of waiting, Arkhan sets his hand axe back onto his belt. It seems it has fallen to him to cleanse this planet of another dragon. "So be it." Swirling his hands before him, the dragonborn steps backwards, crackling blue energy starting to form between his palms.
Dragon Opportunity Attack: 13
Despite its weakened state, the dragon somehow manages to summon enough energy to lunge forward a final time, though its gnashing jaws fall some distance short of Arkhan as he steps away. The dragonborn spits on the ground nonchalantly growling at the pathetic beast. "Your death could have been swift and honorable and painless... now you will suffer."
The ball of crackling energy, now grown to a huge size, roars in Arkhans hands. Turning his palms forwards, he releases the blast into the air.
Attack: 15
The roar of energy is drowned out by a wet, grumbling chuckle. Defiantly the dragon puffs the witch bolt away, scattering blue electricity into the wind. Locking eyes with Arkhan, the dragon smiles, speaking softly through its shallow, tiring breaths, "Hawrk'ghukech! Nomag... Tiamat jivelgg wux ihk... tiselaiw, nou'ara."
Arhan, Beetle:
"Pathetic! May... Tiamat torture you for... eternity. Half Breed!"
Red faced and panting, Dayereth appears in the window of the smithy. Gesturing wildly at the dragon, he yells through the broken glass, "YOU BLOODY DRAGON! DESTROYER OF THE FORESTS! I HAVE CHASED YOU FOR TOO LONG. DON'T YOU DARE DIE BEFORE I GET MY HANDS ON YOU!"
Reacting quickly to Dayereths approach, Zyltris swings his axes again, not willing to let the old man get into any bother. Hands bursting through the storm of leaves around him, he reaches for the dragon.
Zyltris Attack 1: 7 Zyltris Attack 2: 13
The monks cries temporarily stirs the dragon to its senses as it kicks Zyltris aside. The elfs axes are thrown aside as the clawed foot strikes his chest. "GET BACK!" Zyltris yells as he reaches desperately for his blades. Behind him, the dragon again attempts to rise, its buckling legs seeming to hold.
Standing tall over Arkhan, the dragon snarls, teeth bared, a thin wisp of purple smoke trickling from its nostrils. Defiant til the end, it takes a deep breath and lunges forwards.
Attack: 18 Damage:(12 + 5) = 17
Mid strike, the dragon collapses onto the floor, its foreleg cleaved away beneath it. The beast rolls around, writhing and screaming in agony, teeth gnashing together in vain as it lashes out at its unseen attacker. In a moment all is silent as Talon strikes again, the dragons huge head spinning away across the dusty ground, tongue lolling, jaws still leaking foul smelling smoke.
The struggling dragons corpse eventually stills in a puddle of rich red blood, the few thick green scales that managed to avoid contact still gleaming in the sunlight. For a few minutes the forest is silent, before a single sparrow musters the courage to start singing in the background. Aching and covered in blood, the companions gather over their game, still half expecting the beast to come alive.
Serak: Cautiously approaching the slain Dragon, Serak draws his rapier, jabbing the creature several times. Satisfied that the beast is truly slain, the bard says, "Truly incredible fighting everyone! Surely Tyr was with us this day!"
As Arkhan collects his trophy, Serak contemplates collecting two of his own as well. Opening the beasts massive mouth, he reveals the Dragon's poison glands and says to Brots, "Before we explore its lair, might I borrow your expertise a moment in harvesting these poison glands?"
Action: Help(Brots Survival/Nature? Check)
