A small patch of forest bursts into flames as Arkhan launches another firebolt into the brush. A familiar wave of heat roars past the dragonborn as he scours the treeline for signs of movement, but his quarry is nowhere to be seen.
A short distance away, Beetle slowly steps up to one of the sleeping creatures. With both hands tightly wrapped around Talons hilt, the paladin sinks the blade into the goblins chest. A short, wheezing gasp escapes into the air, followed by a quick painless death.
ROUND 5
Taking Seraks lead, Syna charges west, taking cover behind a young but sturdy ash tree at the edge of the forest. In his hand the druid creates a long shaft of ice, dramatically pointed at one end. Briefly he winks at Serak, before launching the shard into the goblins hiding place.
Attack Roll: 6 (With D/A)
The frozen blade misses its target, instead smashing into a nearby tree trunk sending thousands of needle like crystals scattering through the forest.
Goblin 3 Dexterity Save: 9 Spell Save DC: 13
"KAAKHAAR!" The unmistakable call for retreat suddenly springs from the dense bushes. A goblin appears from a mass of charred and ice covered brambles, bow in hand. In a last ditch effort to cause some damage it launches an arrow at Arkhan.
Goblin 3 Attack Roll: 16 Damage: 13 (OOC: Although I'm assuming you'll take shield again!)
Without waiting to see if the arrow strikes, the goblin spins on its heels and dives back into the undergrowth, running for its life.
Goblin 3 Stealth Roll: 24
A second arrow whistles past Arkhan. This time from the north towards Serak as the second of the goblins makes a hasty retreat.
Goblin 5 Attack Roll: 8
Like its brethren, the second goblin spins away without a second look. In a single fluid motion it skips over a mass of twisted brambles, swinging from a tree branch before disappearing into the darkness.
Goblin 5 Stealth Roll: 12 (There we go! Normal dice service is resumed!)
OOC: Beetle, you're correct with that last attack! You would have had an additional damage dice for your critical too, but 9 was enough this time!
Serak: Moving to Arkhan's side, Serak remains in the cover of the trees as he nocks and fires another arrow. His own magics drained, he waves Syna forward in hopes he can assist the Dragonborn.
Movement - 25ft NW
Action - Attack: 12 Damage: 4 Target: Goblin(G5)

OOC: I hope you all had a good relaxing holiday weekend. This battle is just about over. Syna can get Arkhan on his feet and the goblins seem to be fleeing.

With the goblins fleeing, Serak makes a last, desperate attack. Arrow nocked, the bard lets fly. His shot arcs through the air before landing harmlessly some distance short of his target. Missed.
Following suit, Beetle fires a blast of energy into the opposite woodland. An explosion of dirt rumbles through the forest floor as his attack also lands short of the sleeping goblin.
ROUND 6
Striding silently through a patch of woodland, Syna closes his eyes before lightly pressing his hands against the weakening dragonborns skin. In a soft voice the druid utters a short sentence in elvish as Arkhan reopens his eyes, "Dab-nin peni-cín haru"
Cure Wounds: 8
In the woods to the north and west, the goblins continue to make their retreat - skipping effortlessly through the trees at full pace, diving into cover at every opportunity.
Goblin 3 Stealth: 20 Goblin 5 Stealth: 25
OOC: I would say that these two goblins are long gone at this point. You're welcome to take a pop shot but they'll likely disappear next turn. Goblin 1 is another matter - if you'd rather end combat here I'd take a merciful critical hit from anyone who wants to take a melee attack.
Striding over to the sleeping goblin, Beetle brings his longsword sharply downwards. A wet crunch echoes briefly through the forest. A goblinoid head spins harmlessly into the nearby foliage.
Beetle inspects the area, carefully searching the dead. While they hold nothing of any real value, the paladin discovers something of interest on the largest of the hobgoblins. A crudely drawn map of the area, with the words “Alkon” hastily scrawled.

Serak: Watching as the last of the goblins flee, the Bard releases a sigh of relief that they'd survived the ambush. Slinging his shortbow over his shoulder, Serak assists Arkhan to his feet, saying, "You're still with us, my friend! I doubt they'll be back. Let's us use their camp to rest and regain our strength. I'm also most curious about what might lay within this collapsed cave."
Quickly searching their slain enemies for loot, Serak then begins dragging the bodies into the bushes. Next, he scouts the perimeter for any traps before resetting the one he tripped earlier.

"Not all those who wander are lost." - J.R.R. Tolkien
Beetle calls out to Serak..."Come over here my friend and take a look at this...." with that he shows Serak the map and translates the crude drawn words on it as Ambush!
After Serak has a chance to look it over Beetle continues... "I am not as good with maps or path finding as you...where exactly do you suppose it is? Or maybe this was the ambush and we ruined it for them?"
Taking a few moments to ensure the area is cleared Serak falls back to meet the others, the faint clink of 7 newly found silver pieces rattling in his pockets. No further traps lie in wait in the surrounding woodland. As goblin footsteps fade away into the darkness, the sounds of the forest slowly reawaken.
Arkhan grunts, "Yea, I think I could use a good long lie down. Uh thanks for keeping me breathing there." uncomfortable with the sentiment Arkhan takes the armor off the hobgoblin and uses his belly as a pillow and goes to sleep for the night.

OOC: Are you sure Arkhan? Maybe I’ve got it wrong but Shield gives you +5AC. Your normal AC is 19 so that’d bring you to 24
Unless it doesn’t work with a critical hit?
Ooc: yeah it brings me to 24 which is what he rolled so it hits
